I know it was just an honorable mention, but I feel I should point out that Awakening didn't introduce either child units or casual mode, it was just their first uses in an English-released game. Child units were introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War for the Super Famicom, and casual mode was first seen in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem for the DS.

fair enough, but i think Josh isn't a big follower of Fire Emblem, i know i'm not, while i like the franchise NOW, i originally hated FE just cause it killed Shining Force and i LOVED me some Shining Force, especially SFIII.

Awakening added many series things that were in separate games together like "Overworld encounters" from Gaiden and Sacred Stones Child characters from Genealogy, however unlike Genealogy... they are far more forgiving if you go for weirder combos Casual mode in New mystery Avatars- New mystery and technically (but not like Awakening) FE7 I mean the only thing they added was Time Travel to make sense of the plot and how the Child Characters are added (instead of doing a time skip like Genealogy) Basically the devs confirmed this game was going to be the last so they wanted to go out with a bang and add in as much of the previous installments quirks into one game. It worked considering the next two games in the franchise outsold Awakening which was the highest sold FE game of the time

The Kid Icarus series held a special place in my heart because Uprising was my _first_ 3DS game. Antony Del Rio's performance as Pit is what made him a great voice actor. I hope a legitimate sequel allows him to deliver a much more emotional performance (He Can Really Act - TV Tropes).

Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha VS King Abaddon. I love the Shin Megami Tensei series to no end. It's just very fun overall. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha VS The Soulless Army is a lovely game in itself, too. However, it does have some problems that are fixed in the sequel alongside the sequel having quality-of-life changes. 1: You can actually rest at the detective agency rather than always having to travel to the Gouma-Den. I've always had a problem with that in the original, not being able to rest at your own headquarters. I'm so glad they fixed it. 2: While the game lacks the elemental ammo that I enjoyed in the original, the trade-off is that Raidou Kuzunoha's revolver now has unlimited ammo overall; even though it can only fire 6 shots before you have to reload unlike in the original. 3: While I enjoyed the combat style of holding the attack button to use a spin attack, pressing forward with an attack button for a thrust, etc, I do also enjoy how pretty much all of Raidou's sword moves are tied to his normal string, and they added in different weapons making his sword take a different form when you use a special move. For example, with any sword-type weapon, his special move is a sweet flurry of iaido swings, while axe-type weapons make his sword take the form of a glowing green GIANT axe and he'd jump into the air and slam it on the ground. It would be interesting if his weapons actually made him physically use different weapons, but the special attack thing still is very nice. Having 2 demons on the field at once rather than just one is also a great thing, and I don't have any problem with their AI aside from Dia-knowing demons always wasting MP on topping us off at the end of the battle even when we don't have that much health missing. I don't know if anyone else may, though. 4: No more random encounters in the normal world. THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT. I still love the first one even given that, but still, I'm sure no one enjoys random encounters, especially when they happen quite frequently. 5: Personally, I could take or leave the fact that he talks to demons to recruit them now like in the usual SMT series. That's the only thing that I like more in the first one; hitting them with a weakness stunning them and allowing you from there to mash Circle to capture them. However, my problem with the conversation system in SMT as a whole is that it just seems very RNG-based to me; I just don't get it. Even if you know a certain demon's personality type generally likes certain responses, they still may get angry, and it just confuses me. Can anyone help me out with that? It's really pretty much the only thing I don't get about SMT aside from the fact that the strengths and weaknesses for most demons change from one installment to the next.

it's hard to do Zelda games when in most cases... Zelda games are not Sequels but a re-telling of the Legend from generation to generation. the only TRUE sequels are LoZ/Zelda II on NES, OoT/MM on N64 and Wind Waker revealing itself to being a sequel to OoT/MM's storyline while having a sequel of it's own known as The Phantom Hourglass.

Gonna have to add one of my choices with DMC3. Took everything the first game did well and made it better. Styles, weapon switching, smoother combat while also making it way deeper and a much improved plot.

I'd have to say sly 2 was an amazing sequel. The game just runs smoother. The nice change from linear levels to miniature open world maps for each in game episode. All with their own unique designs and tons of collectibles. Even more tools gadgets and abilities for sly including the introduction of my favourite tool in the series. The paraglider. But what I would have to say is the best thing is that they made both Bentley and Murray into playable characters. Each with their own unique gameplay designs that helped set them apart from sly. Sly still being the most agile and being able to pull off athletic moves that the others couldn't manage. Like running on tight ropes or climbing pipes. Bentley in the first game was the brains of the operation. Creating plans but then leaving them to sly to carry out. But now in 2 he was out in the field and was a lot more tactical in gameplay with his use of sleep darts or bombs along with a handy jetpack that gave him a triple jump. Then there's Murray. Oh boy... did they fix Murray. In the first game Murray really felt like the team member who didn't really pull his weight like the others. Bentley was the brains of the operation coming up with all the plans. Sly was the master thief. Being the one who did all the reconasance work, the one who stole the different treasures and the one who took down all the villains. As for Murray? He was the van guy. Simply there for the getaway. The only missions involving him in the first game were either some annoyingly difficult racing minigames where the enemy drivers were almost too perfect. Or some missions were you have to use a turret to protect Murray as he runs away from some guards. But in the second game? Murray has now gotten a big confidence boost thanks to the event as at the end of the first game. He us now the muscle of the group. He may not be as sneaky as either sly or Bentley but he's way more powerful. Taking on 3 or 4 guards could be seen as pretty dangerous for either sly or Bentley. But Murray is now pretty much a walking tank able to take on huge numbers of enemies. This game pretty much took everything good about the first fame and made it great. While it took all of the bad thing and didn't just fix them but made them really great. This game just improved on everything

Yes of all the Star Wars games I played Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the PS2 more than any other Star Wars game and when I tell my friends that they're like what I want to play the one by Electronic Arts I'm like no I have been boycotting electronic Arts for years waiting patiently for a remaster of Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 from the PS2 to be ported over to the PS4 or 5

It actually removed a few features from the original: commands mapped to different buttons, going prone, vehicle repair droids, air battles that weren’t in space, probe droids calling orbital strikes (because they added indoor maps), being able to see the first two units following you. Also the bad AI isn’t really improved upon at all.

@@belmontzar Except EA's Battlefront 2 only got better after they removed the intrusive microtransactions, lootboxes and made all the heroes available instead of intensively grind for them. Which is almost a year after its release. Honestly, it belongs more to a list of bad games who are now good.

@@DrZuluGaming kinda. Battlefront 1 did away with classes and let you fully customize your loadouts... but most of the dlc is locked behind online games. Making it hard to take the time to really explore them. Battlefront 2 brought back classes but lets you play almost every map freely offline with bots. So someone with bad internet like me Battlefront two has much more to offer and a wider variety of game. I rather love all four batle front games I have played. I have classic one and two on pc and Ea's pair on ps4 and its amazing how far the game has come and how much has been great from the very start.

fun fact: In lego dimension Glados and Hal actually meet each other, and it's one of the best and funniest moments in the game XD And I agree that Glados is more dangerous than Hal, cause other than Hal, Glados has emotions, which means, she is able to do shit just cause she feels like it, not cause it's necessary or logical. The only AI that can top that, and proofs that fact even more is A.M. from I have no mouth and I must scream. Shell can be really glad that Glados only wants to kill her, propably do to her limitations. With powers like A.M. that would be a whole different story.

For me I’d say the most improved sequel is Fire Emblem Blazing Blade, or just “Fire Emblem” as we know it in the West. Binding Blade (or Roy’s game) is a good game by FE standards, but it has a pretty bare bones plot and boring protagonist, with the interesting villains barely getting any screentime to be all that fleshed out. That, and it had some small but noticeable gameplay flaws as well, such as recruiting very low-level units even in the later chapters and having very little guidance on how to unlock the Gaiden chapters. All of which are required to fight the true final boss and get the true ending. Oh, and axe units having accuracy so bad that they might as well be near-sighted. Then it’s direct follow-up, Blazing Blade, took the foundation of Binding Blade and improved on it IMMENSELY. We have three different protagonists, each with their own unique storylines and are interesting their own right, heavily expands on Elibe’s lore as well as Zephiel’s (villain of Binding Blade) backstory, and even fixes all the small gameplay flaws Binding Blade had too. And it did all this and more to become what’s imo one of the best FE games.

If I'd add an FE game into this list, it would have to be Mystery of the Emblem (FE3, for the Super Famicom.) The games on the original Famicom are so archaic, clumsy and _slow_ by today's standards that they are nearly unplayable without emulator fast-forwarding and a lot of patience. The narrative also took a leap forward, but that had seen a more gradual improvement from 1 to 2 to 3 (and would see its own massive leap when going into FE4, still regarded as the best FE story among many fans.)

Kid Icarus Uprising was one of my first 3DS games and I don't regret it one bit. The first time I heard Hades' voice during "The End" screen certainly scared me and about everything else was amazing. Although, it did damage my first 3DS in the long run as the Left trigger eventually went out.

My number 1 would be Pokemon Dimond and Pearl. Although I love Pokemon Gold, the first sequel, it didn't add much just fixed a few things. I absolutely, 150% adore Kid Icarus Uprising. Although to be honest.... I'm not too sure I would have personally included it. I mean, look at all the other entries. They're all improved sequels, they also kept the core gameplay for all of them, even Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid despite the jump from 2D to 3D being pretty radical with certain features. With OG Icarus to Uprising, it was a complete genre shift with the most similar gameplay being Hearts as currency. Now, I also wouldn't call it a spin off but it still feels in the same vain as saying World of Warcraft is an improved sequel to Warcraft 3

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. It added strafing, new guns that upgrade, a couple arenas (including a challenge that is 99 rounds long and will require an hour to complete), a female Lombax, another galaxy...should I go on?

I am surprised Mega Man 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 aren't on the list. I enjoy Gauntlet, but I likely have put at least MK2 over it since that game turned Mortal Kombat from a gimmicky fighting game that relied on gore to a legitimately respected fighting game series.
