Dang. This absolutely describes me. High hope and high fear of hope. Growing up I was simultaneously constantly told I was not good, not acceptable, didn't belong and that I was talented, brilliant, and a LOT was expected of me. What a way to fuck up a child. 65 now, decades of therapy, only now beginning to be myself...

Very good! My entire childhood was not showing any emotion or get beaten. We were never allowed to have fun or we got beaten . And I do mean beaten and bruised and sometimes things got broken. All of us kids are somber, serious adults because of this. We all have trouble with playing (or go to extremes), and we are all the overachiever in many ways. We weren’t allowed to show our likes or dislikes or anything creative at all and consequently, we all wound up being workaholics that rarely have genuine fun. I’ve been working with my siblings for years and we are all beginning to be able to open up to each others thanks to transformative session like this one. AWARENESS and VALIDATION is proving to be the keys to the kingdom. Thank you for sharing such useful information freely.

The thing about external metrics is so true!!! I have had numerous people I've spent the day with who must check their "steps" and will boast about how many steps they took in the day and feel a sense of pride in this. I outright REFUSE to track something like this and reject the idea of it. I often walk several miles a day because I enjoy it, because it feels good. I KNOW that if I ever felt the inclination to "track" how far I walked I'd end up walking far less.

So many insights! A therapist with an innate sense of empathy is what makes this guy so good at what he does. Less resistance to listen and change when someone feels understood.

Loved so much about this chat. Reinforced for me that it truly is okay to relax the self judgement that I can so often inflict on myself. Yes, we are living in a time of much self judgment and judgement of each other.

I was treated horribly at your program. Worsened my mental health. Emotionally abused me, and medically neglected me. Used alcohol to cope there. Was only shamed for it. When I developed a cross tolerance to benzos/alcohol and was in obvious withdrawal nobody helped me. Visibly was shaking, had hypervigilance, and was disoriented. Prob will inevitably end up unliving. On the off chance you actually take that in to better your program, I am telling you. In the meantime, I will keep exposing you and the rest of this cruel mental health system

Thank you for another excellent interview! I just purchased Dr. Ellenhorn’s book. As a person in recovery and an LCDC, I have witnessed the medical model (DSM) do more harm than good. Grateful for the paradigm shift. 💜✨

His ideas are great and all. Unfortunately IRL he doesn't follow through with many of his said values. I personally had him as a therapist in his program. He unfortunately wouldn't listen when I said my team was harming my mental health. I talk about on my channel

This hints at accepting one's shadow side. Assimilation of one's part of self that we don't like or don't wish to show to the world. Am I understanding right.. Would love for some inputs Aubrey thank you for this awesome conversation.
@slasaus14 жыл бұрын
yes accepting is really important in letting go. The narratives one tells themselves is rooted in ur reptillian brain (the fight or flight respons, the habbits, the believes etc)... one must understand these narratives and thus feelings of low frequency in the body are regulated by the mind. The mind is what u are, ur soul is who u are. The mind is a tool which can be trained to become a servant instead of a master, hence you will align with ur soul. Letting go of past trauma's and not being concerned abt the future means abundance, abundance of (positive instead of the wasted negative) energy, more time, better ideas... everything is yin yang in life, it got opposite poles, in every man there is something female and vice versa. Forgive urself and forgive the ones who caused anxiety with u. let go. live in the present moment and become aware of ur (monkey) mind. The solution lies on the inside instead of the outside and the more enlighted u get u will actually be able to get the sharp edges of ur self being. Because ur consciousness will be rising. Good luck on ur journey my friend! namaste

@@slasaus1 thank you for breaking this down for me. I guess the best service one can do(more than being of service to others) to be of service to oneself. Where one is observing one's inner world and as you said trying to be aware of why we do, think, and say the things every waking moment. Self awareness is key. Thank you again!!!
@slasaus14 жыл бұрын
@@stillwatersnightsky6533 yes pls remember u can only love someone to the level of self love. In an ideal world obviously coz the confident bloke with self love can fully express himself towards the woman with self love and vice versa. In daily life (social) fears of abandonment or inadequacy could be reasons for certain behavior (marrying a certain man for example). Yw mate, u will get there... if u want some interesting links re a certain subject pls dont hesitate to ask. Take care!

Once again, self help for the wealthy. Consider the very common hopeful perspective: "If you don't get something, it does seriously hurt you." What if what you're hoping for is healthcare, housing, food, a survivable wage? How about something for the majority of Americans. Keep the "rich guy therapy" on TV's Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless. It's not self confidence or faith I need, it's protection from Corporate America.

Not the top therapist. I had him, so I think I can speak on it. He profoundly let me down. I'm sick of hearing him go on and tote values he doesn't exemplify. I don't know when, but it's inevitable that I'll prob unalive one day. Already in intensive care from 3 attempts and I’ll be 30 in a couple of months. Going to places like his program just make me feel worse than before. I'm forced to be around professionals who don't understand me, and worsen my mental health. He sided with a real prick that is his friend when all I wanted was to switch to someone else. He also hired as the med director. The psychiatrist Matthew Bernarein. It's a miracle I didn't develop chronic alcolism as I used alcohol to cope there. All they ever did was shame, and blame me. They also would shame and blame me when I was in a bad mood, because I couldn't stand them.
