My favorite Boss Battle is the Masked Man. *SPOILER ALERT TO MOTHER 3* Oh, Claus. Claus, Claus, Claus, you poor child. Claus's Redemption, as I like to call the last fight, is the only time I've ever cried because of a video game. Lucas went through hell all through out the game, only to reach the end and discover his brother was simply a puppet under the enemies' command. And the fight itself is soooooooo depressing! Lucas remembers his brother's scent, Hinawa tries to intervene, Claus commits sucide, and Flint and Lucas are left alone to repair the emotional damage that will never heal. It's more so the build up and the ending that make this one of my favorite boss, rather than the actual battle.

One of my favorites it's Ornstein and Smough fight, from Dark Souls. This fight is just epic! You fight one of the most fearsome knights in Lordran and his friend that it is a 2 tons executioner. When one of them goes down, the other absorb his power and become stronger. It's Dark Souls, so we already know it's hard, but fighting two bosses at the same time is insane! But when you defeat tem, you just feel so good! Ornstein returns in Dark Souls 2, but with no Smough and weaker, making the fight more forgettable.

I gotta agree with Lou being up there. I dug my heels in SO hard to get through that song and when I finally, FINALLY did it I actually whooped and hollered and gave my friend who was with me at the time a huge high five, and were were both completely stoked and amped that I finally did it. Man, I'd actually forgotten about that... Thanks for making me remember the good times Jirard, even if it was hell to take down Lou.

One of my favorite boss fight is against "The End" in Metal Gear Solid 3 snake eater. That fight was so stressful, yet so calm at the same time. It requires to pay attention to your environment to find that dude, yet if you stay to much in a position he will find you before you find him.

Probably gonna get some hate, but I enjoyed Tabuu more than Master Core. The fact that the adventure lead to this god-like figure and it took 6 of your own Smash Army just to stand a chance has forever left an impact on me. And beating him on Intense is one of the best satisfying challenges I've faced in a fighting game.

Actually in the events of Dark Ryu, that is his master. While Light Ryu is with his original master. Ryu has the capacity for both light and dark so they are both his master technically.

Kind of a weird example, but one boss that always stuck with me was Tidal Wave from Transformers for the PS2. Basically, this fight takes place after navigating a huge, sprawling battleship in the middle of the ocean. Then, finally, you reach the end and, lo and behold, the ENTIRE FREAKING LEVEL transforms into a Shadow of the Colossus-esque titan. It might be the nostalgia, but to me, it's one of most epic fights on the PS2.

My favorite boss battle is easily Ornstein and Smough from the first Dark Souls. The way they compliment each other's moves and design really stood out to me, and to make it that much more difficult, when you defeat one, the other absorbs their ally's energy. But I loved every second of it, and when I finally beat them, I was ecstatic.

The fight with Ursula from the first "Kingdom Hearts" has a place in my own heart. At the time, it was one of the biggest and most epic boss fights I've seen in a long time. The epic boss music also sets the feel of how big the fight will be. An interesting thing to note as well is when Ursula talks in the middle of the battle, her lips animate properly in sync with her words, as opposed to speaking with the infamous "sock puppet" effect in certain in-game cutscenes, so that's a lovely touch.

Tiamat in the first La-Mulana game. Hard mode, going for the "All I need is One Finger" achievement. The music is incredible, and the actual fight follows a mini-boss gauntlet required to unlock it.

I guess most people like him because of the surprise I mean they thought that emperor gestahl would be the villain but then kefka just chucks him off the edge. I didn't find kefka to be that funny really but I laughed at exdeath turning into a splinter and his snarky comments I guess I just like practical comedy but you are certainly right on that he didn't start as much but became something quite grand and yes this series does have a good variety

Top 10 Bosses that aren't final bosses *GO!!!* 10. Team Sledge Mamma from IGPX on PS2. It's basically Old School vs. New School. 9. Majima from Yakuza 1. Introducing an old rival that Kazuma has a history with to new players. Plus I liked Mark Hamill as Majima. 8. The Warden from Saints Row IV. You start out barely taking one out with one hp left, then you get better to the point where you fight one and barely break a sweat. 7. Clyde from Pac Man World 2. That boss is ludicrous but it's a real test of your mettle. 6. The Reaper from Kingdom Hearts II. It's got a clever gimmick and fun quick time event. 5. Metal Man from Mega Man 2. It's a fair fight in every sense of the word. 4. The Yian Kut-Ku from the original Monster Hunter on PS2. The first legit hunt of the series and it's a real challenge. 3. Polar Knight from Shovel Knight. There's a lot of implied history between them that's totally up to interpretation and feels like a fight of equals. 2. Shadow Mitsuo from Persona 4. It's got a really fun but kinda tough gimmick that makes it really unique. 1. Monsoon from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The music, the constant blocks and parries, everything about it is just delicious. Honorable Mention: Bob Barbas from DmC: Devil May Cry. The most memorable boss in a game with unmemorable and just terrible bosses.

I'll never forget the experience of scaling his demonic tower to battle 4 phases of rpg boss fight goodness while listening to one of the longest and most epic tracks I've ever heard in a video game.

Big shout out from me to Olmec from Spelunky. Sure, the battle isn't that complex. It's a lot like the final Bowser fight in Super Mario 3, but the biggest differences are difficulty, time dedication, and stakes. You die during this final stretch, you start from square one. This is a roguelike game with permadeath, so if you beat the odds and make it here, your heart is _pounding_. But watching that golden jackass sink into the lava feels so right. Of course, if you're a masochist, then you'll try doing a hell run, but I'm not that crazy.

The only fights i truly liked were Marluxia's and Larxene's in 2.5 final mix. These gmaes are kind of...for a lack of better words cheesy to me. You can kind of explain the redeath of undead enemies with a revival item by looking at the undead creatures as negative numbers. You're healing them, or adding to their number, until they're at 0. Once they're at 0, they're not undead or alive.

Speaking of twist bosses like Crocomire, a boss that I always remember is Mysterio from Spiderman 2. You go through a lot of trouble leading up to him, as he sends you challenge after challenge that you have to overcome, until finally you get to face him directly.Most bosses at this point. gain a standard on screen health bar of a small circle. Mysterio however gains a giant healthbar that fills itself 3 times. True to a master of illusion though, after all these psych-out tactics, one light punch instantly takes out all 3 levels of his health bar, and trigger the victory cinematic.

My Top Ten Boss Battles 10. Augus (Asura's Wrath) I like this battle because you really got to give me everything you got in this battle. Plus the music is awesome. 9. Gary Motherfucking Oak (Pokemon R/B/Y/G/FR/LG) The best of the champion battles with the best of the team (Arcanine got the best Attack, Rhydon has the best Defense, Alakazam got the best Special Attack , Exeggutor got the best Special Defense, Pidgeot got the best Speed and the stronger starter is hellishly strong). It gets even worse in the Fr/Lg rematch when he replaces Exeggutor with Heracross and Rhydon with Tyranitar! 8. Aletheia (Trauma Center: UTK 2) The challenge with the capital C. Infact, it does summon all the strains of Neo - Guilt you already fought in the game. Plus the music is awesome and it's pretty hard to predict which vein will be red next when you get to damage it (it doesn't go clockwise or counterclockwise, it goes really random). 7. Natural Killing Cyborg (Mother 3) One of the hardest bosses because he's got plenty of skills up his robotic sleeve: lasers, rockets, claws willing to crush you... He also tries to jump on you with his all weight! Shortly, the hardest battle in Mother 3 before Miracle Fassad. 6. Sanae Yochiya (Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism Extra Stage) I know that here she is just a mini boss, but daaaaaaaamn, she is incredibly strong! She got new spellcard, new patterns, even a new "Last Word"! 5. Sasori (Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 3) A hell of a boss, who can make you cry everytime you try to kill him. In fact, both his puppet form (Hiruko) and when he's without the Akatsuki cape are hard as hell since they are really fast and really strong. Meta Ridley (Metroid Zero Mission) I know someone would say " Diego you suck because Meta Ridley is easy because it doesn't move at all" and I'll appreciate, but believe me when I say that I found a lot of problems defeating this guy. Plus, his weakpoint is never exposed, because he takes your time and patience, since he shoots missiles and claws you really hard like if there wasn't a tomorrow. 3. Princess Shroob (All three of them) I get them together because they were all together a pain in the ass back in the day when I had the original game. First of all, the younger Princess Shroob is the mastermind of strategy and defense ( with this I'm not say she doesn't kick asses, on the contrary... She does, but being smart). Once you beat her, shit gets real, since the Cobalt Star you have been fighting for for all this time is actually a prison to Princess Shroob 's older sister. Then the final battle begins, with this new princess using a lot of skills, such as arm-charging as she was Wario or using a shroobified Chain Chomp... At the end of this breathe-taking battle, you understand that it's not over yet. Infact Elder Princess Shroob reveals her true form, a huge tentacular monster with 3'500 HPs, not counting the 300 around her crown, which without disactivating it, this battle would take ages! 2. Smithy (Super Mario RPG) Imagine a huge Excalibur-like sword coming down from the sky, which is actually a spaceship, from which a bearded evil smith comes out and begins re-modelating Bowser ' s castle like a factory. Ladies and gentlemen, enter Smithy, the final boss of Super Mario RPG. His first phase is easy peasy, but what happens when we descend into the depths of his castle? He MELTS and becomes one of the strongest bosses in game history. Infact, every five turns, his face varies in three different forms: Cage, Tank and Wizard (answer me if there are more, I don't remember right now), the wizard being the hardest to beat due of its high attack and defense. 1. Princess Kenny (South Park: The Stick of Truth) Tell me just one thing. WHY DOES THIS BATTLE EVEN EXIST?! We've been through rapist aliens, Jewish elves, cleptomaniac gnomes while under our dad's ballsack, nazi fetuses... But this is the most epic battle in all the game! First of all, it all starts with an anime-style music, then when you finally beat her, she gets back up stronger than ever... And nazi zombie too! From then on, shit hits repeatedly the fan, because you have to defeat her with all the supporting characters except her. That is the most epic battle in all the game, and I'm pretty sorry that south park didn't get other decent games like this.

My favourite boss fight ever has got to be the Liquid Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid 4. The music, the scenery, the gameplay, and more importantly than all... Them feels ! It was just a perfect conclusion for this epic game !

SaMatra. If you know what I'm talking about, then you know. For those who don't, that's the final boss of Star Control 2, and the fight was epic. You've build this awesome main ship that is literally the best thing in the galaxy for fighting anything else, then all those upgrades are stripped, you've barely got enough slots for fuel and crew quarters. You're suddenly forced to rely on your fleet. You have been practicing with your fleet haven't you? No? Weeeeell, no time like the present.

I don't have a top list but few bosses that I think are worth mentioning. - Diablo from diablo 2 for his welcoming quote. Also the game talks about him and the wanderer all the time, tounts you, Mefisto does it as well. And then you are the one who fries him and slay him. That's amazing. [Gruntilda style] - Psychonauts ending. Multi-form boss, platforming, plot twists. Great thing.

MAAAAN. One of the best boss fights for me would probably be Rahu 3 from Custom Robo. Not only do you fight him with all the members of your team that have been with you since the beginning, but when you fight him and beat him, there's this underlying satisfaction knowing you just took down the hardest fight in the game. Period.

Whole of Shadow of the Colossus is definitely my number 1. The bosses are fairly easy but together really shine, all of them are different and require different approach. I really wish I could play that game again without knowing anything about it, it's really the kind of experience you can get only once

I don't really wanna rank mine because they are all so awesome, but here are a few of mine... Blue from Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow: That feeling of beating Lance thinking you were now champion, only to find out that Blue was a step ahead and was waiting for you really put a lot of emotion into this fight, especially with how drained my team was after facing the elite 4. Psycho Mantis or fist fight with Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid: Like you said, the Psycho Mantis fight is super iconic and very memorable. I also love the fist fight with Liquid because it on top of the derelict Metal Gear Rex, and the music is so tense. Richter Belmont from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: You spent much of the game searching for him, and depending on the events preceding this battle, it could mean killing him, or destroying an orb floating around him, but this fight is just so cool. Zero/X from Mega Man X 5: Depending on who you play as, you fight the opposite character, but the feelings and hype are there regardless. I love both of these characters and know that they both respect and love each other like brothers, but they fight because they believe it is what needs to be done. This fight is so tense and difficult either way, but it's always gonna be one of my favorites.

Neo ExDeath is one of my favorites, because of how careful you have to be. You have four targets to take down, but you can't focus on one at a time, or else when he's down to just one, he'll spam Meteor. But at the same time you want to be sure he can't use Delta Attack. Plus, the ending cutscene is different depending on who's left alive in your party when you win. I didn't know that last part at first, since the one who died was Bartz, and as the lead character it seemed very appropriate.

One of my fave boss fights is with Ganon from Ocarina of Time. It was like trying to fight the Devil with a wall of fire surrounding you with dark clouds and lightning overhead, and the one weapon that can destroy him is knocked out of your reach.

I remember the final fight of Catherine. It was just as you described, a state of zen, I had been playing the game all day from start to finish when I woke up.
