I run a Crawlmaster Magnum 11t in my Trailwalker. I can't tell if there is any less torque than a higher turn motor. That is a brushed motor masterpiece, thanks for the time and effort put into all the small details. I wouldn't hesitate to put it up against any other brushed motor setup on the market. The control and feel even rival my 3300kv Axe system.

Very interesting info. Not something I would do at home probably but actually love the explanation. I feel very comfortable with hard numbers as opposed to opinion. Obviously opinions play a role some people like X instead of Y and so on, but Love the explanations. Thanks for sharing. I've had nine different Holmes Hobbies motors And they have all performed excellent. Currently my favorite and running in two of my rigs is your puller pro 2700kv w/Mamba X on 4s. Granted 90% of the time I'm only using 10% throttle but I absolutely love that I have that available wheel speed If needed.

Thanks to your videos, I am going to run a Revolver V3 2500KV 10 pole on 4s in a capra with a 3 gear transmission, and underdrive the rear diff, and rear portals, rather than overdriving the front, and if needed, play with the spur and pinion gear to get the right speed. Just have to wait for a Crawlmaster Mini ESC v2 to come back in stock locally

Hi John I run a magnum motor in a Capra paired with a HW 1080 and it’s pretty smooth. I was wondering if it would be worth the expense to change to a crawlmaster mini? And yes I realize you might be a little biased 😄. Always love the tech videos!!

Question for everyone here. I'm working on my first kit build and just wondering about the longevity of brushed vs. brushless. How much upkeep is there to a brushed motor? My only other rc right now is a Gen8 Axe version. Just curious to maybe try out something different. Thanks!

I bought a trx4 used and it came with a hobbywing fusion but it's the 1200kv motor. So that's the worst option of a brushless motor for me? Is there anything I can do to improve or help it gearing wise? It seems pretty strong on crawling but not much wheel speed

Hey John! I have an axial wraith with the stock 20T motor. I’m looking to get a little more speed off of 3s. Would the 2700kv or the 3500kv puller pro be a better fit? Thanks!

@@Cooldibs I run the 3500kv puller pro with a 10t pin and its perfect. It's slow for crawling yet has the power and speed to do a backflip of small stumps and such bashing around. I have 3 wraith 2.2 rigs and love them. The 2700kv 10 shooter is another amazing motor for the wraith. Can't get any smoother slow crawling then those. But needs 4s to have the wheel speed most want. I've even ran my wraith on 4s with the 3500kv pp. It never got hot. Even ran it around the yard in tall grass and full throttle up and down the road a few time's and only got to 130° temp on the motor. Esc hit 150° witch was fine. Just gear down and injoy !!!!

You talked about breaking in the motor. There is a guy around here that I think mixes kerosene with his water and breaks his motors in. Somehow the motors that people buy from him are so much faster than everybody else's. We are supposed to be running a stock Titan 12 turn traxas motor. How does he get his so much faster than everybody else's. I do use water to break mine in then I flush them with connection cleaner then oil the bushings. Thank you and I love watching your videos.
@scottvertz9912
@scottvertz9912 Жыл бұрын
2 weeks late but here's the short answer, kerosene works as a lubricant and detergent, it cleans more of the carbon off the stock brushes than plain water, and it also allows for a more gentle/slower seat in of the brushes to create better contact. But this also shortens the life of the motor, however in racing it really doesn't matter since you're changing them out regularly. And at $20 who cares. Haha

@@stompindakka3222man I sure hope nobody ever gets saddled with anything more than 35t in any crawler. Otherwise they are painfully slow. My son's 1.9 wraith has almost 400 miles on a 27t 540 trailmaster sport(good balance between speed and power on 3s.) But I've also used the 12t trailmaster 550(my favorite) trx4 21t trailmaster 550 wraith,and a 12t crawl master Vattera ascender. All have tons of miles, and none were as much as the rc4wd.

So if torque is better in the 21T area and 21T can easily be geared correctly to a crawler; what is the point of higher turn motors (beyond going slower because gearing would take care of that)?
@HolmesHobbies
@HolmesHobbies Жыл бұрын
Some people don't want all that wheelspeed. Slower motors are easier to control.
@Voodoobrew101
@Voodoobrew101 Жыл бұрын
Also possibly to a small extent efficiency, higher turn motors with higher voltage will have less wasted power. Not a great trade IMO, the higher voltage also wears the brushes faster. Don't forget not all applications have so many gearing options readily available.
@justinomarino

@@HolmesHobbies so than what about 85t to 55t those are beyond slow when geared down. Is it just the simple fact that people will buy it so there is a supply? Or is there a reason for those?

Honestly, if those motors aren't worn out I'd just keep using them unless you want to save them. Since it's not a comp rig you could use about any 540, something like a regular torquemaster or crawlmaster would be just fine.

Sorry, but your resistance test has little to do with with torque. It's telling you something about the losses and maybe the efficiency. Torque of an electric motor, no matter of what kind, is related to current, number of turn per coil, pole number and magnetic flux density. That is according to some physicians like Faraday(BEMF), Lenz(negative sign of the BEMF), Lorentz(Lorenz force), Ampere(see definition of the unit Ampere), Webber, Tesla(not the company),... Sometime reading books is better than watching YT.
