You don't need to replace the input jack! All it is, is the contact for the cord's tip . . . it needs bend back a bit. Pull the jack out of the guitar, bend the contact arm back a bit, and stop adjusting when the cord goes in and out comfortably. That contact also acts as a spring arm to use torsion to hold your cord in by its tip.

@craigthomson36212 жыл бұрын
I like the Fender Player series for modding purposes - I play left-handed guitars and it is sometimes difficult to buy off the shelf anything differing from standard specs. On my (lefty) Player Tele I have fitted the following: Fender ‘51 Nocaster Telecaster pickups (they have flush/flat pole pieces so no problem on a lefty), new wiring harness with LH reverse audio taper and treble bleed, a Freeway 3B3-01 six way blade switch giving the following options: 1 Bridge, 2 Bridge and Neck, 3 Neck, 4 Bridge and Neck In-Parallel Out of Phase, 5 Bridge and Neck In Series Out of Phase, 6 Bridge and Neck In Series In Phase. Bridge is a GOTOH in-tune Chrome BS-TC2 Brass saddle lefty bridge, which also gives option for Top Load stringing, Nut is a Graphtec Tusq XL slotted lefty, string tree is Graphtec and strings are D’Addario NYXL 09-42. I always swap out Telecaster input jacks for ones that have a couple of screws going into the body holding the input jack in place. On the subject of Freeway switches for Fenders, the 10 position 5B5-01 Strat switches have options for bridge and neck pickups only - both In Parallel and also In Series.

Another lefty here. I am happy with my 2021 lefty tele and not planning to change anything on it in the near future. The only thing I did, like with any Fender guitar, rewired the pots to righty turning, so they are usable. No need to change the pickups, sofar loving them, the only possible change would be the tuners as they are a bit stiffer than I am used to.
@juhatarkka9867 Жыл бұрын
A tip: I have a left-handed version of the Player Tele, and found it useful to reverse the wiring on the tone pot. Before that, the logarithmic tone pot worked almost like an on-off tone switch in the left handed guitar (presumably they use same pots in the LH and RH versions and wire them in the mirror image at the factory)

My 2014 MIM Tele is beautiful. Amazing tone. Great comfortable neck with some really pretty grains. BUT the frets came so sharp its actually almost unplayable. My Squire Paranormal Carbonita had less sharp frets. And my Epi les Paul special. And Squier affinity Tele...I don't t expect it to be perfect at the price point and being an entry level Fender. But godamn, the frets legitimately make it feel like a $100 starter kit guitar. And not a brand name one. It was disappointing and really would recommend the high end squier model if your still newer. If you can work on your own gear or have a guy tho, get the Fender.

@Jeymez2 жыл бұрын
@@alexijeknavorian4914 that's exactly what it is, it seems to be a little more common on the Player Series for whatever reason. well Fender has different factories, one in California and the other in Mexico. they all go through some kind of machine, atleast the mainline series, but i think the complaint is about the frets. I've heard some people say there not as smooth as they should be, although i have heard Fender did update the Player Series in 2021. a friend of mine has a Player Series and his feels fine, it doesn't have rolled edges but they don't feel rough. that being said, maple fretboards do tend to be rougher on people if you don't buff em and smooth them out. you won't find that problem on the American versions, another thing i noticed is how the skinny the neck is. i have small hands and i could barely get my palm on it. that's not a good position to have your wrist bending a certain way to get your fingers on the frets. i don't get what Fender was trying to do here, this isn't a beginners guitar, well it can be, but only an adult would be able to buy one. no parent is gonna spend 800 on a guitar for a kid. i find the people over at Squier sometimes do a better job making the frets feel nice and playable. the necks on them are fine, but that shouldn't surprise people, those people over in China and Indonesia make peanuts alot of times, but yet they work hard.

After playing a real Tele once years ago I've always wanted one. I went to the Sam Ash by my house today to play and likely purchase a Player Series Tele. After playing a few of them, I was utterly disappointed. None of them sound or play like a Tele at all. I was testing through a small Vox Amp with no effects and little gain. I could barely tell by sound which position the the selector switch was in. The pickups were extremely underwhelming. The fret edges were rough and the necks on all of them didn't feel quite right. Just for sanity check, to see if maybe the amp was the problem, I grabbed a used 2002 Custom Shop Tele and plugged it in....not even close! The custom shop was an entirely different guitar and way better! I then tried a used 2010 Michael Kelly clone...way better than the Player series. I almost bought the MK. Going to keep saving my $$$ and get a guitar that actually sounds and plays like a Tele. Meanwhile I'll suffer with my 91 Strat and 62 Jazzmaster.

I wouldn't mind another MiM Telecaster but only in white but I have a couple of Squier Standard Teles with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders and other cheaper brand pickups but QPs are perfect for ANY Strat or Tele, in my humble opinion. There's nothing extra on the Telecaster, it's basic, it's modular, inexpensive and versatile - you get what you see and any good player can make one sing. Great guitars, design classics and nigh on indestructible. Some say that after the Apocalypse only Cockroaches, Keith Richards and Telecasters will survive and who's to say they're wrong?

I’m seriously considering selling this guitar. I have it a year now. Gave it plenty of time but it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. The real deal breakers for me is the neck and the pots. The neck just isn’t the one. It’s feels unrefined (a bit rough). You can get around on it but to me it’s never effortless. And the pots. I never opened the guitar and it’s been kept in great condition but the pots decide when the want to work and when not. When I turn the volume knob up full there’s a snap and the volume dips below half. And the tone knob crackles and hisses as you turn it. I’d have to get it serviced before I could sell it and that’s sad for a fender guitar that shouldn’t have come with these issues.
