One more honourable mention should be the newest Mercedes C63 AMG; that has a 2 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, but also has a hybrid system which adds a massive 25% extra weight over the old one which had a 4 litre V8. So the new C63 AMG, despite being a small-ish sedan/saloon, weighs almost 2.2 tonnes; that's around 100kgs heavier than the new Ferrari Purosangue which is a much larger car as that's in the SUV class and has a massive 6.5 litre V12! The hybrid system takes up so much space that the estate/station wagon version of the C63 AMG has a boot/truck space that's smaller than a lot of hatchbacks; it's even smaller than a Renault Clio's boot which is several size classes below. The saloon version's boot is smaller than a Mini Cooper's!

This is why i hate plugin hybrids. You put 2 weak powertrains in hopes that together they make up for each others weaknesses. The end result is the worst of both worlds: An EV with poor range and no instant torque or power, and a gas car with a boring 4pot and horrible fuel economy as soon as the battery runs out because the car is so heavy.

Seeing how cars are getting heavier hurts my soul, since safety doesn't NECESSARELY means heavyweight, the Miata ND took 5 out of 5 stars in its crash test in Australian NCAP, and it's a relatively affordable sports car, so manufacturers are just being lazy and throwing all the gizmos and luxury features that are trendy now and putting on the car. The thing about the single seat demons is that they stripped out everything relating to and for the other seats among other things like insulation etc, so if you bought a demon with all the optional seats, and then took them out to have only the drivers seat, your demon would still be heavier than the single seat from the factory

The Rimac Nevera still handles beautifully, and, to me, is a showcase for how much can be done with an electric powertrain. And with high power outputs comes more energy storage, which means more batteries, so I don't blame it much for being a little heavier than expected. Yes, its lap times are nowhere near cars like the GT3RS, but I'd argue that no other cars with that weight will be able to lap the Nürburgring faster. Rimac has done such a good job at their powertrain stuff, which is what shines through for me. And same is the case with Lucid and their Air Sapphire. Lets see what Rimac and Bugatti bring to the table, now that they are effectively the same company. BTW, @TopCarsTV, it is pronounced "Rimats", and also, small correction: 5100 lb isn't 2765 kg, it is 2313 kg. That new BMW M5 deserves to be made fun of. What pisses me off is not just because its that heavy, and not just because it looks more like a rental Kia than a BMW, its because it feels like its poorly engineered and there were no headline targets set as to what it needs to achieve. As a result, the powertrain just seems to be over-complicated and makes it seem like they didn't concentrate enough on making it lighter in their blind pursuit of hybridization just because everybody else is doing it. They could've done it the Bugatti Tourbillion way (NA Big Engine with mild electric assistance), which, BTW, makes that Tourbillion lighter than the Chiron. The XM is even worse, because, not only is it as heavy as a Solar System, it almost made me spit out all the water I was drinking while eating dinner when I saw this thing. And that BMW Twin-Turbo V8 sounds like the world's most boring sounding 4-cylinder and a Dyson running at the same time. Absolutely loathe that thing to death. Mercedes technically did it better with the new C63, because they halved the combustion engine side and made it lighter (not that its Lotus Elise light, more like a Lotus Eletre light), but no V8 meant that everybody hates it (including me), probably even more than Priuses. And speaking of Mercedes, that SL43. Not only does it weigh as much as a Submarine and then some, it also has a stupid eco-box Turbo 4-Cylinder and its stupid that Mercedes even considered making it, giving it the same lineage name as the Modern-ish Classic Legend AMG SLS, which is famous for having that massive hooligan of a 6.2L V8, famous for its brutish power and unforgettable soundtrack. Its nothing other than stupid product planning choices made by idiotic product planners with their heads up their ass that make useless cars like this. I'd rather have a Miata, and if I wanted it to be even more relaxed, buy a Fiat 124 Spider with the Automatic, or just buy an old Alfa Romeo Spider and experience Alfa Romeo ownership. Both of Lotus's new cars are chubby af, the Eletre SUV (5820 lbs) and the Emeya Sedan (5622 lbs). How is it not even in the main damn video? Does Lotus still stand by their mantra "Simplify And Add Lightness"? HELL NO! And that to me is a big fcuking problem. The only good car they're making right now is the Emira, and that's it. Lotus is slowly dying and being ripped of its soul by its Chinese parent company, Geely, and so is BMW-M, either making stupid-heavy-ugly-ass pieces of merde, or putting sport packages on 2 Series Grand-Corollas and sprinkling carbon fiber over their big fat SUVs which add more dollars to the price than substance. The LM002 being that outrageously heavy, in fact, 3 times as heavy as a Mk2 Scirocco 16V, doesn't really bother me that much. It is still stellar to drive, or, as a magazine called it "A Sports Car for King Kong". With one hell of an origin story of making a vehicle for the US Military Combat Vehicle Contract that includes bribery, fund misappropriation, intellectual property theft, the BMW M1, Lamborghini makes an off-roader that has a Countach V12, a leg-workout-heavy clutch and wrist-breaking 5-Speed Dogleg Manual, each tire more than a foot wide at 345mm (13.5 in), 4 seats (the base of the rear ones literally being the fuel tank), a fuel tank holding 76.6 Gallons of Gas, outside seats for "disposable children" as someone once said, 20 inches of suspension travel, acceleration and braking matching that very Mk2 Scirocco 16V and 5 seconds faster to 60 mph than the contemporary V8 Range Rover, and an owners' list including Saddam Hussein's Son, Sylvester Stallone, and Tina Turner (who had a Mercedes 500E 5L V8 and Automatic swapped into hers). This is one of the very few SUVs that I, and I guess most car guys, desperately want to have, the others being an old Land Rover Defender 90 US V8 Manual, a Supercharged V8 L322 Range Rover, an Escalade V, a Durango Hellcat and a Jaguar F-Pace SVR. The Hummer EV needs to be closer to that bloat because, its a Hummer, I'm guessing, going back to the H1, which means it needs to that heavy. Accusing it of being too heavy is like accusing a Sumo Wrestler for being too heavy for a human being. And I gotta say, doing a 0-60 faster than an Audi RS3 while weighing twice as much as one is really impressive. The Rolls Royce Spectre being that heavy is also because, in this case, its a GT, so long range means bigger batteries, which means more weight. But I don't see it as a bad thing. As long as it can move under its own power, and be the most expensive looking and expensive feeling car ever, I'm down for it. I'd personally rather have LC500 instead, because, more value for money and that V8's noise.

One vehicle that weighed a lot for its time, my personal vehicle, the 2000 Ford Excursion. They can weigh anywhere from 7000-8000 lbs, and with the 7.3 with 235 horsepower, they are slower than slow. But I love them to death.

The Hummer EV is so heavy, here in Italy you'd be required a "Type C" driving license (vehicles above 3,500 kg.s in weight) to drive it... It's the same license you need to have to drive trucks and autobuses, mind it. Contemporary Bugattis too don't exactly joke about being too heavy - The Veyron tipped the scale at 1,838 kg.s, with the SuperSport having been lightweightened just by 64, while the Chiron have done even worse at 1,996.

Another car that should be mentioned: The new MG Cyberster. It's a small 2-seater electric sports car sold in Europe that weighs 2210 kg!!! That's insane for a car that's meant to compete with a Porsche Boxster (1250 kg), the Toyota GR86 (1280 kg) and the Mazda MX-5 (1060 kg). The MG is faster than all of them with a 3.4 second 0-100 km/h but it's not nearly as fun in the corners, which is the main selling point of those cars🤦‍♂

The second car that come close to Hummer EV is Cadillac Escalade IQ 2025 which has weight of 3992 kgs or 8801 lbs which is a rival to Hummer EV, thankfully it was powered by electric motors that has 750HP and it can do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds which is impressive feat despite it weights on 4 tonnes. Seriously, BMW XM and M5 (G90) tried to rival US cars instead of trying to rival their own EU cars which trying to be powerful but have similar weight on competitors.
