When I sometimes look up at my plants I'm struck by how unusual they are, even the commonest tropical plants are so cool, with the fenestrations, stripes, dots, visible veining, unexpected shapes and colours, etc. Plants are so cool❤

I recently got a jewel orchid, the lighting bolt looking one, and I've been loving it! I put it in a lil terrarium bubble and hung it from the curtain rod by my bed. The first new leaf is almost unfurled, so I think it's happy!

Such a cool list Memo! For your colocasia, did you grow it outside or indoors? I got a bunch of plantlets of the black coral and it doesn’t size up much indoors. I tried giving I it more humidity, water (semi hydro), grow lights, etc, but it never works. I finally got rid of it because it usually has 3-4 leaves at a time, sacrificing the oldest leaf, so it will perpetually have a shriveled up leaf on its way out at all time. And on black it really shows. Does that happen when they get more matured?

I kept mine indoors with similar issues but when I summered it outdoors, it exploded in growth even here in the UK, but still experimenting! 🌿🤔

Yes your right, rhizome begonias are Rex begonias, then there Kane/cane an then tuberous. I recently started collecting Elaphoglossiums I think they’re so cool. You should check them out 💚

Foliage freaks r us 😅 The diversity of foliage is what keeps me interested, and there's some real stunners and weirdos out there. For me, its not just about patterns, it's also about shapes, textures and overall standoutability. I 💚💚💚 your vittarifolium. I've just got myself 3 little seedlings and can't wait to see thoee belts grow long. Weirdly enough, with all the Alocasias that I have collected, I haven't added the micholitziana or frydek to my collection yet 🤔 I need to go do something about that.....after I make some room 😬 You know I always enjoy your videos, so keep up the good work, Memo 🪴💚

Wonderful video, as always. ❤ I love watching videos about not your typical aroid, but other interesting plants. I love the Cotyledon tomentosa so much, the leaves are super soft and look like fluffy bear paws. There are so many succulents with cool shapes and colours. Also when one only has a small space: the Pilea Moon Valley. It looks as if it came out of a jungle. I think I commented too late on your last video about repotting, so I wanted to touch in that briefly: you mentioned about ripping the coco chip blocks and if anybody else experienced this and has trouble. I soak them in water for an hour or so. Once they are a bit wet, you can easily break them into pieces. My blocks are about the size of a brick, so one hour is definitely enough. I then let them dry again and pack them for later use. Hope this helps for future repotting 😊

Hello, I know you showed your pellionia pulchra in the secret houseplants video lately. I'd like to ask if you also have a pellionia repens/trailing watermelon begonia which I believe is more robust compared to pulchra. Its juvenile leaves are almost black then transition to silvery green with green outlines. That could be a candidate for a gothic plant showcase with black-ish foliage plants 😊

More great plants to add to my wish list! Do you have Begonia marmaduke in your collection. It’s one of my absolute favourite foliage plants. Lime green leaves with red patches - gorgeous! If you want to see mine, there’s a video on begonias on my channel. However, word of warning, it was the second video I posted when I was new to KZbin so the editing is a bit rough and I talk like a robot! So if you do watch, please check out a more recent video as well so you know they do get better! 😊

Love your list! I have a Vittarifolium and just adore it! I'm really digging on my Anthurium Croatii with its reptilian texture and jungle vibe. I'm also obsessing over my Florida Ghost - it just gave me a white leaf and another is starting to unfurl. I gave it a dedicated 15W Sansi clip light and that is why she's giving me such gorgeous foliage. Glad you seen to be feeling better! I love your content. Thank you!

Hi Memo, I agree 100 % with your selection. I very much enjoyed the video. It´s very useful that you also mention how easy/difficult the care for each plant is - helps with editing my wishlist :-) I find D. Reflector particularly stunning - sad I don´t have the space for it now. It could have maybe part II as there are so many cool foliage plants :-) I´d add: Begonia fulgarata (newly discovered), Begonia rex Fireworks, Begonia rex Rainbow Falls (grows like a weed - even I failed to kill it so far :-D ), Begonia brevirimosa, the bloody Calathea White Fusion, my beloved Alocasia baginda Silver Dragon and Stromanthe Triostar, and many many more :-) The „normal“ people visiting us always go after our Tradescantia Nanouk.

A few really cool plants that I can think of off the top of my head are: 🌷✨ 1. Anthurium Luxurians / Anthurium Lapoanum (just in general corrugated anthuriums) 2.Anthurium Pallidiflorum (corkscrew flower and gorgeous plant) 3. Anthurium Veitchii narrow form 4. Philodendron joepii 5. Philodendron Corsinianum 5. Crasula unbella 6. Hoya Leucantha 7. Hoya lauterbachii 8. Bulbophyllum medusae 9. Microsorum thailandicum 10. Alocasia Scalprum

Are colocasia easy to grow indoors? I just bought a C mojito and I’m excited to see it get big!
@Houseplantygoodness5 ай бұрын
Exciting times, Jody! 🎉 Colocasia can be a challenge indoors due to their light needs (I find them super needy for light, indoors) and they can get quite big if happy indoors, but worth it!

Great list Memo! These are all really lovely and interesting! I'm a weird foliage girl, so these are right up my alley. I've been keeping my eyes open for Dieffenbacchia Reflector and Begonia melanobullata (or the ferrox, I'll have either!) but unfortunately they are hard to find for me. Fingers crossed! Love the Cissus discolor but I couldn't keep it happy long term either. Tried it twice, didn't succeed and decided, whilst it's stunning, it was not worth twisting myself in knots over! I'm horrible with anthuriums, haven't been able to keep one alive for more than a few months, so I'll pass on the vittariifolium, even if it's gorgeous! Two I have, love to bits and that would be great additions to your list are Pilea involucrata Moon Valley and Philodendron Black Cardinal. I find the Pilea to be really easy to care for; it's quite vocal when it's thirsty and it bounces back quickly from gentle neglect, unlike many other pileas! P. Black Cardinal is a great one for lovers of deep dramatic black and is fairly easy to take care of too. It's a slow grower for me though, so you I to be very patient for new leaves!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, hopefully soon! 🤞🌱 Those are some great additions too!

Dioscorea dodecaneura (aka discolor) have such beautiful foliage, the shape, color and pattern are all exceptional. And it is not a difficult. My favorite is still the true Haworthias. There are so many different leaf shape, texture and veining that make them so very collectable!
