Nanny lists the Top Ten Fears of Aging Seniors and discusses the various Coping Mechanisms with lots of personal anecdotes. She points out the differences between WORRY and ANXIETY: worry being about real things and easy to control, and anxiety which is created within your mind . Her goal is to keep the discussion of The FEARS OF AGING SENIORS on an upbeat level and has 2 very cute solutions for isolation and loneliness! Moose joins Nanny near the end of the video to explain his TOP FEAR of AGING and REVEALS some very personal episodes of his recent health issues and life. There is humor and empathy here and if your FEARS OF AGING are not addressed in this video, please comment and explain if you wish. ❤️NANNY

I forgot one important helpful hint. I have fallen a lot! I use a cane for short walks, a walker for longer walks and for longest, a wheelchair. Even when I go to my backyard, I always have the phone where I can reach it. It helped when I fell in the backyard and could not get up. Just a thought! Blessings to you both, Sharon

Solid suggestions, Nanny. Petting a beloved furbaby is the best! Canes are very helpful for balance & support. I currently don't nap, but I do go in to bed 2 hrs early. That gives me dedicated time to pray, to read my devotionals, then to read a book for at least an hour. Then I turn on tv to an old comedy like Everybody Loves Raymond & I drift right off to sleep. I fall asleep to laughter. So grateful for every day! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY

Hi, I’m new to your channel ..I’m 76 and already can relate to the list of fears..I live alone and have for many years ( and honestly enjoy it) ...I just sold my home and moved into a smaller Villa where all the outside work is done for me 👏🏼👏🏼. Was a difficult move because I built it in 87 and have many memories there but did not need all the work involved with it.. My biggest fear is also falling because I’m alone and would have to burden my children with many of my needs,,and always being very independent that would be difficult for me..My secret is to always remind myself to SLOW DOWN,,,,I have always done things at a fast pace.. You two are just adorable and wish you many more happy years together...I do have a cat 😊🌷🌷

Hi Flladybug... and thank you so much for subbing and commenting! So glad you are enjoying your new ‘work free’ home AND HAVE YOUR CAT! When Moose snd I moved from the home where we raised our 6 kids, I couldn’t ride down that street for a year.... I missed it so much! But now we are in a tiny darling Adobe cottage on our youngest daughter’s property , near all 30 grands and love it! Sounds like we could be the Fear Falls Sistas.!! I am delegating the bird feeding to a granddaughter and taking more “time out” ... what did Scarlett O’Hara say in Gone With the Wind?... “ I’ll worry about that tomorrow!” (or some such words) ...welcome to our channel, Flladybug! ❤️NANNY

This may be a little long but I just wanted you two to know that you have inspired me a lot! You see, two years and two babies into my marriage my husband fell off a roof (he does HVAC work) and broke his hip. Back then it was traction so his leg was tied to a bar for weeks. Well, that was in 1981. We were in our 20’s. I knew nothing about workmen’s comp or anything and I worried how I was gonna take care of two little babies, have income, etc. That was a huge learning lesson. During the years my husband has had injuries due to work and then he developed bone infections; has had toes amputated, fevers, home iv’s which I had to give. Then in 2017 he broke his femur at the knee but it was a straight break, it was straight up the bone. Five surgeries later for the last three years I had to take over everything. Home repairs, lifting, driving, you name it. And the lights outside, yes, I can’t reach them even on a ladder so we had to call people in to change them. In 40 years that was the first time we ever had to call people to help us. It’s an awful feeling when you have been self-sufficient and then realize you need help. My husband is also on a walker so I have to help him bath, get in the car, etc. In October of last year I woke up to the room spinning, went to the er (first time for me) and eventually was diagnosed with a vestibular disorder. Now I am off balance and some days are good and some aren’t. I’m still trying to take care of the hubby so watching your video is like watching friends in the same spot I’m in with nobody else to talk with. What I”m trying to say is you encourage me because some days I’m at my wits end just trying to take care of myself with the dizzy problems now and it’s hard taking care of someone else when you don’t feel good yourself. Thank you and please keep the videos coming. We are only in our 60’s and having to deal with health issues already, but we are trying to keep moving forward.

Hello.... Thank you so much for commenting and for your very kind remarks.... but I must say that YOU are an inspiration to everyone ! How hard it must have been to have all that happen to you at such a young age and I admire your mental and physical strength. And here you both are ...in your 60’s, surviving and still taking care of each other. I have such admiration for you both ... your hubby for continuing to work with all his health problems and you for all that you have taken on THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. God bless you both...STAY STRONG... you are not alone...and keep in touch! Hugs and ❤️NANNY

You are so right about kitty love. Our cat runs the house, goes from lap to lap, watches us constantly and sets our individual schedule waking each of us up at our specific time each day. We are downsizing to an apartment from a big house we have been in for 40 years. He will move with us. Hope he adjusts to a smaller place. You both are so darling. ❤️

Nanny, thank you so much for this down to earth video. You pointed out almost all my fears since turning 80 yrs. My biggest fear is the horrible news we have pushed down our throats constantly, and I am guilty of watching hours and hours of this knowing I can't solve the world problems. I feel terrified how our young ones are going to survive it all. You have opened my eyes, and I am going to take the advice that Lois' father gave her. I can't solve all these many problems. I'm going to shut the computer down a few hours a day and work on my hobbies!

Totally agree with everything you said! My mom is 85 and over the last couple of years we have caught, fixed and released the feral cat colony by her house and she now has 2 of them in her house with her original house cat who has passed away lately and she also feeds the ones outside a couple of times a day. She certainly is doing much better with having the cats to care for, than she would if she had none especially with the pandemic and our inability to go to the casino a couple times a month as we did prior to the pandemic. I do her grocery shopping and such so she doesn't get away from the house much except for a few weekend drives we have taken. She says every day that if it wasn't for the cats....... thanks for so many good tips that I can pass on to her and keep in the back of my mind for my own future.

Oh Nanny, I loved our little chat today, and all the things you had on your list have struck a chord with many of us. I do agree that having a pet is a great way to diminish stress or anxiety and they are of course wonderful company. We have a little Bichon Frise who, luckily, doesnt require too many walks a day but he motivates myself and my husband to take a lovely leisurely stroll every morning around our neighbourhood and in doing so we wave and meet many of our community. Thank you for your videos, they are inspirational, sometimes very funny and always very enjoyable. Bless you both and your little kitty. Averil UK X

I am so glad I found your channel. I have watched all the older ones and look forward to your new videos.... I can relate to you and your issues.... YOU inspire me! You and Moose have such a positive attitude and that is what it's all about for happiness. My husband is more active outside like you Nanny, he gardens,( has 300 ft of thornless blackberries that he shares with our friends and neighbors every year) tends to chickens, plants the flowers and feeds the birds, he loves cooking cajun recipes, barbecuing and making smoked sausage..... I am so thankful for him.... I love to tat, knit, crochet, craft, old fashion cooking like grandma did, and I try new recipes occasionally. I love, reading my bible and watching decent movies on tv. We have 3 sons and their families and don't get to see them as often as we would like due to covid19. Thank you again for sharing your life and thoughts. I am thinking about getting a few hats now, lol. God Bless you and Moose and I pray for your long healthy life ahead....... Roe-Lin Hills in the Ozarks...... Roe and Linda Strickland (age 72)

Exercise: use your bed as your exercise mat. You may not be able to get on your knees and do some of the yoga poses, but it is the best place to a bunch of stretches to get your day going, and getting up is a lot easier. Hope this is helpful and stretch, stretch, stretch as much as you can. Hugs to everyone.

Hello Nanny, as usual you have so many words of wisdom and encouragement. I am very lonesome since losing my dear husband of 55 years. I WAS going to our wonderful senior center and participating in their marvelous activities. Then COVID hit. I have not driven in many years since I had three strokes in two days. That means relying on Lift and Uber. I am not comfortable using them now with COVID. So I have been at home. I have used this time to do a lot of sorting of my extensive collections of hobby items. I work for a while then take a rest. Then repeat. I do have my recipe for relaxing.... I “comfort” myself with attention to my five senses. TOUCH, TASTE, SMELL, SIGHT, HEARING. When you are sitting, put a cozy throw blanket over your legs. Have some chocolate and a relaxing cup of tea. Light a fragrant candle. Have something that you love to look at ( mine is flowers). Put on some beautiful, relaxing music. The most important is my wonderful little dog. I believe that a pet is vital to a person’s wellbeing. The love that they show in immeasurable. We can learn so much from them. When they get up, they always stretch. After eating they drink plenty of water. When they are tired they lay down. They get plenty of sleep. When they need exercise they play. The list goes on and on. I have always had creative hobbies. When you see something that you spent your time on and see the completed item, it gives a sense of pride. So many of the things that I mention reflect what you said. This has always been my “recipe”. I also tried to make our home a relaxing place to be. Color is very important. If your home is decorated with bright reds, oranges and yellows, those are stimulating colors. Blues, roses and greens are relaxing colors. We are all more affected by color than most people understand. Unfortunately COVID is not going away soon so perhaps changes to ones life might help the stress that we are all feeling. I am so happy that you and Moose have each other. You have your positive attitude, your garden, your hobbies. Your beautiful family is your greatest blessing. As always I wish you both health and happiness. Blessings to you both, Sharon

My 21 year old son also told me that sleep wanes/ or is it wears? I too suffer sleep deprivation. I am 62 yr.old and have already fallen several times without too much pain and trauma. I have extreme back pain due to degenerative disc. Have already had several surgeries and a knee replacement. You are correct that longevity is a gift and should be appreciated with an attitude of gratitude. Cute, my husband is a Bill too. We Love pets too. God has blessed us with those. We have 3 rescued cats and just put down our chocolate lab, Chewy but we still have his sweet sister, a yellow lab, named Rosie. She is my depression regulator. When I feel anxious, for whatever reason. She's right by my side, with links of love, and the petting of her, just as with our cats, brings such calm and warmth. Love ya, and have added you and Moose to my prayers. Please and prosperity, Cindy

Absolutely inspiring.....as well as the TRUTH! I have the silly degrees in psychology.....and yet, I couldn't have made better suggestions....starting with the living with gratitude in your spirit. Our animals bring us such love and joy....we have both kitties and pups. They are literally like family to us.....and in our almost 40 yrs together.... we've never not had animals. I know we're living in a time when many don't believe in a Creator.....I pray everyone who doesn't.....finds their way to Him..... disbelief doesn't change what is! I miss my parents so very much, but I'm comforted KNOWING that they are with our Heavenly Father. Love y'all! God bless you both!

Thank You! Really enjoyed our chat! You were doing most ... as usual! lol 😂 My husband and I moved my Mother in with us after my daddy died .... and eventually ... became her caregiver. As she had a light stroke ... Praise the Lord ... it hit her right side affecting her left side. So she could still walk ... with a walker ... but she fell a lot! And there was nothing wrong with her speech! Broke her shoulder ... hip ... wrist ... (MOSSIE ... MY FAVORITE SONG SUNG BY DORIS DAY! Listened to it in my teens!!) But as I was saying about you Mother ... I learned a lot about caring for the elderly and saw what was in store for me ... and she reminded me all the time what was in store! lol That’s so much for your advice help ... much appreciated! Love You Both! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹 She’s with Jesus now for 12 Years! Really miss her! When I have worries ... I give them to Father God .... as He wants to ... sometimes I take them back ... but then I think ... Oh ... Father God is handling that! lol I would tell that to Mother and she would say, Oh HE has enough to handle! She was one of a kind! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🌹🌹

Wouldn't it be lovley if the whole world was made up of people just like you, positive, caring and inspiring and really enjoying your life.

I'm new to your channel but I'm gonna stick with you. You are very fortunate to have a hubby with a great personality and enjoys your company. We're not all that lucky. I have a good man but he lacks thise things. He's ill at the moment so I'll cut him a break. I know he loves me like crazy. I do have that fear of falling. I'm 74. I had a very hard fall on concrete while on vacation 3 yrs ago. Ended up in a complicated hip surgery. Not fully recovered. So I use a cane. I enjoy my flowers and oh yes my Bengal kitty. She's my sidekick. Loves me alot. Oh and 95 lb choc lab. I'll take your advise about these things. I have a few of these things I worry about. But worrying is silly. I am blessed with great kids and grands who all live not far away. I'm blessed. Thank you and your sweet Moose for talking to us and I'll take your advice about the tineouts..stretching and we'll I already have the kitty!

Hello, I was given this advice once I became a Senior - is to wear my Tennie Shoes, when we are around any cement or dirt or leave the house. That Sandals, Crocs or any shoes with Heels (doesn’t) give stability we need. That Crocs are fine- if we aren’t doing any projects. We can’t control our feet from sliding around in the Crocs or Sandals if we lose our balance. Shoes with Heels is a disaster waiting to happen. **I love my Crocs but they can be dangerous. I wear them daily. They said, it is so important to wear the right shoe as we age. We can still have fall with Tennie Shoes but they are somewhat more secure. Plus,They told me never go outside without Sunglasses. 😎 👍 I love your how to cope Video-as we age. God Bless y’all 🙏

God Bless You Two! 🙏🙏Thanks for uplifting us followers lucky to find you. The walker is a blessing I fought at first but love it now. Not only security from falling but less aches in bed at night as it keeps weight off your bones when moving. My dr told me an older person doesn't need as much sleep which made me not worry cause I never sleep long either. 🌼💜

I'm a little late watching this because I just had my second eye surgery, omg, talk about a process, but the way I deal with it is I tell myself it will get better it will just take a while and as long as I know that I can live with it. Things could always be worse! but this is a fantastic video. I can relate to so much of it, especially eating a little weird in the morning and not sleeping much at night. The most helpful to me was when you said, just take a break. I push myself way beyond my limit and I have to stop because it does take its toll. Like you so much depends on me because my husband is so much older than I am and he has experienced some serious falls, two of which I wasn't sure he was going to make it. But unlike Moose, he is going to do what he wants to do, period. I am trying to accept that and not stress myself out about it, but that is easier said than done. So now I'm going on to your new video. I just love listening to you!
