Crazy! I just watched this video today, and i am rereading WoT for my 2nd full read through of the seties! Then i came across this passage in chapter 13 of Fires of Heaven: "She could smell the lions herself, but it was at three huge, wrinkled gray animals that the horses gazed, wild-eyed. Two were as tall as the coach, with big ears and great curving tusks beside a long nose that dangled to the ground. The third, shorter than the horses if likely as heavy, had no tusks." Apparently there are still elephants!!!!!

While I LOVE the WoT series immensely, it saddens me that RJ passed away too early. At a book signing (in Nashville, TN), he mentioned plans for his next series of books that had a completely different magic system/world system. What a loss that we will never know what could have been something as least as good as WoT or possibly even better!

We change history ourselves because we lose perspective. Most people today would tell you that Julius Caesar was the head of the Roman Empire and would picture him riding into a white marble city on a chariot past the Coliseum. While Julius was indeed dictator, the white marble city of Rome that we think of wasn’t created until Augustus’s decades later. The colosseum wasn’t built until a couple centuries later. So it’s very easy to see how Elizabeth would be a very famous queen who’s name would survive thousands of years but would be associated with the larger British Empire ruled by Victoria.

It should be made clear that The Wheel Of Time is an in-universe cosmology. While there is fairly strong evidence that it takes place in our future, there is no known evidence that it takes place in our past. The only two 'persons' who are in a position to know the truth don't tell anyone. In universe, however, there is evidence (primarily from Birgitte) that time doesn't loop back as such, but that similar themes recur.

@haku81354 жыл бұрын
Brontosaurus would surely be WAY too big to be inside that building. The first age was probably plenty long enough ago Giraffes and Elephants could have been fossilized, or they could just be well preserved bones, obviously. Nobody said they were fossils, just bones. We find bones of people all the time, that obviously aren't fossilized. The elephant and giraffe make the most sense taking into account time and size, and the fact Elephants and probably Giraffes are still around, just not in that area. Which considering the world was literally broken, makes sense their bones could still be around even though the actual animals haven't been there in millennia.
@PotzerTheMan4 жыл бұрын
>< We have no reference on the size of the building. The stone is massive.
@haku81354 жыл бұрын
@@PotzerTheMan "...and opposite it on the other side were the bones of some slender four-footed beast with a neck so long the skull was half as high as the ceiling" Brontosaurus is absolutely NOT slender, and there's NO FREAKING WAY the palace is so enormous a BRONTOSAURUS can only get HALFWAY to the ceiling. The average Giraffe is around 15 or so feet tall, making the palace ceiling around 30 feet tall, 40 if we're going with the tallest Giraffe ever measured, and that's pushing it. It could even be smaller than that by a good few feet as Egwene is not exactly busting out a ruler, she's just eyeballing it. Brontosaurus, JUST its neck, is THIRTY FEET. That makes the ceiling a whopping SIXTY feet high. And we're told the ENTIRE creature is there, so that's SEVENTY FEET of animal that Egwene just kinda goes "wow" at. Like it's not THAT impressive. She'd be pissing herself at just the thought a creature could be THAT huge. In addition, it's made quite clear the head is going UP. Brontosaurus' head was nearer the ground. The Giraffe's head goes right up though. Lastly, it's stated very clearly that Egwene knows the Benz logo is OLDER than the bones, all of them. We also know that Elephants at least exist STILL in Seanchan and possibly in Shara too. So their bones would only need to be as old as the age of legends, where the mercedes benz logo has to be considerably older. Side note, alright Elephants and Giraffes surviving FOUR AGES. All the evidence points clearly to it being a Giraffe.

When I was a teenager, I read all the sci-fi I could get my hands on, so naturally I read a fair number of Heinlein's books. I read Heinlein's "To Sail Beyond The Sunset" in the 80s, and that was a peek into the author's psyche, to say the least. I was never as big a fan of Heinlein as I was of Isaac Asimov, and books like this were a big part of that. I did enjoy "I Will Fear No Evil" though. It was a trippy concept, anyway. On the other hand, I absolutely did read every Asimov book that my mom had or that I could borrow from the library, including his non-fiction. Asimov was my absolute favorite author growing up. Side note: Say what you will about the rest of his writing, but Heinlein was great at coming up with titles for his books. "Stranger In A Strange Land", "The Door Into Summer", "Methuselah's Children", "Orphans Of The Sky", they were all great titles. Not sure if I would enjoy any of those if I reread them today though.

Just stumbled across this vid. Late to the party, I know, but what the heck… Long time Wheel reader (been reading since only 3 books published). I have an Easter Egg for you that few will recognize. In Eye of the World, Chapter 32, Four Kings In Shadow. While at the Dancing Cartman Inn… Rand and Mat are ‘captured’ by the innkeeper. Two bouncers help the process. They are named Jak and Strom. There is little description of them, but I am almost willing to bet money they these two characters are a shoutout to author Kenneth Bulmer, writing as Alan Bert Akers in the Dray Prescott saga. Jak is a common name on the world of Kregen, and one which the main protagonist (Prescott) assumes numerous times. Strom is a noble title roughly equivalent to a Count in the Island Kingdom of Vallia - Prescott’s major base of operations for much of the stories. Anyone having read the Prescott books will recognize either of these names, but having to two paired together so closely all but shouts an intent on Jordan’s part. Have fun, and good luck.

Maybe this does not classify as an easter egg since it is very blatant. The books do reference many biblical references. The battle with Aginor, I believe it was him, or the forsken in the sky refers to Christ being crucified. Then the wound in Rand's side is the wound Jesus suffered from the spear by a roman soldier. We also have the crown of swords refers to the thorn crown placed on Jesus's head. Dragon reborn refers to the second coming. The prophecy of the dragon being reborn on the mountain links to the story of Christ's resurrection. We also have the final battle Tarmon Gai'don (Armageddon). Now for links to Arthurian legends of course many references are presented. We have his name Arthur Pendragon obvious reference to the Dragon. Callandor being in the Stone of Tear and only he can wield it (excalibur). We also have Arthur's final battle with Mordred at Camlann (Moridin Camelyn), and Arthur's final resting place at Avalon (Tar Valon). Wow this is getting long, sorry everyone. There are more of course.

For example, it appears that a glo bulb doesn’t require electricity to use, etc. I’ll make an Age or Legends video at some point

Consider the name of Tom Merrilin. How close is it to the name Merlin? As in Merlin king Arthur and the knights of the round table. And Tom even postulated that he could be changed in the stories where "Rand Althor would be lucky to be remembered at all". That he would be slayer of Trollics and wielder of the one power.
@Merlin19083 жыл бұрын
That is far from the only naming reference to Arthurian legend in the Wheel. Galad = Galahad, Gawyn = Gawain, Egwene al'Vere = Guinevere, Tar Valon = Avalon, among many others. One of my favorites: Nynaeve, married to Lan and hence Lady of the Lakes, fits right in with the many variations of the name of the Lady of the Lake. And that is ignoring the non-Arthurian references (Mah'alleinir = Mjölnir): The point is that as time is cyclical here and the First Age is implied to be our time, the things occurring in the Third Age, distorted by the passing of ages, become our legends.

Eye of the World, page 357: “A mountain hallowed into a bowl and in its center a silver pike a hundred spans high.. and anyone who comes within a mile of it dies.” This is an unexploded, half-buried ICBM with ionizing radiation leaking from the warhead.
@derekwhittom16396 жыл бұрын
That seems unlikely. An obviously deadly object wouldn't just be left around by a world-spanning civilization, especially one that would clearly have had the power to clean it up.
@everquestfootpad69756 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing the fallout from the end of the first age was all cleaned up during the age of legends, but they missed this one warhead.

I always thought of that one as some sort of large satellite dish
@everquestfootpad69756 жыл бұрын
But why would a satellite dish kill you if you approached it? It’s got to be a missile leaking something noxious.
@abj1366 жыл бұрын
@@everquestfootpad6975 A missile would not have anywhere near that level of toxicity. Chernobyl is closer to that.

I love you channel and that you go into detail about all the lore. That said i have noticed a few editing mistakes, partially in the forsaken ranked video. I don't mean to discourage you or put you down and as someone who has done a bit of video editing myself i know that it is easy to miss things. So, take a bit more time to check you video for mistakes before you post you'll catch these mistakes. keep up the good work

How about the fact that Arthur Hawkwing's armies sailed across the ocean and came back with & as dark skinned people.
@LordFatamayus5 жыл бұрын
Not trying to sound sarcastic but if you read carefully it states several times through the books; that they have different skin tones some are dark complected, and some are light complected. Ultimately though it's from Hawkings armies conquering the Seanchan locals when they landed there and then breeding with them through the generations
