Robert Wise....one of the most versatile directors ever....science fiction, war movies, sports movies, film noir, musicals, dramas....the man did it all. #14 Star Trek seems a little high.....I read that he wished he would have done that movie differently. #17 I have always wanted to see Set-Up. Karloff with a Top 10 spot....let me see those ratings...lol. #7 Interesting...he helped Susan Hayward get her Oscar. Good Top 5.....with his most famous movies getting the top two spots. I have been meaning to rewatch #5 The Sand Peebles...for awhile now. Good video. Voted up.

Star Trek TMP was actually lower on the list, sadly, being a Trek fan I gave it a little nudge up. I've probably watched that more than any other Robert Wise film, The Day The Earth Stood Still is a big favorite too. Of his musicals I've always preferred West Side Story, incredible music, dance and songs. The Sound of Music was the first movie to topple Gone With the Wind of it's pedestal as highest grossing film ever (in unadjusted grosses) and saved 20th Century Fox from possible bankruptcy after costly failures like Cleopatra and Doctor Dolittle. The Body Snatcher is a highly rated horror from producer Val Lewton, he also produced Cat People and I Walked With a Zombie. The Haunting is another classic, like you said Wise was a very versatile director. He also directed The Hindenburg and Helen of Troy, both had very low ratings and dropped off the chart, in fact The Hindenburg was at the very bottom of the list, it wasn't that bad surely? The effects won an Oscar and it was reasonably successful for Universal. Thanks for posting!

Very fine n talented director of fifties n sixties.Not well tabled,Tribute to Badman,starring James Cagney,Iren Pappas n Lee Van Cliff should be in top five.Why you omitted 1956 periodical movie Helen of Troy.Great star cast,compisition of Max Steiner n photography of Harry Straddling.Must be in top 10.👍👍👍

Well, I'm one of those who can't stand The Sound of Music, but I do think West Side Story is one of the 20th Century's great works of art - and I do love the film, although it does have its detractors. I dread the release of the Spielberg version. But Wise's the Haunting is a masterpiece and the Body Snatcher is incredible in its own right, and has, to me, Karloff's greatest performance.

I can't understand why Spielberg wanted to remake West Side Story, it was pretty much perfect. But I'll have to see it out of curiosity. Karloff was great in The Body Snatcher but his iconic performance as the Frankenstein Monster has yet to be beaten and probably never will. Thanks for posting!

No no no! 1. The Sound of Music 2. The Haunting 3. The Andromeda Strain West Side Story - one of the most boring films I've ever had to sit through (one Christmas at a relatives!)
