@@shawnwhyte2293yes, or a hunter walking straight up the hill toward you. The argument that you might know what’s beyond a skylined target is not justification for firing. How do you know if a person, or cow, or horse isn’t walking up the rise behind the target? You don’t so don’t shoot. I used to hunt with a guy who couldn’t stay seated in his blind for more than an hour and would start wondering around. I had to be extra careful. My point being, we have no idea who or what might be wondering around behind a target.

Between KZbin and TV I'm amazed how many deer just run off after the shot ...what gives? Caliber, bullet placement or who knows? I've hunted for over 50 years and the only ones that ran off were the ones I cleanly missed which was way back in younger days but I always drop them. Two were running but most either a trot or walking. With does I go for head shots, bucks it's neck or spine or the triangle with a model 700 w 170gr semi partition hand loads...but I'm just saying I ain't bragging.

That's not it. I use a 6.5CM and mine typically drop like a sack of rocks. Filled all three tags this year and none went more than 5 yards. It's all down to shot placement and using the right rounds. I also run 500-750 rounds through that rifle at the range the rest of the year (varying from 50 to 400yds). A lot of the shots in this video were quartering and a couple were head on (which I simply cannot get behind if you're pretty much freeholding the rifle). Shit, both my kids used .223 for at one of their two each and those dropped like a rock, right on the spot. High shoulder with the right ammo and lots of range time. The other they each took with a .243 and a .30-06. Those wandered a little further, but not by much. As one would expect, the .243 wandered a little further (30yds or so) and the .30-06 made it about 10-15 yards. These are upstate NY deer .. typical 3yr old doe field dresses at 140# and a typical 8pt buck field dresses above 175#.

What are you talking about
@goldenfryingpanTF13 күн бұрын
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Even if you hit a deer in the lungs or heart, an instant drop is never guaranteed, as often the deer will run for a bit before bleeding out, since adrenaline surges through them when they are shot, which is why they don't automatically drop often.

Idk what you're talking about, because that's where you're supposed to aim for and shoot, it's called the boiler room, right behind the shoulder so you can hit the heart and lungs, and the liver isn't far off either, plus if it's high, you can even hit the spine. But I do agree it's irresponsible to shoot at a skylined deer, anything where you can see the skyline behind the deer is a no-go because you can't see what's behind the target and you could hit something you don't want to. This is all in the safety course we all have to take, my dad called them be sures, this is be sure of your target and what's behind it. Obviously you're not a hunter, or you're an armchair wannabe. Gtfo.

@curtstout4949Ай бұрын
@craigkowalczyk3516 it seems to me your one of those who takes a shot and hopes for the best......as per killing more or less deer is irrelevant and instead of just spitting out whatever you want you should do some research about P.A. you don't get 6 tags or more unless there are unsold anterless tags which you can then apply for after a certain date...... though there usually isn't any left......as for your pointless [ go cry more] comment shows your WEAK......get your ass to the range and do better but I doubt you will.....

Id rather be a shooter and harvester than a hunter. Hunters and fishermen suffer when they go get what theyre after. Shooters and catchers dont suffer and can feed their families. You wanna be a hunter when the world goes to shit or do you want to be a killer?
