master class every time love it, simple calculations like not extending that a lot of other creators skip

Black selecting the 810 was crazy. It is only 1 pip of ore more than the 834 minus the 4 sheep but gives you an awesome expansion spot. In addition, it is terrible for number diversity and the end up complaining when their numbers didnt roll. The irony is that 3s and 4s rolled heaps this game.

Nah, diversifying your hexes is importand too!

Black raging over the time it takes you to play your turn... That's so funny. "LOOK LAST SECOND" haha

This was an enjoyable game to watch, and it is clear that you are good, as you are rated pretty high. However, I would have chosen the 5 6 9 first. Then given your options on the way back, I think 9 10 11 was better. Given how much ore you had and the scarcity of wheat, it is important for you to be on the best wheat spot you can get. plus, you put yourself in a position where you start without sheep. However, this does come down partially to play style, as you would've been slower to move but popping a few devs for utility. Btw, not trading for the win is wild when Blue is so close xD

the 9 wheat will get blocked all game but the 6 brick rarely does
@tannerlogan99029 ай бұрын
That’s true, but you will also be popping consistent devs to have more robber control. I think that trade off is well worth it. You still managed to win the game though, so I suppose it’s not too important in this instance.

In poker I liked when people complained about not getting cards. It's like they staple a big "I'm tilting" sign to their forehead.

can be. can also just be whining

Idk if I'm missing something, but I believe you are overthinking or misjudging this 5/9/10 "blocking" meta. If we just count raw production, you sacrifice two pips, for the sole purpose of... denying blue a 12-pip spot? (reducing his production by 2 pips at best) Additionally, on this particular board double/triple ore seems rather undesirable given the scarcity of wheat.
@buddycatan10 ай бұрын
that’s not the sole purpose. blocking spots has a cascading effect for the rest of the picks. if i’m confident i will get a good pairing i am likely to deny someone else one
@michaelmuller585610 ай бұрын
Yeah, I have been wondering about this cascading effect on some other games of yours. But I feel it vanishes early. In this game, it opened the 6-9-12 for red. For me personally, the other players aren't suffering enough to justify a sacrifice 2 pips. In any case keep posting. Love your calm analytical style.

I know its sort of classic that anyone who records their games takes more time with turns but it blows my mind how people complain. Like its a 60 second turn timer, the fact people act so impatient when its a matter of seconds difference between playing "slow" vs "fast" is wild to me.

i was extra slow today waiting for my coffee to take effect

@@buddycatan Like not to just complain about it but like, it doesn't make someone worse for thinking thoroughly about their moves, people need to learn a little patience. Sorry just seeing black complaining about you so much got under my skin. Even if you weren't recording, some people think slower but thoroughly, some people might be a bit busy while they play. The hedge against this wasting time is the one minute turn timer, and black here still freaking out you took an extra 15 seconds to think through options.

@@buddycatan I really appreciate your time management, you don't waste time just to waste time, you think through the small details that most people don't consider important, like weighing the risk of getting plowed vs. a 7-out if you decide to drop a road or not. Or trying to figure out in advance who has the card you need in case you roll a 7.

15:27 couldn't you have won by trading the sheep for the wheat and settling on the 3:1 port?

Black was intentionally trying to kingmake/give him the win, so he chose not to trade. I personally would have taken the w there, but to each their own
