Maybe we can do something unscripted on Judgment Meter's channel at some point for my full ramble on FLCL Progressive and Alternative. I was expecting to have time for a full breakdown of Alternative, but I wasn't expecting Progressive to take as long as it did. I really like when Alternative gave Haruko a break sometimes and was simply a slice of life anime. I also realized I left out that the main conflict between the protagonist and her friend annoyed me because it was never resolved. If they got to resolve it, I think I would feel less soured with the ending. I feel for the writers of those seasons since I see the sparks of the original that are hard to emulate when they were likely watching the original as viewers rather than being a part of the crew. Jinyu was probably my favorite character from all of the FLCL sequels and I've practically made it my mission through my Gravity Falls/FLCL crossover series to explore her more. I even gave her and Haruko a sisterly relationship comparable to Grunkle Stan and Ford or Eda and Lilith Clawthorne from The Owl House. As for my honest thoughts of Grunge and Shoegaze, I think I preferred Shoegaze between the two for how it followed up on elements of Alternative like how Kana has been doing. Grunge, on the other hand, while there were certainly parts I liked such as the Rashomon style and the characterization of the main trio, I would've preferred more episodes to justify itself as a prequel to FLCL Classic and to help audiences get more used to the switch to CGI.

at 32:50 we see the side characters of futurama. I will say that the moon is my favorite. I like the joke where his eye gets impaled because there was the black and white trip to the moon movie where they land on the eye of the moon.

I honestly gravitated towards FLCL Progressive more than the original. It pretty much builds on the themes of the original in a more digestible way. Although the ending isn't as good as the original series, I still enjoyed it

I had the exact same feelings for FLCL Alternative! Kana didn't deserve half the crap she got...and she was pretty relatable to me at the time. Still is a bit. As for FLCL in general, my favorite one was Shoegaze. It took place 10 years after Alternative and had no physical appearances, cameos included, of Haruko. Which was really interesting. As for revivals in general- can Toonami itself count? At least its Total Immersion Events? Love how much darker the Adult Swim got to be.

Kana was definitely the type of person I was at her age and I still like how she is a friend who just wants to be a true friend. I think the conflict between her and Pets could've been saved if it did get to resolve. The fact that it was the last thing she said to Kana really soured the who season to me. And that's interesting to hear that there's no Haruko. It's hard to imagine FLCL without her, but that's ultimately what I wanted from Alternative. I would've been fine if it was just a series in the same universe. Really makes me think if they wanted to continue FLCL from the start, they should've just made it an anthology series where each season had new characters and it just fit the vibes of the original, like the non-Haruko parts of Alternative, and how Shoegaze sounds. I'll check out the newest seasons on a rainy day at some point since 3 episodes in each sounds like a quick watch.

The 2023 FLCL ones never aired on Adult Swim/Toonami unfortunately so I haven't seen them yet either but I do believe they got a dub I could be wrong though

As a big Futurama fan the Hulu season....is very dated. Felt like the writing staff was kind of forced to make what the heads of Hulu thought would be the best to gain an audience. I felt like there was more misses than hits for its return. Though it apparently will have a new season later and from looks from the ad they're back to more character driven writing, which is Futurama's strong point.

That's unfortunate to hear. I was hoping it'd be good to eventually watch. It's interesting since original Futurama had plenty of jokes that were 90s/2000s themed, but they ultimately are pretty timeless, so I'm assuming it's the character driven writing that's holding it back. Hope it looks better for the next season! Billy West has been posting updates and I'm always rooting for it to do well since the cast seems to be having a great time all these years later.

Usually there's a word or series of words that activates the KZbin auto-delete, but I've never been able to figure it out when it's not something clearly bad, so maybe change the comment a little.
