Okay……I just saw some horrible driving, running through stop signs, almost hitting the motorist assistance vehicle, making improper lane changes, and clumsily negotiating a cloverleaf. Maybe what you see as “arrogance” in their driving, is people reacting to your aggressive driving. When a car jets up to an intersection, I slow down because I’m not sure if they are going to cut in front of me. That’s not arrogance, that’s defensive driving. If you are complaining about people asking for money at the gas station, that usually happens in the less desirable parts of town or usually near the interstate. Don’t hang out in gas stations at night!🤷♂️Baton Rouge has some issues, but it’s definitely not a bad place to live. We need better roads, schools, and parks, but the people are mostly nice and the food is good. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror if you think everyone around you is arrogant.

I'm from Baton Rouge (and I've been to France). I'll take France, any day. Agreed, most of the cops, here, are dirty. I'm sure you've noticed about 4 out of 5 billboards are attorneys. Attorneys run this city and all the cities surrounding it. The idea here is "It's legal if nobody stops us". The extended stay hotels are full because it's actually cheaper than trying to rent a place. What's more, these big apartment complexes could basically do whatever they want. Last year, a bunch of them increased the rent by over 20%. Fortunately, I could afford that, but many couldn't. My apartment wanted me to sign a new lease when they found out I was house shopping. When I didn't, they labeled me as "evicted", even though I moved out (illegal). They went to the JOP without me being properly serviced or even notified (illegal). Then, they accelerated the rent by two months on what they wrote off as an eviction (illegal). When I confronted management about all this, they said "Who's gonna stop us?". While I was trying to talk to an attorney about it, my ex-husband serves me with papers wanting custody of my now 11 yo daughter because he heard I was "evicted". In this state, someone guilty of domestic violence (which also plagues this state) aren't supposed to be awarded custody, but litigation abuse is also a problem that nobody seems to want to do anything about. My theory of why it's so awful, here, is because this is a state governed by old families that have been here forever. Louisiana began as a penal colony. Those families who have been here hundreds of years are the decendants of corrupt criminals. I think the crime is so bad, here, because people get tired of struggling. They get tired of living somewhere that targets the hardworking and criminalized poverty. They get tired of the classism, sexism and racism. Why should they toe the line in a state where the rich & corrupt decide what all the rules are.

Louisiana is a state hindered by failing education systems, low educational attainment, illiteracy, lack of economic/employment opportunities, high crime rates especially violent crimes, a broken criminal justice system, poor health outcomes/lack of affordable healthcare, low civic/voter participation, lack of adequate and safe affordable housing, large wealth inequality gaps, systemic racism, political corruption, and there's just a general lack of respect for others or lack of respect for life! We know that all areas have these same problems. But, it's just that NYC, LA, Miami, and other metro areas in the USA have enough of wealth to hide that side of their cities or at least overshadow our attention with their glitz and glamor and shining things while places like Baton Rouge, Jackson, and Montgomery don't have that benefit! The truth of the matter is that Baton Rouge and Louisiana in general really have a lot of wealth that passes through this state when you account for the tourism industry, the oil & gas industry, and all of the other natural resources that we have that are exploited by out of state oligarchs who extract these resources to sell but don't make meaningful investments within the state b/c they are not pressured by the Louisiana Legislature to financially contribute to Louisiana's education system, infrastructure, or our citizens/residents, etc. For example, the Exxon plant in Houston pays billions of dollars more in property taxes than the Exxon plant in BR which are similar in size and facilities! They are basically the same operation in two different cities, but the difference is Exxon property taxes are making significant investments towards Houston's education system and infrastructure and not to BR then you wonder why Houston's schools are roads/streets are so much better than BR. As with anything else, all you have to do is follow the money!! But, the bottom line is that the people and politicians here let them get away with it!!!

The ones who are transferred here to manage major operations will bring their own people in while purposely "overlooking" the locals. Mr Southern Life is 1000% correct about the traffic situations here....Its easy to spot and determine true wealth in BR, most here act like they make 1 million dollars a year and dont have a pot or a window. Everything is centered around "college life".....The politics here are another issue!!! People are fleeing BR for the neighboring towns for a reason. People are all different. Treat folks the way you want to be treated and quit being so judgmental. Nothing in your video showed why you are so against Baton Rouge. It just showed a really bad attitude.

I'm originally from the North but I live in Baton Rouge now. I totally DISAGREE with your message about the city. The people here are nice and the food is great. The culture here is great. Maybe you should get to understand how the culture along with the people here. I adjusted just fine to the area. It's a great place to live. I've seen some areas of LA and it's worst in other places. HONESTLY, maybe you should educate yourself about the area or maybe it's just you. The people are not arrogant. I'm northern and arrogant at heart. If you want to experience arrogance then you should go to the Northern states. You definitely experience the arrogance. There are a lot of greatly talented individuals within the state. From your admission, maybe it's the people you encounter. I guarantee you that you wouldn't drive through the hood saying anything of what you have stated in the video. Lastly, if you don't like Baton Rouge so much then maybe you should drive around the state! *DROPS MIC!

Just left Baton Rouge for good. No more dealing with entitled cretins and horrible drivers. Drivers leaving 20 ft between cars at traffic lights is ridiculous. This should be illegal. Beggars on the street corners. The town went STEEPLY downhill after Hurricane Katrina. Crime and grifters EVERYWHERE. Mayor is a joke. Police don't patrol much north of Florida Blvd. The safest Walmart is in Denham. No beggars. No used diapers in the parking lot. Workers actually RESPOND to requests for help. Store is orderly and clean. Our neighborhood... Gun shots heard once a month. Cars broken into 3 times in 3 years. Police blamed "unlocked car" as the reason for break-ins. Gun shots heard once a month.

Lol the only thing I hate about Dallas is the way people drive. I was in Dallas for not 2 minutes and I saw a semi drive like 65 mph riding a little sedan's bumper when there were literally 7 lanes of traffic open at midnight. My whole time staying there I noticed people doing this. They don't change lanes they just drive really fast behind you (even when you're all the way in the right lane).

I live 30 minutes from Baton Rouge and the accent you used is not how anyone I know speaks. A lot of what you have dealt with is because of the quick growth after Katrina. It was all so laid back before that . The people who were devastated in New Orleans when the great City Bowl flooded came to Ascension Parish and overflowed to Baton Rouge. Once that growth started then the urban building started . The people who came from New Orleans did not want to go back to a dead city . Who could blame them ? After that , many , many people came here from various states . If you are finding people put off or cold , more than likely it’s people from other states . Especially from up north . The friendliest people , I would have to say , are the Cajun people , who are different from the French . They came from Nova Scotia . When they came to Louisiana, they were horribly mistreated . That is probably why they treated strangers with friendliness. The English were here , imposing their will on everyone. So, if you are are experiencing unfriendliness and people imposing their will , I don’t think it would be the French influence. Now , the planing of the roads and whatever building is taking place , it’s been hurried . The area grew quick to accommodate everyone starting after Katrina , when new roads had to be built over night , and people from other states , ( to which there are many ) came for plant jobs etc… that’s the frustration your experiencing. The overwhelming Overflow that happened pretty much overnight. Before that , I remember driving my Alfa Romeo Milano with the top down … trees overlapping the nice little roads and waving to everyone I met . Now when we leave the house, it’s let’s hurry . I am so sorry for your bad experience but you might have to be the change you seek . Turn to Almighty God for solace and his son Jesus Christ because if you look for Solace in people , you will be disappointed. God Bless You ❤

I don't consider LA folks as hateful. I do think the driving here can suck though although I haven't been to BR. I am in Lafayette and while more looks nice, it goes back to maybe there being more privileged people too. The LSU is here after all and it seems to have that Houston culture I don't like maybe with just as good or better food. If there's hood, they seem to hide it more than in Lake Charles or possibly BR and New Orleans.
