I used to see statistics of international trade etc wo decades ago. Singapore and Hong Kong were at the top of the table with a huge import and huge export. I thought around that time that transshipment trade statistics boosted the numbers, and all of it was not really domestic produce. I wonder how to read these as comparable data.

Indonesian "insane leading bar" is understandable since almost literally half of Southeast Asia population concentrated in there. Me personally as Indonesian impressed with Thailand that somewhat surpass us even when monetary crisis hit the region during late '90s and early '00, also don't forget Singapore, tiny island with 7 digit population that managed to reach top 3 just insanely awesome. Anyway, I wonder what were 1,2k viewers think when they watched your content, but somewhat only contributed 75 likes? Is pressing like button is so complicated nowadays?

Yes. Indonesia is a superpower-in-the-making. I strongly believe Indonesia will even surpass India in total GDP in mid 2030s. Indonesia already has 2x income per capita than India. And it has a considerably big bug manageable population (280 mill) and more potential than India. India's population is too big (1.4 billion) for a land only 60% bigger than Indonesia. And India is too corrupt, too much Hindutva fascism. And the key of India's destruction is it is conflict with China. China will invest in Indonesia (a huge part of BRI) and just avoid India totally. The west doesn't like India either (India is a BRICS). Hence this Indian double-headed-snake will become India's undoing. I see a bright future of Indonesia and a complete doom for India.

What's incredible is how Vietnam got wiped out from the top spot after the 1970s replaced by Indonesia. Another interesting fact is how a tiny nation Singapore, a city state seems to have jumped to 3rd spot over other larger nations.

Its what years of war does to a nation. The majority of the Vietnam war occurred in what was the former country of South Vietnam. SV's economy peaks in 1963, and the U.S military intervention started in 1964 with Gulf of Tonkin. No coincidence. It's also why the U.S should have never funded the coup to remove President Ngo Dinh Diem. He was certainly an authoritarian dictator and had his faults, but for the majority of his rule, the country was at peace and the economy prospered. This immediately ended in the power vacuum after his death. It would take 31 YEARS for unified Vietnam's economy to reach just what the SOUTH's economy was during its peak under Ngo in 1963. One bullet set Vietnam's economic development back 30 years. Truly heartbreaking.

Because after the war the country suffered from an embargo initiated by the U.S. until basically 1995. They could do business with USSR members only which by that time were experiencing serious crises. China also invade the Vietnam’border in 1979, therefore the relationship was not good as well.

Well I'm glad I live in Singapore - a country with only 5.5M people and not much above 4M citizens and permanent residents. It has a greater GDP than the Philippines (110M), Vietnam (98M) and Malaysia (33M). Whilst Indonesia is the larest, that comes with around 275M people. So Indonesian GDP per capita is similar to that of both Philippines and Vietnam.

You will really notice that the Philippines have a higher ranking in times of Ramon Magsaysay, Fidel Ramos, and from Benigno Aquino III administration. The time of Marcos only spike a bit but crashes later after the People Power Revolution due to inflation caused by untimely Martial Law. When it comes to Duterte, the economy strives more due to the foundation laid by Ramos and rehabilitation that is done mostly by Aquino III what makes it the Philippines still competitive enough in Southeast Asian Nations. Conclusion? F*** golden age era from Marcoses, we obtain the Golden Age from Aquino III and at this moment, we are succumb back again to stone age due to high inflation caused by the presidency of our uneducated drop out president which is Marcos Jr.; majority of the Filipinos showing again how dumb we are.
