Jirard isn't very familiar with the series. He's only played the first MGS, and he didn't play it until he had to complete it for the show, and completing it made him hate it because of how hard it is to get the Big Boss ranking. So his first experience with the game was really sour and it's a bummer that he'll never be able to appreciate it in full because of that.

It's so many people's number 1 because MGS pushed video games forward as an art form more and broke more new ground in the entire industry than any other PlayStation game. Kojima literally set out to make the greatest PlayStation game of all time, it was his goal. And he absolutely succeeded.

Henry Perez I dunno. CC had a mess of characters that didn't actually make sense as to why they joined up. And the ending disk is significantly shorter than the first one. However. Miguel's fight and theme music is amazing. I enjoyed the shit out of the game but it is flawed.

Retro Gamer Love they literally remade the game's from the ground up. Plus they added some new features such as adding time trials to the first two games. They're remakes not remasters. When Jak & Daxter was ported to the PS3 that is a true remaster.

ff7 may not be the greatest final fantasy. What it did for j rpgs in north america is huge. Square soft may have pulled out of the us like enix did a while before if it was not for the HUGE success of ff 7. If it wasnt for ff 7 we might not have the j rpgs in north america we do now.

That beggining talk about being a Nintendo fanboy is one reason why I respect and like you, because I agree completely. People always talking about "console wars" and how PC is better than consoles, it's just dumb. Why can't people just play what they love, like I LOVE Nintendo mainly for there early years( SNES might be my fav console ever, at least one if them) but then the PlayStation came along and I've stuck with them ever since( with the exception of the Nintendo DS.) So I've never owned any Xbox, and I'm not much of a PC gamer, but that doesn't mean I hate them or think they're bad, I just am a PlayStation guy. Like if someone got me an Xbox One for Christmas even tho I've never owned a single Xbox console in my life, I'd be excited, cause I'm sure it's an amazing console. Because, like you said, I JUST LOVE VIDEO GAMES IN GENERAL.

Jirad the Resident Evil 1 remake didn't come out on Dreamcast. That was Code: Veronica.. Resident Evil 1 remake was exclusive to the GameCube along with Resident Evil 0. They have only now been released on Xbox One and PS4.

Like the sort of game you give to a kid who just learned how their fingers work. It wasn't that easy or anything. I think it was the music that played when you spoke to anyone. fair enough but for all the times where I have seen people praising the PS1 and the games for it and for all the times I have seen people saying that it beat the N64 there are still only about 3 or 4 games on this list that I would be willing to put on a top 20 list for the N64 if they had came out on the N64 and honestly of all the games that came out on the PS1 I can't think of any that I would be willing to put ahead of FF7 nor would I be willing to put any N64 games ahead of Ocarina of Time they were both masterpieces when they came out. And although there are idoits these days that will say they are horrible because they "look bad" compared to todays standards. Breath of the Wild just came out and its getting perfect scores from almost everyone reviews it but I figure in 15 to 20 years there will be people saying it is overrated or awful because its graphics probably won't be able to compete with whatever they look in 15 to 20 years sorry for the rant.

I didn't grow up with the PS1, but man do I have a blast playing Parappa the Rapper. It might not be the best game, but it's so wacky, creative, and cute that me and my dad will regularly quote the raps. Parappa is a staple for rhythm gamers, and should at least be an honorable mention.

Oh, memory card woes... One day my mum had a meeting with a friend, who brought her two sons to our house. They completely wiped the memory card data from our PS1. My family had a lot of fun playing that together, and all our progress on all our games was gone. We had just reached the last level of the original Tomb Raider and I had unlocked every single extra character in Tekken 2. Bear in mind that I had unlocked Alex and Roger accidentally the first time and didn't even know how to replicate it...

I never owned any racing games on the Ps1. I didn't play many, but the other ones I did own were all on Nintendo 64. My top ten list is basically all the ps1 games I ever owned expect for two other Spryo games, and two other Tomb Raider games. To be honest I had very little interest in racing games outside of arcades.

In no particular order: FF7, FF Tactics, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, Breath of Fire 4 (think I am one of the few on this world that even played it lol), Parasite Eve, Castlevania SoN, Lunar SSS & Eternal Blue, Megaman X4, Tales of Eternia (same as Breath of Fire) and Valkyrie Profile (I rarely see people mention this one too) Also, anyone know the source of those bits of fan animation stuff on the video when he starts talking about FF7?

Great list!. I love Final Fantasy 7. The story is so deep and immersive, characters are top notch, atmosphere Is haunting and unforgettable, music is perfect and iconic and much more can be said but I will leave it there. Even Square said it is the greatest game they ever created.

Silim's Let's Plays Oh man, Megaman Zero has probably the best story out of all the Megaman games. It totally nails the ruthless aloofness of Zero while still allowing him to be a good guy. Plus that art, both official and sprite, is frickin' extraordinary. ZX looks good too. That's about it though. In my opinion those games suck assss.

I am talking about the FNAF levels of milking for the easy to impress fans at the time that to this day don't look criticaly at the majority of the franchise...

Sometimes, when the game was loading your save, Cloud would come out rather than one of the FF V characters (done in the FF V sprite style, of course). Other than that, identical to the old one.

The Game Stampede Wow, MegaMan X6 in your top ten? Have you played it recently? It used to be on my list until I went back and played it about a year ago. I forgot how damn hard it could be. Like the levels were it would go dark? I need to see! How many times did Zero fall to his death because I couldn't see anything? And the Gate Lab levels...especially the first one...nearly wall to wall spikes. You can bring the shadow armor and laugh at its attempts to murder you, only to realize your offensive capabilities have suffered. A lot.

What an interesting list. I love that you put some personal nostalgia favorites on there too. It keeps it from being too predictable. I know you limited yourself to only one mainline Final Fantasy, but would you put on numbers 8 and/or 9 if you didn't? I personally would root for The Legend Of Dragoon being on the list because that game is amazing and needs to be more than just a cult classic. Have you ever played it Jirard? It might make for a good Completionist episode one day. One game I love that I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned is Digimon World. Maybe it's not top 10 material, but it's great and there's gotta be people out there who like it that much.
