As a resident of BR for 4+years I would say the crime is a HUGE issue. I don't want to throw any shade on the YT channel (S.R.) business, but I cannot think of enough positive reasons to recommend moving to BR. MAYBE if you can move far enough OUT to one of the "burbs".

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, and mine is different than yours. I do live out in the "burbs" right now because I wanted my kids to be in Live Oak schools specifically, but I've been talking to my wife about the possibility of moving into Baton Rouge in the future, once the kids are moved out and we may want to downsize. There are parts of BR that I love would be happy to live in.
