I would personally nominate Totem Wishiwashi. Since you don't have a Z-Move good against Water types, it's pretty tough. Plus it's raining, and Alolamola can be it ally (showcasing some support moves). On top of that, it's a great introduction to the concept of Wishiwashi and it's gimmick.

For me, Totem Wishiwashi was easily the hardest boss in the whole game. I only beat it because it used Soak on my Trumbeak, causing its own attacks to do less damage.

The second phase of Perfect Chaos is supposed to imply that if Chaos wasn't pissed before, he definitely is now, and the music being more foreboding and intimidating is supposed to reflect that. But you probably should have used the Dreamcast version of Adventure, Perfect Chaos looks much better in that than in DX

Thanks to the Dreamcast Conversion mod for the Steam version, it really helps. But I do agree with Josh, hearing Open Your Heart really pumps you up to fight hence a music swap you can toggle with the mod loader to swap the order of the music and trust me, it really helps a lot.

I think I'd have put Totem Araquanid on from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. That thing is terrifying, it's a good subversion since it scares away the Wishiwashi and also the boss fight is legit difficult. Rain + Water Bubble + STAB Water moves + Dewpider supports which can do the same thing and lower your Speed. I really need to use an Araquanid at some point...

Water levels at best could be really fun like aquarium park or the squid level from dkctf, at worst are boring slogs like gloomy galleon or Atlantica. ki master Some ice levels can be pretty unfun, I’ll admit, but they tend to be generally better than water levels in games, at least imo. Some examples of good ones that come to mind for me are Freezeezy Peak (Banjo-Kaoozie), Cool, Cool Mountain (Super Mario 64), Crystal Glacier (Spyro 2), Icecap Zone (Sonic 3), Slip-Slide Ride (DKC) and Temple of Droplets (Zelda Minish Cap.)

Fun fact about Poseidon having storms and earthquakes in his portfolio, during the Mycenaean age of Ancient Greek history, this was actually enough for Poseidon to be considered the head of the pantheon, his earthshaker epithet making him a lot more important to the Greeks who at the time had built their civilization around active fault lines. After the bronze age collapse the new centers of power shifted to the more mountainous areas and so the sky god Zeus came to the for after having previously been characterized as the unimportant brother who literally drew the short straw when it came time to decide who'd rule what and got the boring unimportant skies and could play with the spare lightning bolts Poseidon had left over from being the god of storms as well.

Hecking glad Vah Ruta is on here Not only do I love water levels and elephants, but the music really makes the boss fight. It's grand and epic to show how important it is to free the Divine Beast but it also has a hint of sorrow in its melody as if poor Vah Ruta (along with Mipha's spirit) is suffering inside from the Malice and it has no choice but to fight you. Getting to work alongside on of the best characters of the game doesn't hurt too ;)

For me, one bus that I really think should be on the list is Killer Croc from Batman Arkham Asylum. He almost gives Scarecrow a run for his money in the fear factor department because how tense when he there but you are waitng for him. For that matter, Croc is one of the few characters in the series to have consistently good bosses. Arkham Origins he worked as a fun first boss that made you feel awesome for taking down something that large and Arkham Knight was similarly fun because of the flashing dual team takedowns Batman and Nightwing use on him. Also Arkham Knight makes him kinda sympathetic seeing as he is one of the few villains not in on Scarecrow's plan. He just wants revenge on a corrupt warden who experimented on him and his airship prison crashed near Gotham by happen stance. Also Natie from The Amazing Spider-Man video game. Natie is unique in that they are an original villain in the game not based on a comics villain. It is a Piranha-Human hybrid which in its natural element, hits like a bulldozer and on land delivers lighting fast slash attacks. The fight also an interesting mechanic as you have to frequently lower the sewage level to keep Natie from using its ram attack. Also there is the Imprisoned Juvenile Sloar from Ghostbusters: The Video Game the pen-ultimate boss and a fun one at that. It is also a nice nod to the film as the Sloar is one of the destructor forms that Gozer used previously.

I actually think that, if it had been done slightly better, the Waterwraith from Pikmin 2 would have been seen as a great water boss. The main problem with it is that when it tries to approach you on separate floors, its way too easy for it to obliterate your team. Maybe if they had altered the mechanic where you had access to Purple Pikmin before the last floor, you could have maybe used them to scare it off and protect the blue pikmin more reliably on the upper floors. I do like the mechanic of having to make it into more of a solid entity through sheer force rather than just ice, it just could have been handled better in the game.

It's not that Nessa "evolved" from Dynamax to Gigantamax... in Origins, it's suggested that Gym Leaders choose lesser Pokémon to match their challengers' experience. As Milo and Nessa are the two Gym Leaders you face and the game assumes you're still learning the ropes of the new Dynamax mechanic at that point, they stick to regular Dynamax and spare you from Gigantamax until you face Kabu.

Something to also mention about GoW3’s Poseidon is that he looks like a hydra, a dragon usually associated with water, (and was also the first boss fight in the first GoW game which I think is very good) and his spider/crab legs and crown, adding onto more of his water theme. Honestly a really good first boss and really sets the bar for the rest of the game!

While he is an optional boss, Duke Fishron from Terraria is arguably one of the best bosses in the game. To put in some context, it's a giant pig/shark/dragon abomination that you fish out of the ocean that launches projectiles which create freaking SHARKNADOES, while charging at you and blowing bubbles sometimes. It is really fast paced for a water themed boss, and that's what I like about it and Terraria in general.

This may be a newer boss by all standpoints but what about the the Executioner from Code Vein? Her intro; mesmerising, her skill set; terrifying, her attack range; just like her side job, sees her swinging all around the place and makes you question how she does that and why can't you do it. Insult to injury that she likes to slow you down so that she can perform better and you have yourself a boss with incredible ability to stand up for herself, even if her legs are now permanent stilettos.

Perfect Chaos taking away the main theme in the last 3 hits represented to me Chaos taking control of the situation and making everything feel more intense and dire. It always struck me like that too. Open Your Heart is like Sonic saying he can do it, but at a midway point that falls under a bit of doubt, so I think the change in music works way better than if it had remained Open Your Heart for the whole battle.

The ascended version of the Great Waterwyrm may seem weak when the initial blast hits weaker than her fellow brethren, but she makes it clear immediately that she doesn't fool around. Whirlpools that can juggle you helplessly, fullscreen tidal waves, water prisons, homing bubble bombs AND frag grenade bubbles all within the first two minutes. She may give you bubbles to survive her onslaught but it's just her messing with you as she summons rats to try and pop the bubbles in order to sow further panic amongst the party. Keep in mind this is also a game that features a body-building water behemoth, a woodland resident turned cold-hearted justice-seeking sniper (that turns into an ice cold, despair-ridden phoenix), and a half-octopus half-human sea pirate that puts Ursula's big size to shame amongst its repertoire of Water Bosses.
