Is there a way to tell if a set is still 'in print' or not, or will be reprinted? You mentioned 151 being printed into oblivion. I haven't seen for sale in a while and some other stuff seems to be out of stock as well. I thought maybe it wasn't being printed anymore.

Sealed product is definitely the way to go, anything vintage is gold. Especially now that Pokémon cards are considered art and can retain value

I was at the last regionals it shot up at and my wife and I were going to get it at 350. I had a strong hunch that it was going to go up but we decided to get some other stuff with the money we needed for the personal collection. Whenever we peaked back at the price, we were floored. Obsidian flames is literally the best booster box with the nicest artwork. It sucks how it came out after a bunch of charizards were already released prior or else this would have done really really well. The charizard looks so sexy.

Im finding the scarlet and violet era pretty lack luster tbh. As an adult collector i can appreciate that the kids probably love it and really that matters more so im happy to take a back seat on these sets. 151 was ok. The card quality for english has dropped dramatically as well iv barely seen any cards without whitening on the back. More so than sword and shield.

You're nuts if you think S&V is lack luster lol. Compare it swsh, rebel clash, champions path and Shining fates and tell me that S&V is lackluster. You do realize 151 is the only set since evolving skies to actually gain value in singles??

@joelh90 as someone who opens a ton of cards, the quality is basically the same as Sword and shield. The reason swsh alt arts are worth more is because they have way harder pull rates, and there aren't as many. Has nothing really to do with the designs. It's also the pokemon they're choosing. They always, and I mean always have the first sets really heavy with the new generation so people get used to them. The shiny illustration rares will hold their value a lot better because there aren't as many and will be tough to pull.
