I’m so sorry. I hate when doctors say that. Pitocin can be difficult because of the pace of the contractions.

I see a lot of sample birth plans that say no to the Pitocin after birth, I thought it was given to speed up the placenta's birth, is that also true or is it just for postpartum hemorrhaging? Also what are the benefits of declining the pitocin after an unmedicated birth? Is there a higher risk of postpartum hemorrhaging in a medicated birth considering that the natural flow of hormones were disrupted?

I hope I answered these questions in class, but here are a few more answers. 1) It is given to help prevent postpartum hemorrhage 2) Benefits to declining probably just avoiding a bag of IV solution 3) I'm not sure about the relative risk of hemorrhage with medication vs. unmedicated birth

It is common that doctors want labor to start on it's own prior for VBACs. I wouldn't recommend castor oil. You can consider eating dates if you don't have gestational diabetes. Here is more info kzbin.info/www/bejne/npLFp4mep5aUbcU
