Love Ghostbusters! Such a blast from the past. Great video again 2000DC

For years, I assumed my copy of Lords of Midnight was broken, because after the first night, all I saw was a black screen that lasted for a very long time. One afternoon, I got distracted with something else and stepped away from the computer. Came back an hour later and saw that the night had passed and it gave me a status update on what had happened. I felt both very dumb but also overjoyed that it wasn't broken. I was just being impatient.

Pirates is definitely the king of Commodore 64 games! Still as playable today as when it was first released.

Yeah I enjoyed playing it when recording just as much as back in the day ☺️

I loved Ghostbusters on the C64, it's awesome. Pro Tipp: Like told in the video: when the Marshmallow man comes (at the city map) press B quickly to bait it. But only press B once! When you press it more often you actually use up your baits. And you don't want that, because Marshmallow Man will visit the city at least a second time again. I always wondered why it only works "once" - it took me quite a while to realize this.

I'm missing Gunship, Airborne Ranger and Defender of the Crown here. To each their own, of course.
@2000DC3 жыл бұрын
I played quite a bit of gunship, but I never enjoyed it as much as other flight sims.
@oscarjimenezgarrido75913 жыл бұрын
@@2000DC I guess that's fair. Me, I absolutely loved it to death and it still remains one of my favorite simulators of all time - taking context and hardware limitations into account. It was EXTREMELY technical, complex and considerably more strategic than other flying sims, even its own Microprose siblings, because of the peculiarities, physics and, of course, the role that attack helicopters play on real life battlefields - all of these aspects were captured with mind-boggling fidelity and made to fit into the humble 64k of the Commodore. True tech magic, if you ask me.
@2000DC3 жыл бұрын
I think that was part of the problem when I was younger. I played it like it was a jet, I didn't get the concept of popping up behind a hill to fire off a few rockets then drop back down and head off.

Defender of the Crown is even better than the Amiga version because they implemented the gameplay logic better.

Great video Sir, love your voice too, very calming! Did the original Chaos come out on the C64? I used to play that for hours with friends on the spectrum.

I had Ghostbusters, Silent Service and Project Stealth. I played GB a lot but could never beat the marshmallow man. I got into SS right at the end of my time with my C64 when I got my Sega Megadrive. I was even playing it Xmas eve before I opened my Megadrive on Xmas day. Project stealth I could never take to...
@2000DC3 жыл бұрын
Think I only beat the marshmallow man once when I was a kid. I get that with silent service, it cuts to the action from the map, while with PSF you have to travel quite a while to find the targets.

I had Ghostbusters on both the C64 and the NES...wish i never owned the NES version though. It just felt extremely dated on that system

i guess Exile is made in bitmap mode that makes it difficult to scroll because a huge amount of data needs to be moved in memory to scroll. that makes it a bit slow

Brilliant vid, loves the inclusion of Tracksuit Manager. Spent so many hours on that getting England to major championships. I would have included The Sentinel, only because I spent almost two years getting to level 9999..........

Truthfully, I never owned an actual C64. I know, shocker. I went right from the VIC-20 to a Commodore 128. But I spent at least 95 percent of the time in C64 mode.

@@2000DC I didn't know a word of English back then and never got a translated version of the game - if that existed, of course; truth is, I have no idea - so I just kind of fumbled around aimlessly without a clue of what I was doing, simply enjoying the action, the great music and the overall ambience.

Love Ghostbusters, but the games account system is a lie... it makes it so much more difficult to try and cheat it - always best to have your own account and grow it slowly. Plus, StayPuft goes fkn mental when you have a lot of money, like you don't get enough bait to stop him.
