12:30 the way my jaw DROPPED 😮 It’s actually pretty terrible that people have to worry about not only the state of the world, their person state of mind/life/general acceptance of the world but also that you may or may not be assigned a counselor/therapist that makes it WORSE & harder than when you reached out for help in the first place. I hate that I have to say it, but it’s important that people are aware that the worst kind of people SEEK OUT these positions of power in society, not to help, but to harm and/or to boost & feed their own personal ego. But unfortunately that’s the way it is- when you’re at your most vulnerable and you’re more likely to encounter someone who sees that as an opportunity to further exploit you. Videos like these are so so important ❤

Some people don't understand how hard it is to lose a pet. I don't cry much. I cried when I lost my mom and pap and when Dolores o'reiden the singer of the cranberries died and when my cat cuddles died. If anyone doesn't understand a pet is a family member that's on them. We who have had pets pass know the hurt. P.s. Amanda you're so awesome 💯

I think the worst part for me that bothers me the most is the times where I'm not feeling/haven't felt heard. Imagine that being a person's first experience with a therapist. These people have nothing else to compare that experience to; it's their FIRST time. Chances are high that they won't be going back and jump to a conclusion that all therapists are like this. It's a shame. They need to do better. I am at a loss for words about the mac n cheese therapist; what the actual hell is up with that? That woman should not be practicing if she's gonna treat patients like she has something better to do at all times. It's plain wrong. Imagine being treated that way in a normal conversation with a friend or someone you thought you could trust.

15 or so years ago I had a therapist ask me what I wanted to do with my life . I told him I was interested in being a therapist and helping ppl with stuff I’ve been thru. He proceeded to scoff and say no don’t ever be a therapist . Then added “ Don’t expect to be anything big in your life “ .unfortunately I let that destroy me and 15 years later I’m jobless , living at home and no education . My mind thinks if someone of his stature says that , it must be true . Nowadays I just say “ guess he was right “ so I never dream big and at 45 I have no sustained dreams .

I can't for the life of me understand why someone we trust with our mental health thinks such statements are appropriate. Right after my unalive attempt, mine told me that "people like me couldn't be happy." After that appointment I sat in the car, my knuckled turning white around the steering wheel, listening to Prove You Wrong by Mike Shinoda on repeat. This was 2018. Since then I've been decertified as having a Serious Mental Illness (which she also said was impossible), got my Associate's in Psychology (finish Bachelor's in the Fall), have celebrated six years in recovery, helped changed Arizona law, was named one of Strong Magazine's Women to Watch and am in the happiest and healthiest relationship of my life. PROVE HIM WRONG!!!!! (PS. I'm 39. It's never too late!)

You know what my worst therapist story is, therapists are just like any other doctor, some are utter shit.
@MetalMonkey4 ай бұрын
Therapy did nothing for me and was completely pointless, but it wold be worse if Case 1 was my therapist. Case 1: (Therapist) Don't have therapy sessions in your home/bring your child to the office. I'm assuming the therapist is working from home. Case 2: "The end times?" Only in America!

My therapist was quite helpful with my struggle with the god aspect of 12 step programs and helped me look at what worked, so I didnt keep a resentment towards a sobriety program that didnt work for me. She never mentioned her beliefs or even used any right/wrong language. I am grateful she wasn’t the opposite, because guidance on how to drop that resentment allowed me to go from atheist to agnostic in recent years. I slowly let go of my anger at that daunting God word and simply be okay with not being sure what i believe in at the moment.

I love this. I wouldn't go the 12 step route for my recovery because of the god aspect. I'm happy to hear some professionals are accomodating with that!

Very unprofessional,especially the ‘end times’ therapist. It does say in the bible no one knows the day of judgement, there’s only signs which in the past have been misinterpreted. Very unprofessional indeed.

Unless a person wants faith to be part of their treatment, it shouldn't be brought up at all.
