Great movie list. I've got most of yours on my top 10-20 list with Predator, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard, Big Trouble Little China, Big Lebowski, Jurassic Park. Finally someone who respects the cinematic masterpiece that is Conan the Barbarian! Automatic subscribe!

The Big Lebowski is the only comedy in my top 10. Every time it’s on TV I end up watching the whole thing.

This is an excellent list. Ladyhawke would be a perfect movie, but the 80's had a bad habit of using synth soundtracks for flicks that shouldn't have a synth soundtrack.

Love the fact your Top Ten is always more - as 10 is way too few! Great list (generally). Last of the Mohicans - Her eyes in the promontory scene... Ladyhawke - Seriously underrated movie. May seem a bit "clunky" in terms of production values, compared to more recent movies, but storyline and the locations (not CGI) are great. Braveheart - So long as you ignore the pretensions of "reality" and consider it a fictional movie with some real historical names thrown in then it works. Just please do not consider it a "historical" movie in any way! (BTW, I'm Scottish) Star Wars - Saw it in the movie theatre with my brother, sister and cousins when it first came out. Shouldn't watch it any other way as you cannot get the enormity of the scope otherwise... Not a great Ferris fan myself... thought you might have gone for Caddyshack.

I'm a woman and I would add The Terminator and Aliens to that list. Fun, edge of your seat films. Terminator being a love story and Aliens showing humanity, fear, and uncertainty even though they were badass marines. Sorry for the swearing. lol.

Dear Mr. Durfee, This is my first comment I have ever made on KZbin. I thoroughly enjoy your book reviews, and through your recommendations I have been introduced to many new authors and books. I really enjoy your top ten lists of books and movies. I was wondering, I would love to see a top ten of true crime books of your recommendations. I am sure I am not the only fan of yours that would LOVE to see that video!! Thank you for all you do.... Debby Kroupa

Great list! I have some of those in my top favorites too. But my all time favorite is James Cameron's Avatar. I also have Sling Blade, The English Patient, and Legends of the Fall in my list. Also, most James Horner soundtrack/scores are dope as hell!!! I have a few in my collection.

My favorite movies are the most rewatchable ones. I agree with your list. I would add the Back To The Future series. The matrix 1. Big Lebowski. And a guilty pleasure of mine is Pineapple Express. Just because I’m fond of the bromance and the silly screenplay. 100% agree on Ferris Buellers day off… total masterpiece. Same with Pulp Fiction and Shawshank for very different reasons. You have a great taste in movies! I highly recommend Under The Silver Lake. It is captivating and I can’t put my finger on it, but from start to finish it has hidden symbolism and Andrew Garfield kills it. It’s part taxi driver part eyes wide shut. Another one you might like, is Brawl on Cell block 99. Amazingly violent and a great character piece. Vince Vaughn betrays a Russian mob to save a bunch of cops and it’s completely out of left field. Gives a sense of virtue to the main character. Then they go after his pregnant wife and blackmail him from within prison to assassinate someone. But he’s required to act out and get sent to where the psychos are and essentially ruins his own life to save his family. The fights are the best I’ve ever seen in any movie. Think Michael Meyers in prison. The guy is just the human equivalent of the Terminator. Lol

Our taste is SO SIMILAR even though I'm female. I agree with everything!! That has never happened to me before. And to anyone else watching: listen to Brian here, if a guy who wants to date you doesn't like Gladiator, do not date him. Just don't. By the way, if you want a recommendation for a really great new-ish movie that definitely fits into your list: watch "Hostiles" (Western with Christian Bale)! It's really awesome! Or if you want something lighter: The Adjustment Bureau. Mad Max: Fury Road is also very impressive and new. So you see, they still do make great movies! I also loved The Big Short, Spotlight and The Young Victoria. But you totally forgot to include: Master & Commander with Russell Crowe, and The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise. How could you?? Now you have to re-do the video with them added.

Hi, Brian. I have a recommendation for you that I think you will absolutely love. It was originally a book before being made into a movie. It's very very underrated. It's called "The Boys From Brazil". Don't search up the synopsis for it contains spoilers. It is a mystery about Nazi war criminals after WW2 and it contains sci-fi elements. It's written by Ira Levin (author of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Stepford Wives".

Our taste are very similar, so I was very surprised you didn't have any of the great mob movies on your list.

@99Michaelthom3 жыл бұрын
Our top 17 movies is similar. Only differences are mine has a couple more Tarantino up in there sans Ferris Bueller and LadyHawke and replaced with Hateful Eight and Django Unchained. Unforgiven is above Braveheart. Star Wars Empire would be #1. Dances With Wolves definitely up there in the top 5. Though it's a great movie, Shawshank maybe replaced with Stand By Me. Last of the Mohicans replaced with Reservoir Dogs and Lawrence of Arabia replaced with Kubrick's The Shining. Would have to add Interview with the Vampire and Predator in there somewhere.

You list suffers from a severe recency bias. Do yourself a favor nd watch some older movies. Start in the 1940’s.
