Please do a new r/bodyweight follow along routine video. People on reddit are constantly asking for simple follow along videos. The old ones are a bit outdated and it's kinda annoying trying to follow along multiple videos while you're working out. Perhaps you could do separate basic, intermediate, pro follow along videos?

Great advice, Antranik. As a 62 year old training regularly, I do *everything* in my power to avoid injury and doing wide, elbows out push-ups will give you shoulder impingement, something I've experienced from doing upright rows. Thanks Arnold!

Hello Antranik, thank you for this video! I tried to do proper pushups, as you showed it in the earlier video, but very soon after that I developed some pain in the elbow or in the high part of the pec [just between arm and chest], so I had to stop doing them totally. Do you know what is the possible explanation of my errors? Also: what number of pushups should be considered as a range proper for beginner/advanced person?

Do you need to keep your scapulae protracted during the whole push up movement, Antranik? I am stuck with that because everyone is saying a different thing. By the way, great job as always. I feel very lucky that I find you and your works.
@Kboges3 жыл бұрын
Personally, I do not recommend that. Scapula should go through normal retraction/protraction during the push up. This is healthy for the shoulders.

Form check videos help tremendously for me as well.

Hi antranik, what' s your view to going up fast and getting down slow vs going up slow and downing fast while doing push ups
@AntranikDotOrg3 жыл бұрын
You should always do the concentric (the contraction phase) of an exercise FAST. So for pushups and pullups, fast upwards. And a slower, more controlled descent on the eccentric (lengthening phase). It makes you much stronger when you can perform an exercise with SPEED. (Power = strength+speed)

Hey man, I finally got all my mistakes right but I have a question. When I go down my body goes past my elbow but it doesn't flare, is this correct or should I try to keep my body parallel to my elbow when I go down?
@ursula57703 жыл бұрын
imgur.com/a/CBJeCFg Here's an image of me downward the motion (Did a video of one set with 12 reps) , I'm quite convinced that it is the right form but with my body going past my elbows I'm being skeptical. I'm not sure if I'm just skinny that's why my body appears to be lower than my elbows or I'm just not doing the right form. PS: No pain after doing 4x12 of pushups.
@AntranikDotOrg3 жыл бұрын
Your form looks fantastic! You should go as deep as you can on pushups, so body going lower than elbows is totally fine!

Yea! Scaps should be depressed a bit, not shrugged up/elevated.

Regarding the forearm staying vertical - does it have to stay in the same position throughout? Based on your earlier pushup video I have corrected it so that it doesn't go backward (parallel to the body) but it still flares out a bit (towards the camera, in the angle you have shot the video at)
@AntranikDotOrg4 жыл бұрын
It can move a little bit. As you get stronger, it won't move at all basically.

@AntranikDotOrg3 жыл бұрын
Almost touching in general is a good way to go about it.
@poshboybeatz3 жыл бұрын
@@AntranikDotOrg to be honest, I found sending the shoulders forward caused pain in the front of them, when bringing chest near to ground because they rotated forward. Now I don't send them forward too much. I also think there's nothing inherently bad with forearms bending a bit, many PTs on KZbin do it. It's not the same as a bench press which would be bad.

i've noticed that my fingertip archer pushups seem to target my chest a lot better than normal pushups - is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?
@AntranikDotOrg4 жыл бұрын
Normal! Archer pushups are a unilateral pushing exercise, so naturally there will be much more load on the chest and shoulders on the heavier loaded side!
@imbetterthanyoubyfar4 жыл бұрын
@@AntranikDotOrg i meant relative to shoulders though - it almost feels like 20 normal pushups is slightly harder on my shoulders, while 20 archer finger pushups is far harder on my chest
