Amazing content 🙌 you really put a lot of time and effort to make your excellent videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💓💓💓🙏🙏.thank you! I have been looking to buying a property in the cabarete/Sosúa area - I noticed the maintenance fees HOA fees are extremely high on a monthly basis... I wonder if you could make a video on homes/apartments for sale and why the maintenance fees are so high- hopefully this changes-and if all the utilities are included on those fees?🤔

Many thanks Aya for your kind compliments!! I will keep your suggestion in mind for sure. Here in the Sosua / Cabarete area you can find nice residential areas that are not gated, yet still quite secure if done correctly, and this way there are no monthly fee's or association rules to put up with. I hire my services out as a consultant, and usually the person turns up with a list of questions relating to his / her specific goals, and in your case I can also help you a lot with solid real estate contacts. If you send me an email to info@educatedtraveler.info then I'll happily send you back my price plan. Brgds Mr.T

I'm going across to domincan Republic puerto plata in june 2017 looking forward to it love culture and marine life etc... but people have been stating not to go off campus of the hotel as its not safe especially because the people like to take advantage of people who are under 30 as they see a easy target to steal etc... but your advice is helping me to go out and be adventurous and actually enjoy life. just want to say thanks keep up the good work and hope to bump into you to get more advice and a tour round the best places haha 😁

Hi there, thanks for your kind comments and for watching! Many travel agents and resort staff will try to scare you into staying within the resort and encourage you to only to head out on their guided tours. This is simply just a ploy to sell you their tours, and to get commissions from the souvenir shop amigo's etc... Don't fall for any of that non-sense. If you stay in the public eyes, then it's one of the safer countries in the world, as there's a nice kind of respect in society here, not accepting people to neither provoke or use any violence against each-other, so rarely will you see any commotion here. And in the vary rare case you see a confrontation, then it usually attracts attention by a crowd in seconds and police get called to the scene fairly fast. All thefts and pick-pocketing are opportunity thefts, and then there's other scams scams like in all other international tourist spots of-course, so quickly reach out to the expats who you meet here, and learn from them how to go about handling anything you're in doubt of. You will meet a number of beggars and hustlers, and unless they are old age or handicapped, then my suggestion is to turn them down with a friendly "No gracias" or "No tengo dinero's", or if they get real pushy, then being white I say "Soy blanco no un banco!" (I'm white, not a bank!) Be more open to those kind folks who sell an actual product or a real service, as they are just trying to make some honest money to survive. Hope that helped - Brgds Mr.T

Thankyou for the advice helps alot and yeah I'm white and from the uk. I've been to other places like cyprus, America, Spain and love travelling to various places for culture, atmosphere, crystal sea, fishing site seeing etc... I'm not rich and I'm on a budget but that won't get me down just gonna smash it and enjoy it. 1 last question... is it better to go to the excursion like e.g. surfing for cheaper than it is to book it within the hotel. thankyou. kind regards. Matt.

Hello Mr. T, most of your vidoes are about the north coast of the DR. Are the differences to the south coast considerable?
@EducatedTraveler
@EducatedTraveler 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ioana - Many thanks for watching! Depends on whether you're referring to the people or the nature?, however let me give you my scoop on both. The North Coast is very multi cultural, with foreigners and Dominicans often either living next door to each-other or together. In many of the gated communities, you'll primarily find foreigners living there, where Dominicans instead often live in a variety of different areas, yet protecting their properties by ensuring every door and window has security bars on them. In the touristic areas, many locals are spoilt, and try tricks and bump up the prices on tourists, yet you get that crap behavior all around the globe in tourist spots, however in the towns or city's where they are not used to tourists, you'll usually be treated equally if you speak a bit of Spanish, and the people are in general very kind, confident and helpful. In regards to foreigners, here you get everything from the worst to the nicest folks, so don't lower your standards just because you see palm tree's and blue skies. If he or she is not the type you would hang out with in your home country, then move on like you normally would. I love the fact that among the nicest people here, that they are very positive and adventurous, so it's an easy place to make friends if you are an extrovert and down-to-earth. In regards to the nature, I prefer the North Coast, as it's got a nice climate, and seems much greener than round i.e. Punta Cana. Also here you can access many beaches and mingle with the Dominicans without being blocked of by controlling resort owners security. I love the hills, mountains, rivers and small villages with friendly locals here in the North, but hey that's just me, others prefer Punta Cana or Santo Domingo as it seems more civilized to them, but that's the rat race many of us wanted to get away from. Anyway, there you have it, hope that is helpful. Brgds Mr.T :)

Educated Traveler thanks for the tip, not exactly what I was looking for. I was really interested in the sport quads, not the 4*4 's.

Hi again Rex! There's an American guy here in town called Mike who's run a business for a while renting out sports quads and buggies, but he's either closed down or moved it somewhere else. I've somehow lost his number, sorry. Maybe try Xtreem Car Rental Sosua (30 meters from Bailey's restaurant) www.nicepeoplenetworking.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/xtreme-car-rent.jpg Ask for "Ludwig", as he might have sports quads for rent - good luck!
