I first thought "gas station attendant? Who has those anymore?" Then I remembered reading that by state law New Jersey requires an attendant to pump gas - no self service allowed. I believe Oregon has a similar state law.

Imagine saying some of these things on TV now. There would be boycotts all over social media and they would be canceled in a second. It's horrible that comedy has come to this point

If you compare this with the "Late Night" content, you can really see how the humor in the "Late Show" years was maybe 75% sexual jokes. It's sad how sexualized our society has gotten. I have trouble pinpointing when the primary shift happened. Maybe sometime in the early 90s or mid 90s.
