Top speed!!!! New Tao Tao 50cc moped, scooter!!!!!!!

This day was windy and I weighed 270lbs at the time, but seems to top out around the same mph now that I am lighter. Also this scooter is bone stock and assembled at home, no special tuning.

Speedos aren't accurate sometimes only real riders know that. Use a gps you'll see

That’s about what mine does. Change the spark plug every year. Change the oil frequently. Keep the tires around 40lbs of air. It will work fine

I have the same scooter unrestricted, the needle goes passed all the numbers :-), checked with the GPS speedometer on my phone, reached 45mph, which is flying on a small bike like that.The one in the video is actually going like 30-32mph (on mine, when the needle indicate 40mph, its going actually 30mph)

That's awesome. I got to 48mph GPS with a tailwind before. The motor started bogging on me though after about 10 miles of it. Pulled over and let it cool off and likely was just the carb flooding a little bit or something because it managed pretty well thereafter. I wish they did the ATM50a1 with 12in wheels then it'd be a smarter / safer experience for modding. I like 50cc b/c it doesn't require a motorcycle certification.

Always got up to '44' with a orange CDI & wire / iridium spark plug. I think that's all it takes with a carb tuning. Oh and the governor on the belt assembly that is kind of hard to really find / know where it's at. I recommend 4.5 gram sliders in the CVT variator too. They're fun but honestly the TaoTao isn't particularly fond of speed because of the 10in wheel tires.

Mine rolls 75 -80 with a big carb and a subwoofer strapped to the ass, stock cdi no governor but I keep the speedo buried for the most part unless I'm in town, I did find that my speedo is spot on by going thru a camera trap and also while using the gps speedometer to see because I couldn't believe I was burying the speedo by more than 30mph, I could get alot faster if I took my kickers off and built a pipe and got a dirt bike cdi but honestly the way I keep it pegged out if I removed my rev limiter I'd blow it up 😂 and as for the pipe I like my sound system I built for it, you've inspired me to maybe post some videos of mine while I shake it back, got it used, dude hit a deer n fixed it and sold it to pay a ticket, then a week after I got it I ate shit at 80mph. A stupid deer, I swerved the deer but when I hit my brakes at 80 the little ass tires ain't like it one bit and I laid over doing 73 plus my bass is rattling what's left of the body to pieces

That's pretty cool thing to mention. If a tiny RC car can RPM so heavily a 50cc engine is tiny compared to a motorcycle / car engine but should still run at greater efficiency when lubed with the right type of synthetic oil. I recommend 10W-50 Castrol Edge in those scooters.
