I was 17 in 1971 now I'm a pensioner but I'm still blessed with a fine head of long hair , I still have a pipe of something nice , I enjoy a few snakebites and love the music of 1971

1971 was an absolutely vintage year for rock, soul, and pop.

Family, Medicine Head and Atomic Rooster on the same bill? Even the Whistle Test would have baulked at such a line-up!

where did the music go?.......remember the day the music died.?......it died from a slow form of nostalgia......all the people longing for music from their past, drove musicians and producers to just sample from the past......and consequently no new music was created.......death by nostalgia.

I always heard that the song was written by civil rights activists in the 1950s; Sammy Davis Jr. did a version back then. Three Dog Night had a hit in the USA with a cover of it in 1972.

Greyhound,..soft lilting music but quite a full on, belligerent message to apparently ''unite''. Such impudence! And the silent majority given no say in the matter! Shocking and despicable.

Greyhound's Black and White vs McCartney and Wonder's Ebony and Ivory. Compare and contrast, while shedding a soft tear for impossible Utopian dreams.
@pcno28327 жыл бұрын
I don't have to compare long to know which one I prefer. Give the Three Dog Night version a listen some time; it's heavily influenced by this one, but I find the arrangement a little more interesting and like all of their records, the performance it very tight.
