There's a photo in an addition of LIFE magazine in the early 1940s showing a woman with the skull of a Japanese soldier that her fiancé sent to her. I always thought that was a creeeeeepy photo.

My grandfather, rest his soul, was a 35yr navy combat veteran. He had pictures of live Japanese soldiers buried up to there necks in concrete as US and Allied soldiers walked by and defecated on them. Even had a few pictures of soldiers holding heads that were severed, some were displayed spiked onto the swords that beheaded them, others were placed between the legs of there headless bodies.

War is as bad as It gets. Not that horrible cruelty doesn't continue in non-waring times. It is insainty at its worse. At least planet Earth is as bad as it gets. We are connected; so all must become better before any are free of this earth 🌎 and the horrors it holds in its inhabitants.

@@darlahenri8095 True, but let's not forget all the criminals who signed up to avoid jail time and all the criminals that joined up to avoid being caught, then ya got the criminally minded who signed up just for the opportunity to do those evil things knowing they'd get away with it. Then you've got the people who think about it, wish they could do it, but something inside them is preventing that dark side from coming out and how happy they are that someone did it for them. A mass hysteria.

56:00 The dishonorably discharged inmates would be used to fill sandbags and build dams to stay off flooding during severe storms, many died when levees broke and inmates washed away there unidentified bodies were buried with just a white marker, no names or data of any kind, no effort was ever made to identify them. I had an army friend in my old engineer unit who was stationed there for 10 years.
