Yeah, I still think the different versions for Fates was a greedy idea. Pokémon versions don’t really work for a game like a Fates. It also doesn’t really let you pick what side you want to join when Corrin makes the choice, instead you had to pick earlier. I wonder if people regretted starting with the hoshido or nohr path first just because they bought that game.

Benny Boi I can understand why you felt it’s repetitive. Most of the academy arc is the same between the different paths, so it can be repetitive. Though the war arcs definitely help, and getting to know the different students can help with the beginning parts. Though I still think the game is really good, one of my favourites.

The original in terms of atmosphere is just something lost on the sequels. 3 was okay but it didn't really click like it was the sequel I wanted. I wanted a more grim and darker game similar to the original. A more Majora's Mask like Luigi's Mansion that more resembled the original concept, themes and overall spooky vibe. Nothing wrong with the charm with 3 just wasn't what I was personally looking for. Multiplayer is great but once th e novelty wears off, it's not something I will see someone going back to for hours and hours on end.

Maybe I should. 9: Okay, I wouldn’t put this on my list, because I don’t like putting remakes on these kinds of list, but this one has been a ton of fun. I really appreciate all of the touch-ups Grezzo made, and it makes the game so much better. 8: How many people confused this game with a certain Obsidian game, just because of the titles? I did, but at least both games are great. 7: I haven’t played this one, but the visual style reminds me of Hollow Knight for some reason. 6: This was my first game I’ve played in this franchise, and considering I don’t like strategy games, I was surprised at how much fun I had. Also, we got some great memes out of it. 5: Oh, this one. Every remake needs to have the same level of care put into it as this one. It’s actually kinda scary, and now we’re getting a remake of the third one. 4: I’ve always loved Tetris, and this somehow makes the concept fresh again. How it took this long to make something like this is beyond me. 3: This one is way more fun than it should’ve been. It could have used more missions, and less repetitive ones at that, but I had a lot of fun. 2: Now, THIS is how you make a long-dead franchise come back. This was fantastic, the music kicks ass, and the combat is great as ever. 1: I never really got into Dark Souls, so I was pleasantly surprised when I had an absolute blast with this game. How are these wonderful developers going to top this?

I’m a bit surprised you didn’t mention Risk of Rain 2 or A Plague Tale: Innocence. Risk of Rain 2 was my favorite indie game from last year (Yes, moreso than Untitled Goose Game), and A Plague Tale: Innocence was by far the best narrative game of 2019. Although, I don’t blame you for not including them, since they did fly under the radar shortly after their respective releases.

I do find it kind of funny to desire a revival of the Wars series, but then call it "Advance Wars". I've never really played the games myself, but calling it "Advance Wars" is kind of a dead giveaway that you haven't played the entire series, just the GBA (and maybe the single DS) games. The games were named after the system they were on, so Famicom Wars for the Famicom, Super Famicom Wars for the Super Famicom, Game Boy Wars for the Game Boy, and, of course, Advance Wars for the Game Boy Advance.

Oh, it's still there in Maddening via Breaker skills. And honestly, I like the removal of the Triangle. It puts more emphasis on actual stats and skills and not just giving you a free 15 hit and avoid because you have the right weapon type.

@@goldencyclone4984 Honestly, I dislike that. Having the Breaker skills hidden behind what I assume to be the hardest mode seems ridiculous to me. And while I do not agree that it should have been removed, lessening the benefits/detriments would have been better, at least in my opinion. I do like the emphasis on actual stats and skills, but giving yourself just a little extra edge by also placing and moving units strategically so that you get the right match-ups is something I enjoy greatly. But yes, I do agree with the Weapon Triangle being made too powerful. If it were to be implemented again (which I hope it does), it needs to only provide a GOOD benefit/detriment, not a game-breaking one.

Matthew Gostick breaker skills are not hidden behind any difficulties. It’s a skill that is unlock via mastery of a weapon type. Swords get axe breaker, axe gets lance breaker...etc. it’s usefulness is situationally dependent as it take up slots on your character passive skills. So each battle may need a different skill depending on who or what you are fighting. Over all it really pushes you to try and use intelligent to battle vs the type advantage approach. If you are short range fighter vs a archer then free hits for you. If they are a swordy and you are mage or archer the you get your free hits. If they survived the onslaught then follow up with anyone to get the remaining health to zero.

Matthew Gostick Eh, for a game like Three Houses it at least feels suitable, since more of the emphasis is on the use of arts and gambits, as well as building your units however you see fit. It’s not like in Echoes where there’s just not really anything to replace its absence.

RabbidLuigi, if you like games like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, might I recommend the _MASSIVELY_ underappreciated _Shining Force?_ It has a sequel as well, which is, if anything, better - _Shining Force II_ and both are for the Sega Genesis. Both are available on Steam for like $2 USD, and there's a free mobile phone version as well. It's more high-fantasy than Fire Emblem, lots more magic and fantasy races, as well as a lack of perma-death, since there's magic that can revive the dead.

Three Houses easily would land itself on the Top games I've played all year possibly all decade. I had so much fun with it. I played it on launch day and still actively playing it to this day. The replayability is insane and with the DLC right around the corner. Now is a good time as any to play.

Playing Crimson Flower first actually made me disappointed upon discovering how similar all the other routes are story-wise, and for that and my attachment to the Black Eagles characters it will probably stay my favorite route, even if it is the weakest in quality. I love the whole game, but my main criticism is how much content it reuses; and with how long it is compared to other Fire Emblem games, it makes it not as replayable as people are saying it is.

I can't take anyone who thinks the Church route is good seriously, I gotta be honest. I get not liking Crimson Flower -- it's my second-favorite behind Blue Lions, but I'm not blind to its faults -- but fuck the Church route and the horse it rode on.

How's this for a Top Ten/Five Idea for the new decade? Worst Localizations. You kind of covered this with worst voice acting but such a topic could still be interesting enough to talk about on its own. You know the drill: Glaring typos, awkward phrasing, incorrect translations of certain terms, failure to retrofit new English translations into the game proper, you know the drill. Also, you can stick to English if so desired. As much of a fail the Final Fantasy and Pokémon series have had with their Spanish localizations, it's pretty hard to describe what's wrong in a language you may not speak yourself. If I were to include a game, it would be Sonic Adventure 2. Voice clips constantly cutting each other off, lip flaps rarely matching up with character's lines, the VA's literally saying Japanese (and English) onomatopoeia, it's kind of a wreck.

Good list I enjoyed most of the games on the list (haven't played wargrooves, Outer wilds or Baba is you...yet) but I was hoping for Bloodstained to be on the list due to being not only a great game, but a kickstarter that kept its promises and Fuck you to Konami But other than that, enjoyable video
