I forced myself to develop a sort of color-blindness with these stupid and redundant mannerisms. My real hope was that, once the series was finished, TOR would put out a "good parts" version where all instances of sniffing, skirt-smoothing, the boys each thinking the other two knew more about women, Loial commenting about humans being hasty, Nynaeve obsessing about what a coward she was, Perrin telling us how Faile smells, the Aiel thinking how strange Wetlander humor is, men/women each thinking how strange the other is, and all other stupidly repetitive mannerisms were cut out or at least trimmed. She was the whole package! The whole story hinged on the things she did, Her deftness at the game of house and ability to think several steps ahead, her quest to find and guide the Dragon and her willingness to submit to Rand and then to potential death (doorway) in order for those ends to be achieved and you rank her feats of strength 2 out 5? Yes, not counting the Chosen, before the Ta'veren were found, trained up, Moraine was said to be the strongest channeler living (she was actually second to Cadsuane but everyone thought she was long dead as the oldest living Aes Sedai). They were surpassed by Nynaeve who was the strongest female (nonchosen human) to be ranked, then a tie with Elayne and Egwene. But nobody had the sheer raw power of Rand, he cleansed the entire one power of the taint (with the help of Nynaeve), he sealed the dark one in the Bore permanently, "Rand al'Thor is as strong in the One Power as it is possible to be." Not only that but he had a natural ability to weave his power without ever being taught.

My only issue with your ranking system is that it seems to leave out the mental ability of the channelers. Raw power is an independent trait, and very important, but it is ultimately funneled through the channeler's ability to direct the one power into appropriate weaves. Being proficient in using your power and talents in innovative ways, and coming up with entirely new methods of dealing with your problems is key to anyone, not just channelers, but because the one power is *so* versatile I would say having this mental elasticity is probably the second most important trait a channeler can have. For example, Egwene has this mental prowess in spades and it's one of the reasons why she's so prolific in both the one power and politics as she can adapt to whatever challenge she is facing with some kind of solution, or come up with a more efficient solution than what is expected. Nynaeve lacks this in pretty much every facet except healing. I'm not sure how much adding this new criteria would change the rankings as you have them now, if at all. I just think that not including it in the deliberation is a shame. Other than that I thought the video was stellar. The rankings are very close to my personal opinions so that means they're accurate, right?

You also discount dreaming as not only for chanellers and you have a point there but come on she should at least have gotten a 3. She was very deft in her weaving as was stated countless times and she actually rediscovered travelling as well as as how to create cuendillar. She also figured out the weave tom enter the world of dreams in the flesh and that does directly have to do with Talents. There's a good case for Arhold to make this list. 1/10 strength, 6/5 Talents for the yuge gateway talent, and 10/5 in Feats for stealing the seals from Taim using illusion, saving the Black Tower, dropping Dragonmount's lava on an entire army, and discovering the psychic dual bond with Pevara.

I just want to thank you for your time and incredible effort you put into these videos! I'm so thankful that you make these videos for us! I would like to make a couple of points about some of these ratings based off of my opinion on the wheel of time. I have listened to the Wheel Of Time audiobooks 4-5 times but I'm by no means and expert like you so this is just my personal opinion. I would rank Logain as an 8 for raw power. I know that he is very very strong, but I think he's two tiers under Rand and Ishamael. When everyone is attacked at the farm by trollocs Logain proves his prowess, but it's stated that Rand pulls more, believing it was just Lews Therin taking over, but we later learn that Lews Therin was only a side effect of Rand’s madness. Therefore he is actually capable of pulling that massive amount of Saidin, although it does state that he is straining to pull as much as he can. Logain states that if Rand is trying to prove that he's stronger, Logain already knows, and rand hadn't even reached his full strength by at least one tier. ( It's mentioned that men’s strength grows in jumps while women’s is more gradual and steady). Anyways, this is just my opinion. P.S. If I am correct and Logain is actually an 8 then Narishma ( not sure if that's spelled right, as I've never read the books ) should be a 7. Just my personal understanding, but I know that you are much more informed than I. Can't wait for your next videos!

I'd definitely have put Elayne on the list, but I understand why the others are above her. I would also have considered Siuan Sanche, though she lacks the objects of power and we really don't see many of her feats. But being able to adjust to the decrease in strength was interesting, not to mention how heroic she was, and that's a feat to top them all

First off you forgot about Talaan din Gelyn one of the few who's actually stated to be more powerful than nyneave. i get it, she has no feats besides being in the circle with the bowl of winds and briefly holding the angreal during (also manhandling nyneave easily like eaaasily after a few rounds of training. like if talaan could probably take nyneave in a 1v1 its weird shes not here), but I feel like raw strength is not as relevant as it should be on this list. Surprised to see aviendha so low. shes done stuff that wasn't mentioned, mostly rediscovering travelling instinctively with no hints like egwene had. i think at one point its mentioned that shes particularly strong with water compared to the majority. Pretty surprised to see moiraine on this list, although theres obviously the bias from the objects of the power category which i'm not sure how I feel about. shes only here because shes lucky enough to have an angreal strapped to her dick at all times. I don't feel like shes done anything overly special aside from her *offscreen* feats in the first book, if we're gunna count her abilities with weather, shes dwarfed in that category by Elayne who spent time learning to weave "massive cables" of the power in weather manipulation. A bunch of the Kin are implied to be waaay stronger than moraine. i just dont feel good about her presence on this list. Elayne should be on here i feel like (cough moiraine cough) ter'angreal and angreal making is pretty major. shes also seen to be exxxxtremely deft at learning/improvising weaves and might have more showings of that than anybody else. she is able to bond birgitte after basically just glimpsing the weave once in the tower kind of at the last second while shes under extreme stress. shes able to pretty much completely improvise the 4 way bond she made with rand and the other girls after watching the weaves from the first sister ceremony. as mentioned above pretty strong with weather

Uh---Narishma, not Narshima and Ablar not Albar? I like the way you analyzed this, different from any other that I've seen! Egwene developing the Flame of Tar Valon has got to be one of the biggest defining moments of the series. With Rand, you could also say he figured out (with Lew Therin's help) how to break a shield, although given the number 1 spot, it was kind of dumb that he let himself be shielded in the first place. I wish there had been a way to give a little more face time to very strong characters like Alivia and Sharina Malloy---it's just so tantalizing that esp Sharina gets "Wow, you should see this old grandma we found who's as strong as one of the Forsaken!" but, beyond a mention in Nynaeve's testing for the ring and her being a generally helpful and good influence for the "rebel" Aes Sedai, that's about it. Would have been in favor of seeing the endless descriptive passages and the Endless Plot of Doom scrapped in favor of a little more face time for these interesting side characters.
@nerdzone6 жыл бұрын
It is Narishma by the way and Logain is Ablar. Also, Nynaeve is 5/5 of Feats of Strength. Like, really! To be honest I do not see the 5/5 for Rand's Talents. Yes, he has some but he is just a straightforward powerhouse and not that complex of a channeler. Yes, 25/25 looks good but I would have put 3/5 to his Talents. For example compared to Nynaeve, Aviendha and Androl his talents are lacking. However, compared to any other character on the side of the Light (and most of the ones on the side of the Dark One) Rand's Feats of Strength are really ridiculous. I would have really not given him any rating there as his feats dwarf even Nynaeve's and may be compared only to Elan Morin Tedronai/Ishamael/Morridin's feats combined IMO. Great channel! Keep up the good work!

Nerd Zone. I see your point, however, I differ respectfully. I think Nynaeve is extremely talented at healing, maybe even the best ever. Rand though, in the last book was able to fight an entire army of trollocs. He was weaving hundreds of weaves at once to battle the army. Most say it’s very difficult to hold multiple weaves like three or four. Rand was able to do hundred over a long period of time. I don’t need to mention he cleansed the source with not only saidin but also saidar. Lastly, he was able to fight off circles of channelers and able to fight multiple opponents at once.

Hes also shown very powerful weather control (book 4 he makes it rain enough to flood alcair dal, moridin mentions later that weather control was a Talent nonexistant in the Age of Legends). Its also implied he has equal dexterity with all 5 elements plus a few other explicit Talents which I can't fully remember . Theres also all the stuff mentioned in the video (handling multiple weaves and the genius of Lews Therin) so a 5 is definitely warranted

14:37 Objection; Egwene came up with traveling on her own for the services of the White Tower and Moghedien only confirmed it. Even trying to pass it off as "rediscovering" it doesn't change how she worked it out as compared to Rand's ability to travel- which something Verin said was completely impossible. I still don't understand why Cuen'dillar armor isn't used in the Wheel of Time
@DLMoridin6 жыл бұрын
I can think of 3 reasons. 1. its difficult to make, while the aes sedai in age of legends could have made it that would have removed their presence from a battlefield. 2. Balefire will still kill your through it, While it wont damage the armour itself, it will still just kill the person wearing it. (Also I'd imagine using balefire on the person who made it, with enought power, would revert the armour back to normal gear). 3. From a narrative point of view, it'd remove any tension if a character or group of characters turned up outfitted in Cuen'dillar armour.
@Hawkido6 жыл бұрын
@@DLMoridin I always thought Cuen'dillar will stop the balefire beam... something about the scene with Nynaeve and that one Black Ajah with the balefire rod in book 4. I'll have to reread, I know the cuen'dillar objects were unaffected but I will have to review the scene to see if it mentions the wall undamaged behind it. If you have a quote that would be nice... However the armor would still be useful as you could make foil thick iron armor then convert it to Cuen'dillar so it is very light and also stronger than 14 inch thick tank armor, and it would still protect you from other forms of channeling such as Rand's favorite flame blade or burn-all-heat beam. I wonder if you could make a cuen'dillar door stop for proping open a gateway?
@DLMoridin6 жыл бұрын
@@Hawkido IIRC the wall behind them in that instance was damaged by the balefire. The only instances of Balefire not working, on something thats not heartstone, are Rand with Callandor in the world of dreams version of the Stone of Tear and when Perrin deals with a beam of it while being in the world of dreams as well. I dont think anything could prevent a gate way closing other then the time in Rhuidean when Rand stops avindia's gateway from closing with a weave (that i dont think we see again). As a Gateway is essentially a hole in reality i believe anything would be cut by it. took me a bit to find the passage you meant in book 4. but here. "the figurines did not break, of course. it seemed moghedien was right; not even balefire could destroy cuendillar" Chapter 54 into the palace. the bit before it mentions that "priceless figurines and bits of pillar and wall ceased to exist" but never explicitly mentions if anything behind the cuendillar objects survived.
@Hawkido6 жыл бұрын
@@DLMoridin I wonder if Maria is still available for answering that question. I would love to know as the question of why not make shields or breastplates of cuen'dillar has always bugged me... Shields would be a major no brainer... paperthin shields that could block a cannonshot (newton's laws of motion might still result in death of the shield bearer), but far better than having an explosive round detonate mid rank. No weapons due to the oaths of Aes Sedai, fine, but shields\armor is a no brainer, especially if the towershield only weighs a pound, or possibly less.
@DLMoridin6 жыл бұрын
@@Hawkido Add to that as to why we don't see Shields in use anyway. sure the Aiel use leather buckler/targe style shields but it never gets mentioned as part of anyone else's set up. The borderlands would have a much easier time if they adopted the roman style formations and shields. But it generally seems that the height of military technology (barring the Band of the Red Hand) is Heavy Cav. (armoured knights on horseback). other then the Seanchan no one used channelers in combat either. The green ajah should have camped out along the blight, that would have been a huge help. Aes Sedai can't fight humans, unless they darkfreinds or a direct threat to their life, Aiel wiseones never get attacked by other Aiel untill the Shaido betrayal. Seafolk channelers can fight but the times we hear about it is against Seanchan. The lack of shields could be a expense thing or a reaction to the bows of the world being rubbish, only two rivers people have decent bows and they use them for hunting/wolf defence. It's all swords, pikes and horse.

Hard to argue with much on the list. The only thing I wonder is, is it actually irrevocably stated that nothing can be more powerful than Rand? I didn't get that feeling, just that he was very strong, but it's entirely possible I missed that. Also, I did think about Elayne as well. I think she's the perfect special mention, just because of the sheer amount of things minor and major that she either took part in or created/did. I think other than that, the main consideration would be a sea folk channeler, but they aren't quite so detailed as individuals as you might like, even in RJs days where everything was verbose.

I like the video but a few minor things that irked me. Nynaeve's feats of strength score should have been an easy 5/5. She defeated Moghedian alone, healed Talmanes from the brink of death by herself (albiet with an angreal), and was able to hold an ABSURD amount of the one power during the cleansing of Saidin. I understand that she wasn't guiding the flows here, but just holding that amount would have been enough to kill many others. In addition, I feel like Egwene's power level was a little undercut. I don't think she was at the same level as Nyneve or Alivia, as implicitly stated within the books, but she could still channel and split her weaves 7 times while under the effects of forkroot. Come on, that has to imply that she has some SERIOUS raw power, at least an 8 out of 10. Otherwise, good video man. I've enjoyed every video of yours I have seen so keep it up man!

You said that Elayne didn't do well in having objects of power. Now while I understand that being able to make them would go into talent, she learned that in part by being around them a lot. Including ones that let her dream, an a'dam, which may be evil, but is still a item of power, several that she made and the seed that Rand gives her which can let her make angreal. While none of these are as impressive as some of the things that others use I'd be hard pressed to say that combined they weren't fairly impressive.

Dreaming is different than just being able to enter Tel'aran'rhiod. Non-Dreamers have to use ter'angreal to enter the dream or be brought into it by a dreamwalker. 1. Aviendha does gain access to some ter-angreal and angreal too, she helps Elayne sort out the cache from Ebou Dar, and is loaned an an'greal several times which face it, would have been hers if she was from the white tower. 2. Damer Flynn heals severing/stilling BECAUSE of Nynaeve, it is hearing what Nynaeve does to Logain and looking into that that allows him to figure out the male way of doing it. It doesn't affect his talent, but he does it because of Nynaeve. Also it is clear that a woman healing a man results in no loss of strength and a man healing a woman results in no loss of strength. We know a woman healing a woman from stilling results in a great reduction of strength, although never given an example, it is probably safe to assume a man healing a man from stilling/gentling would also be very weak. 3. Narshima would be a 9/10 if he is very close to Rand and Logain. He hasn't reached his full potential either. Also Nynaeve, Aviendha, Narshima, Damer, Egwene Rand, Graendal, Lanfear , Elayne 4. Egwene is a 5/5 for talents - come on dude, she rediscovers travelling., I suspect Sorelea discovers this weave because of Egwene too, Egwene discovers the flame of Tar'valon weave too in addition to Cuendillar, and dreaming is a HUGE thing, not just being able to read the future which Perrin, who turns out to be the king of tel'aran'rhiod in the end can also do, but not as prolifically, it's huge dude, while dreaming is not restricted to channelers it is far more common amongst them, it is possible Egwene is a dreamer because she is a channeler, which you can't disqualify her there. She is a 5/5 for talents. Egwene and Aginor are your biggest mistakes in this category imo. Egwene's flame of tar'valon weave is a talent category, how she uses it and what she accomplishes with it is one of the most powerful feats of strength in the book - in terms of power and usefulness Flame of tar'valon is as powerful as balefire, and travelling for women was the most effective weave of all. Egwene should be 20/25 above Logain, and Alivia, 5. Nynaeve is a 9/10 with the power (and she isn't even at her full potential by the end of the series), Nynaeve defeats Moghedien before she even removes her block, with very little training under her belt, she is no where near her full potential there, imo, she likely would have matched Alivia when she reaches her full potential, only Sharina Melloy, the Grandmother novice is stronger than Nynaeve and well anyone else without having being trained. Nynaeve can also sense incoming evil, as well as storms. No doubt she'd be windfinder level if she'd trained with them. I don't know if Ta'lann is stronger than Nynaeve, when they meet with the blow of the winds, Talann is 16, Nynaeve in her early 20s, Nynaeve actually hasn't used the one power much and has only just recently lost her block, Tal'aan, though at deck hand level would have had far more consistent training than Nynaeve at this point though much younger so possibly would have grown more and is stated as being almost as strong as Nynaeve but not quite. Nyaneve has just accomplished a lot more than the girl though due to exposure perhaps. Ta'lann can learn weaves as fast as Nynaeve can and does best her twice in the end in t he duelling training - however Ta'lann has practised a hell of a lot more than Nynaeve at it, I would say despite Tal'ann's incredible strength when Nynaeve reaches her full potential and Ta'lann hers, Nynaeve would bet stronger. For strength in female channelrs it's probably the 1. Sharina Melloy - Grandmotherly novice discovered by the Saldea Ase Sedai 2. Nynaeve/Alivia joint 2nd 3. Lanfear 4. Semirahge/Graendal 5. Ta'lann 6. Egwene 7. Elayne & Aviendha joint 7 6. Elayne has the largest amount of objects of the power, she also duplicates them which is her main skill, she is as good as windfinders in the end with weaves of air and water when she trains with them and that's not even her full potential. Elayne's capturing of the throne of Andor and winning it, even able to manipulate Perrin out of the crown of the Two Rivers (relegating him to steward Lord, even though he will get the throne of Saldea and the two Rivers, Elayne's duplication of the fox medallion is instrumental in a couple of Mat's' victories, I would have her at a 3 or 4/5 with talents and skills and a 4/5 with feats of strength. Power wise she is 6/10, and object sof the power she is 5/5 which would but her at 18 or 19/25 on par with Alivia and I would have made the list the Top 11 channelers for the light. All in all, modifications to an otherwise very good list. 1. Egwene gets 3rd spot after Nynaeve 2. Elayne comes in on par with Alivia or just behind her on par with Logain even though both are stronger in the one poer.

The process for a man discovering a weave will be completely different to a female discovering a weave and vice-versa so saying he did it “ because of Nyneave” isn’t accurate Imo. Otherwise you have to take away the discovery of travelling from Egwene since the men did it first and the women were all aware of that, and were very motivated to get channeling for themselves because of it.

@@LouisKing995 Yeh, but it doesn't change the fact that Nynaeve does the impossible first, and once she does it, Damer now knows it is possible. He then manages to figure out how using the male half. He would not have known to do it or likely even bothered to try to the point of discovery if she hadn't done the impossible first. Some thoughts: 1) I echo the thought that Elayne deserves a spot above Moirraine for her talent with making Terangreal, her ability to pull apart weaves (She wasn't successful her first time but still showed the ability to do so) her abilities with weather, and her feats of strength including healing of the weather with the sea folk and the bowl of the winds. On top of that she adapted the use of bonding to bond multiple people. Elayne also had objects the power from Ebou Dar. 2) You missed Egwene re-discovering traveling. She figured that out on her own based on her conversations with Rand and Moghedien, despite Moghedien trying to keep the secret form her. 3) Aviendha did have an angreal gifted to her from Elayne that was found in Ebou Dar, and she also intuitively formed a gateway without being taught how.
@danboom1014 жыл бұрын
1) her talents would have been high due to making terangreal, but she's relatively weak in the power compared to everyone on the list. She also has essentially no impressive solo feats, almost all of her good moments come in a circle. 2) Egwene was taught a weave by the wise ones that was a parallel of traveling. It allowed a person to enter the dream in the flesh, something they called evil. She also did in fact question mogedhien on the workings of traveling, as well as discussing with Rand who had already discovered it. It's not all that impressive given all of the "tips and tricks" to make it work. 3) yes Avi did have an angreal. With the gateway though, she couldn't use it against after that first time. It was a panic moment that she couldn't replicate, so I have a hard time giving her that as a "feat of strength".

Talaan, or something close to that. Yup. I looked it up. Talaan din Gelyn. Here: wot.fandom.com/wiki/Talaan_din_Gelyn

Nynaeve wasn't at her potential yet either. And i believe it had something to do with the size of the "flows" that the sea folk handle being that they have to combat the ocean and storms, more than her being stronger in the actual amount of power she can draw. But youre right either way she should have made the list being able to challenge the strongest woman

Excellent ranking system! I feel like the feats of strength thing was a tipping point for a lote of characters.

Loved the listing. totally awesome in the composition. I would've thought Moirane would have rated higher but I see your call on that and agree.

Elayne had all the objects found in the storeroom, and was equivalent to avi at least as far as strength. She was able to make objects of the power. Got that one wrong for Shure. Also was surprised to not see any on the aiel wise ones on the list, although I guess I can understand that. Might have been better to do top 20.

I know this is over 4 years old but to be fair to the Aiel, we don't TRULY get a grasp of their channeler's strengths, just that they are stronger than they thought in comparison to the Aes Sedai.

Aviendha has a turtle brooch loaned by Elayne and was used in the Shayol Ghul fight..

Glad Moiraine made the list. I started reading the books when there were I think only 5 out, I read the next 2 books, six and seven then stopped. I HATE waiting on books to come out. I know the books have been out for a long time but I am only now starting back. I remember Moiraine dieing or disappearing in book 4-6 and well I really liked her even if she could be pushy and overbearing. She did what she thought she had to do to save the world. I missed her and thought she got a raw deal and hope she came back later on........

*Narishma *Ablar If men have more raw strength in the Power, there's no way Alivia should be ranked a 10. If Rand is a 10 in raw power, Alivia should be no more than a 7, as he is easily that much stronger than her. Outside of Nynaeve, Elayne, Aviendha, and Egwene, no female Aes Sedai should be ranked above about a 4, and the 4s would really only include Moiraine, Siuane, and Cadsuane.

Thank you .. for a moment I thought I misspelled the names. Egwene was not stonger than Cadsuane. The Wheel of Time companion gave Cadsuane several level above Egwene though.

Siuane would box your ears and have your hide as a saddle for not having her name on this list as a tie with Moiraine, but thats just my opinion. I know she was stilled, but the woman had sass, class and even though she was caught off guard by Elaida, i bet in a duel she'd have kicked some serious Red ass. I'm sure im forgetting reasons shes not quite on the list, but to me, the woman was amazing and deserves an honorable mention :D Great video and channel. I'll subscribe on that note.

Not on my account because my phones broken but in your talents section for Egwene, • dreaming and dreamwalking are not the same thing. •Dream walking can be done without the power ( the wise ones do this in the novels). •dreaming is a talent that allows Egwene to have prophetic dreams ( kinda like foretelling but more vague) it 100% has to do with the power. And now you've made do something I thought was impossible, defend Egwene lol.

It seems like Logain and Egwene had roughly the same generic talents in the power (splitting weaves, fast learning) with fewer explicit talents (uncommon strength in earth and metals, ability to create cuellendilar) and somehow got a higher score?

Did Avidenha carry the Turtle Angreal given to her by Elayne right before the bowl of the winds?
@belag52625 жыл бұрын
Egwene is a boss. I get that you had to break down numbers, but she should have been higher. I get that some readers don't really enjoy her character for some of the series, but at the end of the day she was almost as influential as the Dragon Reborn himself and she did a bunch of crazy amazing things.
