Clutch situation love your vids I actually put a comment on your old video called 2015 pencil collection and you are pretty much the person that made me want to do art and write and all those things and I used to be really sad about my parents being divorced and I want to say that you are the person that showed me pencils that are cool in my opinion i know that sounds kinda nerdy but you are the person that got me into doing something that I love so thank you for that

+Clutch Situation hey I mean I probably like mechanical pencils as much as you do XD lol I mean you might have 2x more than I have (which ya I have a lot but ya just about 2x less that you according to your pencil case update) but I buy mine off amazon and I think you should considering I got the rotting 800 for 35 dollars off amazon and I didn't even really know how expensive it is otherwise but hey now I know that I did get an amazing deal but ya I think if you haven't already that you should go check Amazon out

Nice top-10 mechanical pencil review. I found your video because I was searching for info about the Rotring 800. Managing to obtain the much elusive ballpoint Rotring 800, I wanted to get the companion MP. Thankfully it is still in plentiful supply out there, with a number of sources. JetPens has the best retail price, but you can get slightly better deals off "that auction site." As a desk pencil, I'd agree that the 600 is the best. Beyond that, the 800 has that superb retractable tip design, which makes it more stylish and perhaps even a conversation piece. It's great to have both. :-)

Great video, I'm a fan of the twist erase as well. You should definitely give the Staedtler 925 35 series a try you won't be disappointed, it'll give those Rotring's a run for their money. They're 20 bucks at jet pens and would make a great addition to your collection.

Did they change the design or mechanics for the rapid pro in some way? I just got one and it weighs almost identical to the 600...
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Kayeco I'll mass both of mine at school today.
@miyka8 жыл бұрын
+Clutch Situation some say the rapid pro is 24.5 grams while the 600 is 22.7 grams...I know jetpen says the pro weighs 1.9 ounces...but i think it should be 0.9 which is roughly 25g...it doesn't feel like a 50g pen though...but I don't own a scale, I could be wrong.
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Kayeco I massed it at school, and indeed the RRP is 24.2 g compared to 22 ish for the 600. So Jetpens is wrong, or is measuring package mass, not pencil mass. Even though the difference isn't that big, the weighting on the RRP still bothers me. So, even if it isn't raw weight, it is the balance that I don't like.
@miyka8 жыл бұрын
+Clutch Situation Fair enough~ I love them both. Favor RRP a bit more just because 600 hurts my bony hand. ;)
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Kayeco Oh, I'm not saying that the RRP isn't a fine pencil. It's my #3 for a host of reasons. This is the reason why I prefer the 600. :)

@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Oscar solano guzman Great question. I don't know enough about the engineering to answer you. This happens on pencils with hypodermic pipe retractable sleeves. Rotring Rapid Pro is an example. It's cleary spring loaded and I'm wondering if that is intentional to prevent lead breakage?

Hi. Not seen your video before buying some replica of Pentel 205 (didn't know about it). So I don't know about Pentel's original quality. But replica (kind of Erich Krause "Black pointer") is so shitty that I can't help it not to say. It's lousy all the way long and it's fatal for lead because the tip of the barrel is moving under pressure - I've crashed a lead in 10 minutes trying to get used to it (( It costed one buck and now I want just to throw that *** away (although originally I've bought it for a kid). ...at the same time Pentel PG 515 I have are quite good, but more good for me my cheap replica of Faber-Castell Grip 2011 wich was bought 9 years ago and use it every day with great pleasure (I've feeling it were better pencils before). Now after all these breakages I want to order 4 Delguards. Is it right choice I hope? ...because I want to present a kid also quite not cheap Pentel Color Ain Stein leads.

Delguards are good. I recommend the Delguard ER over the original model.

What would you recommed for school use? No need for the pocket safe features
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+MrPianoBearTV That's a big question. I'm a teacher, so I use all of these "at school". If you mean for a student, it depends upon what you like. Do you like the precision of a drafting pencil? Do you want it to look good? Do you want it to be functional? Do you need it to be affordable or easy to obtain? I don't feel like I can make a recommendation until you tell me a little more about what you need. Otherwise, I'm going to recommend the Rotring 600 to anyone for any purpose. ;)
@MrPianoBearTV8 жыл бұрын
+Clutch Situation I mean for a student, I really like the idea of the precision of a drafting pencil and looks don't matter to mean as long as it functions good. Availability: as long as it's available in Cult Pens and for affordability: if it will last me for long it might be worth the investment. :)

On my blog, yes (300). I have not reviewed the 500 as it doesn't seem worth the price given that I already have a 600.
@bballwatcher22248 жыл бұрын
+Clutch Situation Fair point. I think I commented this yesterday, but I much prefer using the 500 over the 600 (surprise surprise). The 500 is more bottom heavy, which I prefer more. If by value, then yes, the 600 is the winner. But the 500 is something that I don't have to worry as much about.

why would you recommend the rotring 600 vs 800?
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Verweij Almost entirely value for the money. The 600 is a solid package for half the cost of the 800. Yes, the 800 is pocket safe, which is great, but it isn't double the price pocket safe, in my eyes.
@mava10able8 жыл бұрын
+Clutch Situation o well I got the 800 for 25 euros
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Verweij I doubt that it is a genuine one if that's what you paid for it. If it is genuine, the retailer ripped themselves off selling it to you for that price.
@mava10able8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Verweij it's sold by Amazon itself it was the last unit for that price so I doubt its a fake
@ClutchSituation8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Verweij Maybe you got the deal of the century. I don't know. Amazon US shows the 800 at 52 USD or ~46.5 Euros. When Amazon is on low quantity, prices usually go up, not down. Congratulations, because an 800 at that price would be worth it. However, I think your situation is a very rare occurrence, and as such I think the 600 is a better buy. If someone could find an 800 at that price, I'd jump on it.

If this would be the 90s I would understand that, but today adding a pencil like that to a top list seems extreme at the very least because the pencil doesn't have any great features, or strong areas we could mention in comparison with most modern Drafing pencils.
