I absolutely LOVE how Kojima got back at Konami attempting to take his name off the box art of MGS5, by leaving his name literally all over the game itself. Every single mission in the game starts with credits, saying it was made by Hideo Kojima. Priceless!!
@shawnfields2757
@shawnfields2757 5 жыл бұрын
Officer Trigger Happy And don't forget that Kojima himself is a character in the game, doing his own voice for himself, and is a welcome addition to your team. I love how every episode of MGS5: Phantom Pain says it's directed by Hideo Kojima as well dude. It's the perfect payback. And makes it seem like every part of the Phantom Pain is it's own episode, directed by Kojima himself. I just wish the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 were real, so they could steal konami's tiny, withered, evil heart, and maybe, like Capcom, they could STOP making Nazi like decisions, and stop treating their employees like dogshit. I don't know how to end this, so Fuck Konami.

In my book at least Konami blacklisting employees is worse than EA underpaying employees. With EA there’s at least hope that you can leave and get a job elsewhere. With Konami that hope is gone as you’ll have to go to an entirely different industry to have any hope. And punishing employees with certain jobs sounds like it could count as a labor law violation in some part of the world. And the blacklisting sounds like it’s definitely illegal somewhere.

Not like went off the grid,i'm talking milk carton legally missing. Former employees have made coded tweets asking about his whereabouts. 10: Let us not forget that Lords of Shadow was originally an entirely new IP, then somebody slapped the Castlevania name onto it. That is why feels so little like Castlevania, especially in the original game. 9: To be fair, this wasn't something exclusive to Konami. Nintendo, Capcom, and Squaresoft also had their share of BS difficulty moments. 8: With how botched this remake is, I feel it one should instead say a bad re release is "going Silent Hill HD." 7: Biggest sign somebody is a scum bag is when they try to use youtube's copyright system to silence their critics. In fact most if not everything Konami does in response to criticism or just people reacting to its evil just makes them look worse. 6: Just when I thought my view of that piece of garbage couldn't get any lower. 5: Fuck Konami! I could say that with all of these but I don't have anymore words for it. 4: I say they were greedy and spiteful. And evil. 3: Did I mention Konami was evil? I did? Well I can't mention it enough times. Also love how you used that footage of Kingpin. 2: In addition to being evil, Konami is also stupid. They are the like Joffrey Baratheon, a vicious idiot who violently lashes out everything around them. In this case I feel it's no doubt because their spite towards Kojima. 1: I had heard about this and it's the big one why I kept saying Konami is evil. They abuse their employees, treating all of them like dirt, and if they try to quit, Konami black lists them. If EA is Dick Jones from Robocop, and evil businessman concerned only about making money, then Konami is, what I and Firey Joker have described it as, an evil abusive boss that insists on making life as miserable as possible for everyone they employee.

dragonstormx I left a comment like this on the video itself, but Konami’s fails depress me while EA’s give me hope. Sure, EA is terrible, but they’re so bad that their practices are impossible to sustain. I feel like each new EA fail puts them one step closer to the grave, and that makes me happy. I don’t get that from Konami, and the later fails on this list are probably the reason for that. Sure, the Big Brother stuff makes them look downright satanic, but it also shuts down a lot of the more serious backlash that should be hurting them. After all, how do you attack Konami when they have enough clout to ruin your life once you leave? Seriously, on top of all the Big Brother comparisons, add in Chancellor Neighsay for all the power they hold with people they REALLY shouldn’t in order to pull that crap off. Next you’re gonna tell me the president of Konami runs Japan. Add to that a lesser version of this evil backlash shutdown with the KZbin copyright abuse, and the fact that the dumb pachinko apps are SOMEHOW making money, and it feels like all their bases are covered to keep being monsters. EA is at least on a suicidal path, but Konami commits far worse sins to ensure they stay alive. And someone needs to put a stake in their heart.

There were so many things Konami could do if they were smart: A Castlevania game for the 3DS that takes place in 1999 and lets you play the role of Julius Belmont in the final fight against Dracula. Prelude of Sorrow can be a perfect name. Resurrecting Contra from the dead and turning it into a good FPS, kinda like how Nintendo did with Metroid Prime. They could even challenge Halo if it was good enough! Resurrecting Suikoden following the wake of the resurgence in JRPGs we have in the last few years. Giving Hudson some freedom to work their IPs. Why can't all major publishers treat their studios like Square Enix and Bethesda, flaws and all, treat theirs? Combine both of the above aspects and give the west a brand new I.P. to love with remasters of Hudson's never localized JRPG franchise, Tengai Makyou/Far East of Eden.

@@Dracomut EA & Activision are the primary examples. Bethesda isn't doing great right now with that pathetic attempt at a multiplayer title. Valve is committed to doing as little as it possible can when it comes to Steam games. Gearbox released Aliens: Colonial Marines. Studio Wildcard is in hot water right now for attempting to sell an Ark clone as a full release while I never forgave them for selling DLC for an unfinished product. Nintendo only just realized that its policy for dealing with content creators was terrible. Then you have the shit that the bad actors of the indie developers attempt to get away with. I was more speaking about the trends of video games in a general sense. I grew up on Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Paper Mario. Everything those older games do great, newer games seem to view as set dressing to the micro-transaction storefront. I know not everyone shares my views on micro-transactions, season passes, and the like. I find them repugnant and they really do have a negative impact upon my experience with a game. Seeing them in good games like Shadow of War or Destiny 2 is all the more disappointing. (Especially if they already took $60 bucks from me upfront).
@Dracomut
@Dracomut 5 жыл бұрын
@@bjh2o Other than EA, Activision, and Bethesda though those examples are all either really old news and/or the companies have been improving/redeeming themselves in multiple ways within the last couple years. And again even taking your examples into account, these are still just a few amongst the various good companies in gaming and ignores the improvements we have seen. It really seems you are emphasizing the negative sea in an ocean of quality. I grew up with those games as well and I can assure you are plenty of games like them that have been coming out done both by AAA and indie creators that are free of micro-transactions (I can also assure you that shady business practices are nothing new ing games and back then there were companies trying milk their games and pinch every penny out of their customers). People talk about micro-transactions being everywhere when in reality not a lot of games have really been using the model and most of the ones that have have been the infamous mobile games or just the really notable examples. There is nothing wrong with things like seasons passes when done correctly, which they have been in games like Smash Bros, Soulcalibur 6, etc. Even then, allowing these things in the first place is not just the companies fault, but the fans for becoming complacent and blind. Did you buy those two games are launch or pre-order them? Thats on you. Don't give into hype and actually think about what games you should get and whether they are from a trustworthy source. I have only preordered 4 games in the last 10 years, all of which were games I truly knew would be good and were from companies I trusted. Plus I should add Shadow of Mordor's "micro-transactions" were extremely light, were not required, and given the game's reception it did not hurt the game much at all.

@@Dracomut I don't care about what other people think about micro-transactions, pre-orders, and season passes. I know how such things affect me and my experiences. If you think they are fine and game companies deserve the benefit of the doubt that's your prerogative. I gave you my opinion: there is no reason to pre-order a game, season passes are a joke, micro-transactions (even the cosmetic ones) don't belong in anything other than free-to-play titles, and video game companies do not deserve to be trusted with anything more than a tuna fish sandwich. It's fine if you disagree, but we don't really have much to discuss. (I have never pre-ordered a game. Silent Hill Collection is even worse than you said, they lost the source code to at least 2, so at least Silent Hill 2 on the HD collection is from an older, less complete build. They also re-did the Voice Acting with alot of the people you typically here nowadays (Liam O'Brian for one.), even though as awkward as some of the Voice Acting in 2 was, the Awkwardness actually worked to the game's benefit. James awkward dialogue suited the character perfectly pretty much, so hearing a new guy not being as awkward actually took away from the character. No idea about the other games on the collection, but I imagine at least the VA part to be similar. .......I miss Suikoden.

See, with the #1 on EA, I was actually given hope by the sweatshop conditions, because I saw a company that was driving itself into the ground with that policy. EA may be terrible, but a cursory glance at their backwards policies and all the crap that comes from them continue to show how running a company that way should be impossible to sustain, that all that crap will soon pile up and they’ll fold from their own faults. I don’t get that from Konami. Konami is a far greater beast, seeking only destruction, but somehow I don’t get the impression they’re sticking themselves with a knife by each f$&& up like EA has. Before the HD Collection was released, Konami intended on replacing Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland's voice actor Guy Cichi with Troy Baker to avoid paying Guy royalties, even though Guy not only voiced James, he also did motion capture for the character. However, Konami resolved the dispute peacefully (I don't recall how), but trying to undermine the original actor of the main protagonist is a huge fail to me.

Konami doesn't understand the difference. 8: Capcom showed how to make a good remaster with Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. Capcom. Let that sink in. 7: Oh Konami, you can't handle the truth can you? 6: I treat that game as Venom Snake having a food poisoning nightmare. Also paying for a save slot? Even EA is not that bad. 5: My favorite scene from Power Ranger season 2 was when the Pachinko monster was destroyed. I want to see that happen to Konami's machines. 4: If it weren't for Kojima, Konami would still be stuck in the Stone Age. I hope Death Stranding is so successful, that it puts Konami out of business, and their IPs are given to people who actually give a damn. 3: This should be illegal. If I were hiring, and I found out the person was a former Konami Employee, I'd hire them. If Konami said anything about it, I'd tell them that they have no power over here. 2: It's a Fucking demo Konami, are you just jealous that it's better than any reboot you ever made? 1: There needs to be a criminal investigation for this company. There needs to be arrests made. This company needs to go bankrupt. I know people might not think that way, but from what I could gather, there is no salvaging this company. And if their IPs are sold off, then we all know who exactly will be getting their child back.

You know, it's a shame. These companies, EA and Konami both, used to be prime video game makers. Used to be that people would kill for the chance to play the new game they made. Used to be they were awesome. But now they've been constricted with greed and corruption. However it's two different types of Greed. With EA their greed is Money. Purely Money. Microtransactions, Shoddy Buisness Practices and the like (Don't even get me started on Star Wars.) it's purely clear they care about the green stuff and shareholders then the fans of the games they supposedly put time and effort in. At least they are predictable. Konami however has another type of Greed. They don't want just money, they want Workers. They have this grand delusion they are on top and others should be worshiping their products. They are obsessive like a 5 year old is to his favorite toy. They want. They need. They take take take. It wasn't just Kojima. This was brewing under the surface for a while. Censorship, blacklisting and Concentration Camp levels of control are only a few sins they commited. Who knows what else they've done? Losing PT was bad I agree. But Blacklisting and Treating their own Employees like shit makes me sick. Labor Laws are gonna have a field day with them. I think that's why Kojima left. He saw what Konami was or was turning into and wanted to jump ship. We should be thanking Kojima for bringing most of this stuff Konami did to light. It's only a matter of time until both EA and Konami are grinded under the heels of the public for good. But the biggest pain is that these companies used to be awesome with games people would kill to play. Games we still talk about and love today. Games we will never forget. And will continue to play for years to come. EA is bad. That's a no brainer. But Konami is worst. With EA they at best deserve a complete wake up call to reality. But with Konami? I, along with may, can agree they deserve nothing short of a complete company shutdown. F&#% Konami. And god bless JoshScorcher for being a voice of reason within the chaos.

Honestly, I don't want my memory of the old Konami to just go poof. So I would like to just think that somewhere along the line, a demon possessed Konami and then it turned into a perversion of itself and video game companies. The old passionate Konami is dead, and now a dreadful spirit is controlling its dead body like a puppet for his own will. This isn't like the story of SNK rising back from the grave after bankruptcy. This is a whole 'nother level of beast. A company shutdown would be less of a punishment but more like a mercy kill towards the old Konami that we all respected.

I think a good public beating for Konamis higher ups and shareholders should set them straight. They need to learn what actual morality is, and that society wont take that shit. However, since a good beating is technically doing the public no favors, I suggest an alternate punishment, one where the shareholders (who I do not consider human beings) and the CEO's (who I usually do, even with EA, but not for Konami) should be thrown out the door, forced into government sanctioned poverty, barely making enough to eat fucking bread and crumbs, and to live in public shame until they wither and rot in their old age. Perhaps that would be a good punishment.

When Kingdom Hearts 1.5 was being made for PS3, square had lost the original source code for KH1 and managed to create a version of the game that wasn't riddled with bugs and out of place textures. But then again there may have been other factors that contributed to the state of the silent hill hd collection, regardless the collection was still trash.
@MrMarinus18
@MrMarinus18 5 жыл бұрын
@@AnimatorDemon I think the problem with the Silent Hill HD collection was that they were doing things by the book. They were simply said to improve it graphically and that is exactly what they did. The problem is that several graphics in Silent Hill go against the conventional wisdom of graphic design so upgrading it by-the-book only resulted in losing a lot of things that made it so powerful. They needed direction to make clear what to clear and what to blur. I think the reason this happened was because Silent Hill was a very haphazard creation. It was made by a group that was somewhat cast aside by the company because of incompetence or bad attitude. They didn't really make a clear rulebook so people didn't really know how to recreate it. Silent Hill isn't the only highly acclaimed game with a haphazard creation, another is Goldeneye 007. Also Pokémon was created very chaotically with many pauses due to financial issues and serious bugs. Unlike Goldeneye though which was a one-shot the haphazard creation of Pokémon caused major headaches because of the need for tie-in software like Stadium and sequels. I know of Perfect Dark but it is more a spiritual successor rather than a true sequel.

Konami about P.T.: "oh, we for whatever reason had to cancel a project despite how absurdly well-received and hyped it was in ways many marketing campaigns can only dream? It happens, that's business... Now let's try to go out of our way to expunge every shred of its existence possible and ensure it can never see the light of day by any other means". Maybe this is just my ignorance from never having taken a business class before, but when you have an unsuccessful or cancelled project- aren't you supposed to try to salvage it best you can either in profits or reputation? Like selling off the IP to someone else, just releasing what you have anyway (and keeping it out there) in hopes of at least getting a few drips of profit to recoup from all the resources already sunk into it, just taking your hands off it and let the fans do most of the work for you to maintain IP value and by extension company reputation in hopes of maybe reviving it at some point in the future? I can understand trying to sweep your colossal failures under the rug because you don't want to be reminded of how bad you used to be, but T.P. clearly wasn't- it was a resounding success, why would anyone go to such lengths to expunge that? Was it out of spite towards the development team? Things ended on such bad terms that it's not enough to blacklist them but to erase all record of projects they did while they worked for you regardless of how profitable they were/could have been? That's just bad business. I can understand a certain level of employee control, you need your employees to actually do their job and you don't want competitors to get ammunition that can be used against you, and maybe some level of professional courtesy would make you want to warn others in your field about potentially bad employees, but this doesn't seem to be for any of those reasons.
@MrPossessed
@MrPossessed 5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call Konami shifting away from making games a "bad" thing really. Frankly it's high time Konami just take their ruined IPs and piss off anyway. The only thing they contribute to gaming anymore is cringe, controversy, and desecration of beloved franchises. And let's be honest - we were never going to legitimately see MGS, Castlevania or Silent Hill again - just Konami propping their corpses up as macabre marionettes to dance for shekels when they're between Pachinko machines.

I've heard stories about new Konami employees not being given any work computers for weeks, while being fully expected to do the work regardless (even though it's literally impossible without their own computers). Okay, so for me something that tends to make me angry at Konami has to do with their treatment of the Yugioh card game, and just their apparent inability to think card effects through. Certain cards or even archetypes have lost almost all of their competitive viability because key combo pieces got banned for unforeseen interaction with other cards. This has reached a high point recently, where the Ace Monster of the current protagonist got banned while Vrains is still ongoing. Maybe it's not as bad as some of the stuff on this list, but as a player of the Yugioh TCG... it just feels like they have no ability to think things through when it comes to card design.

In response to your number 10 entry on this list: To be fair, Konami only PUBLISHED Bomberman: Act Zero. If you really want to give a company grief about the final product that gamers know and (understandably) hate, blame the REAL culprits behind B:AZ: the DEVELOPERS themselves, Hudson Soft. Personally, I can only guess myself as to why Hudson would take the series in a darker, more "mature" direction with Act Zero when previous Bomberman games were just fine by most players' standards as far as tone was concerned. Then again, I could say the same about the Bloody Roar franchise and the much-lambasted Bloody Roar 4, which most BR fans still accuse of killing the series to this day.

Nah. Konami still seems like the worst with how they treat their employees. EA and Activision are greedy, but EA hasn't had a controversey stemming from how they treat their employees since the early 2000s (ea wife) as far as I know, and I don't think Activision ever has. EA has even revamped their office campus to try and make it as good as it can be for their employees. Konami treats them like human garbage.

And they are doing their best to kill that off too. Firewall dragon enabled tons of First Turn Kills that, unlike decks from the past, were consistent and somewhat easy to pull off. And their reaction? Try to ban everything else besides Firewall Dragon because it is an "ace' card of the main protagonist (even though it only appears like 4-6 times out of 90 episodes), wrecking every other deck that came close to abusing it. Basically nuking a ton of decks and strategies rather than banning the problem card.
