Why? Those children that worked in the factories prior to 1938 went on to build the greatest nation in the history of the world...That's one of the great problems of today; the kids are spoiled and lazy...From a Baby Boomer.

well, that means nothing, if you buy or depend on the products made by kids...

You might want to refresh yourself on our laws. 14-15 can work outside of school hours. There are limitations but honestly how often do you hear of enforcement activities, rarely at best. Now here is an ugly truth, most countries around the world are going to be forced to return to this practice because of declining population growth. Children will be allowed to do more and more jobs that may not be completely "safe" in order to free up older people to do the more hazardous work. Countries like China and Russia are completely screwed. The US would have been in deeper than we are but we have been engaged in the largest population steal in history for the last twenty of so years.

These machines are 192o's technology. The punch and stamping presses are prone to repeating. Thousands of fingers were severed in their time. No goggles or safety glasses, no masks, no hearing protection. No housecleaning. This is how we get cheap products from overseas. I'm happy the kids are earning a wage to support their families although I doubt it's a living wage.
@jimfarmer781122 күн бұрын
I doubt these are exported. You can buy better quality parts for a lower price than you will get from Pakistan. The only reason that Pakistan has such inefficient factories is because they charge 80% import duties.

Pakistan: nationwide protests against rising cost of electricity Red Workers’ Front 5 September 2023 Countrywide protests against extremely costly electricity have erupted in Pakistan during the past few weeks. The protest wave started in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, where students, workers, small traders, intellectuals, political activists and others organised large-scale public protests in various cities. This wave has now swept a nation that was already on the brink of an explosion. Protests and complete shutdowns of shops and transport were observed in Muzaffarabad and other adjoining cities on 31 August, while Rawlakot, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh and many other cities will see a complete strike today. In previous weeks, huge protests have been held in all these cities and there is a campaign for a general boycott of paying electricity charges, which is being considered as the beginning of a civil disobedience movement. More protests and strikes are being planned for the coming weeks through Awami Action Committees, which sprung up in dozens of cities in a movement two years ago and have led successful protests for government subsidies of wheat flour and other essential items. www.marxist.com/pakistan-nationwide-protests-against-rising-cost-of-electricity.htm

In order to prove structural capacity and uniform quality standards, first world bolts are carefully manufactured and tested. When you buy a first workd bolt you know what it is made of and how strong it is. This bolt fabrication from scrap unknown steel may be dangerous if any of them wind up in any real structural system.

I don’t normally comment, but that really is disgusting. Not even a nod to safety for these kids. Sure, I get an education may not be possible and families need to eat, but how much does it take to set up a few guards, wear gloves, and otherwise refine the process so he isn’t sticking his finger in the chopper, or near the milling blades later, or soaking in old engine oil. It’s one thing to have economic realities, another just to plain give less than zero fucks about a kids safety.
