you're the bloody best Jiayi - if producing these videos is making you happy please don't stop. your videos are packed with heaps of useful information in a really engaging way. thanks heaps xxx Edit: i just finished watching the video - wonderful work - I'm really curious about the 'T' character, as in T-Shirt you mention at @6:50 - is there any chance you could do a video looking other such characters that are often used in english transliterations? no worries if not - very grateful fan here and just hope ur well x

Hey Rirk, I can't tell you how happy and motivated I am reading this. I'll do a little research but so far T in T Shirt is the only one in my mind and I used it for several other sentences and grammar points before cause I think it's easier to introduce new upon something known (hopefully audiences don't get tired of it!). Thanks again for your time and have a great weekend!

Once agin your way of building up on characters and words are awesome - I'm a beginner in Chinese language and I find it very very interesting. If I have understood it a little , Chinese synonyms have very subtle differences and therefore probably can't be used as a replacement. In that note, could you kindly let us know whether Kan used with the meaning "visit" can be replaced by Baifang which also means "visit".It would be great if you can also incorporate the synoyms and the antonyms withinn the scope of a particular subject and if the video becomes too long , maybe split into two parts. I hope this will help us (the beginners ) to expand our vocabulary. Finally I can't thank you enough for your wonderful videos!

Hi! I must say: I am so impressed by you asking this great question while modesty claiming that you were just beginning! Yes "拜访" bài fǎng is a very formal “visit“. And if I may, 拜 is a compound character with two hands手, cause it’s an old curtesy to visit someone with hands crossing gesture, which perhaps makes it easy for you to relate the word to meaning accordingly. Cheers!

Forgot to clarify that 拜访 bài fǎng is usually for friends or teachers or advisors, not for family or doctors…

@@ChinesewithJiayi I have my HSK4 exam next month. I learnt about 1600 chinese characters like crazy without understanding the logic of radicals. And now i review my characters with the concept of radicals in my mind and i never forget them. For example, I always mixed up 很 and 银 till i watched your last video where you explained how 银 has that silver radical. That video change my approach to characters and now 老师, i enjoy learning them. Thank you for broadening my view.

I’m so glad to read this! You really pointed out something tricky and difficult! The phonetic parts e.g. 艮can be with many radicals but sadly not always sound the same! We natives make pronunciation mistakes sometimes without checking dictionary! You are doing awesome!

I didn’t classify my videos according to HSK. I personally see Chinese is a bit special as a language (more comparable to art), in which everything could be a starting point, and every one can develop his or her own method. And important is that we get joy out of learning. My favorite German teacher said something similar, that the levels are like ladders that keep people running from one exam to another…

老师,您身体怎么样? I love how you explain separately the characters...., but sometimes the other part is not explained for example on the 脱口秀,the first part was explained, the 秀 was not. And it happens quite often in your videos.

谢谢🙏🏼for watching so carefully! I did mentioned 秀 as translation (pure pronunciation, no meaning in this context) of SHOW but it might sound too subtle as I made it together with 脱口. I intend to focus on each video the main topic (either a verb or a radical) and not to go too much deep into words involved in each examples. As you see, it could take days to just talk about each of them😂nonetheless, I take your feedback into consideration to better explain in future programs.

@@ChinesewithJiayi 谢谢老师。 Maybe it was not clear for me since I know that each characterr singularly have different meaning. And sometimes when put together it has almost nothing to do with its singular meaning. Thank you very much for considering. 加油老师。 我从来的安哥拉。 我真的喜欢学习中文。谢谢您的帮助。

Hi Elsa, you are right about "each character means something", unless it's just a translation of foreign word to match the sound, even if the character itself is full of meanings in other situations...e.g. 秀itself means a lot in other Chinese words, just when it's picked to match the sound of SHOW, then it doesn't...
