Great job. I am learning LRC mostly from your beginner videos, and this was a great supplement to your first LRC introductory video where you mispell a word (I think it was the word "first" spelled as "frist"). Anyway, this was a veriy helpful video, it really clarified some things I found a bit confusing. Thanks again.

I'm haunted by my spelling errors. Thanks for watching and I'm glad it's making sense.

I am starting to follow up your series of videos, excellent , keep up the good work and thanks for helping us. Just curios why you are saving to an external drive and working from there, is this a limitation on your lap top ?......looks lie you may be using a MB Air 15" .......
@tv510Ай бұрын
I feel it's safer, and it makes duplicating easier. But mostly, I can just bring the drive with all the assets on it, to another computer if I like.

Hi Terry, this is the second of your videos I have watched and are so good I’ve hit the subscribe button. I have only just started using Lightroom Classic from the mobile version where I can save a modified image straight into the Photo App on my iPad or iPhone. Can this be done on Lightroom Classic on the mac? I can only see a way of saving it to ‘Pictures’ or somewhere else on the hard drive/external drive not into ‘Photos’. Many thanks.
@tv51029 күн бұрын
Hi David, I'm pretty sure the default on the Mac is into pictures. But I almost never do that. I want my catalogs to be easy to back up, so I use external. That way if my main computer crashes, I can go to another computer quickly to access my images. While I know Pictures will back up to the cloud, the large amounts of images I produce will tax that service pretty quickly. Good luck.

@ Thank you Terry, I have just watched your video on ‘flagging’ and sorting images into collections and spent around an hour doing the same to mine. Do you have a video on backing up the images to an external drive? My MacBook has 1TB of storage but I have a couple of 2TB external storage devices I cash use.

@ not yet, but ironically I’m working on that now. Should be up in the next week or so. Thanks.

Hi Terry, thanks for helping me better understand and use Lightroom Classic. Here's a couple questions for you. Are Virtual Copies essentially duplicates? Can i print or send Virtual Copies? There could be situations where I develop different adjustments with one photo - can I "save" these copies and the original? Thanks for your time and help, Morgan
@tv5103 ай бұрын
Hi Morgan, Virtual Copies are just like any other image. You can export, print, bring over into Photoshop, etc. This is a great way to try different ways to process an image and play around with features. The one cool thing, is VC's don't take up much space. They are essentially "instructions" to Lightroom on how to process an image. Not an additional image. You are not working on the original so no matter what you do, you can always go back to the beginning. Enjoy!

Hi Terry, can you help with a problem that I’ve had a few times while Importing images into Lightroom, this doesn’t happen every time so thats why I’m getting confused why. I’ve imported DNG, and JPEG files and the majority of the time they have been imported straight away. But then every so often they don’t and I'm getting an Error message has in the screen shot here. I've tried importing with Add, Move, & Copy which doesn't seem to make any difference. If I try to import the same files again the same thing happens. Any ideas whats going wrong, is it me or one of the settings. I can't seem to be able to see it myself? I have screen shot of the Error message but can not attach with comments.

Terry Thanks for your great instructions. I seem to be doing something wrong? I want to print a virtual copy, but it saves the original. Do I need to sync? I would like to keep both copies. Also, can I just save as jpeg wo saving for email or dmg? Why can't i just save a full size jpeg ro print? I have a problem printer directly from LR. Do you have a video on that?
@tv5103 ай бұрын
I don’t have a video on that, but printing from a JPEG should be easy. Are you using the VC, export to JPEG? Should be working.

What happens if you are importing your image from your photos library (I phone photos) rather than a plug in device?
@tv5104 ай бұрын
I've done it many times. That way I can purge images that are gathering on my phone.

Thanks for an excellent video. I know how to go from Lightroom Classic to photoshop and back. But If I open an image and edit it in photoshop, without first using Lightroom Classic, how do I get imported into Lightroom classic?
@tv5105 ай бұрын
Generally when you take an image out of LRC and into PS via the "Edit in Photoshop 2024" after you work on it and save it. It goes back to Lightroom Classic. Occasionally, you might do a "Save as" then note where you are saving it and just go back to that folder and import it. If you have don't import suspected duplicates checked on import, then it should be only file that shows in the import as the others (one's you have already imported) are grayed out. Hope this helps.

Can you make a Lrc for videos editing
@tv5105 ай бұрын
I don't edit video in LRC, I tried it once, and found it not super intuitive. I use Final Cut, so I don't know too much about the video capacities of LRC.

Hdo you delete a catalog
@tv5102 ай бұрын
Delete a catalog? This is not something I would recommend. But if you're dead set on deleting a catalog, just delete it like you would any other file in your computer. On a mac, drag it to the trash can.
