The Alfa Romeo MiTo. It stands for Milano-Torino (since the collab. between Alfa and Fiat) however "mito" in Italian means "myth", not so smart for FWD a hatchback made from a brand that once made RWD sports cars. As well as the Fiat Duna (Fiat Sand Dune), Fiat Multipla (Fiat Multiple), the Opel Corsa (Opel Run, or Opel Race; SERIOUSLY?!), the Fiat Tipo (Fiat Type (as "type of person" or Fiat Dude) and the Fiat Punto (the Fiat DOT!"). There are also the Opel Corsa (Opel Run, or Opel Race; SERIOUSLY?!), the Opel Campo (Opel Field) Then there's the Ford Mustang Mach-e. "Mach-e" with an Italian accent sounds a lot like "Macché?" which is Italian for "What the heck?", or the Ford Figo (Ford Cool Guy), as well as the Ford Mondeo (sounds like Ford Mondo, Ford World) Then the Mitsubishi Alto (the Mitsubishi Tall), the Daihatsu Materia (Daihatsu Matter, not the "What's the matter" one but the "All the matter in the Universe" one), the Honda Mobilio (Honda Furniture), the Suzuki Cervo (Suzuki Deer) and the Nissan Qasqai (sounds like "cascai" that means "I fell") And then there's this scooter name, the Vespa La Cosa. (Wasp the Thing). The Vespa is a well known scooter in Italy, and their worst generation, a total flop, was called "La cosa" "The Thing". Finally there's the Ape, from the same manufacture. It might be a type of monkey in English but it's the Italian for "Bee" (a little game as the Vespa was for fun and the Ape was for work, because bees work and wasps don't do a thing). However if the name doesn't make you laugh then google Ape Piaggio: you will find a 3-wheeled pick-up truck (sort of).

13:27 The MP4-12C (or just the 12C from 2013) is named like that because of their Racing division, which at the time, had their F1 cars named MP4-XX (stands for Marlboro/McLaren Project 4). Hence when they made their first car after the McLaren F1, they decided to use an existing naming scheme. The C means Carbon (to show the car uses carbon fiber) and the 12 is their internal index of performance.

McLaren Project 4 Performance Index 12 Carbon. What a horrible name
@ARTCvan11 ай бұрын
@@TopCarsTV Technically the performance index part would be at the end, so it would be something like: McLaren Project 4-12 (Vehicle Performance Index) Carbon. Regardless, it was a terrible naming scheme and glad that McLaren has sorted their stuff out and have moved to [Metric horsepower in PS]C/S/GT/LT now. Saying 720S Spider is much easier than saying MP4-23CLT Spider or something like that. (Curiously, the C in McLaren names is now Club and not Carbon anymore? Interesting note there)

Haven't fully watched the video yet (it's great so far, as usual). Two cars that always irritated me with their names are the Audi TT RS and the BMW 1 Series M. I mean TT RS sounds weird just because it's for letters put together, but when you pronounce it you get Tittie arse ._. As for the M 1 Series, I think they should have called it the M1, the original M1 was decades old at this point and I don't think someone would confuse them. Aston did the same with the Vantage, so I don't see why it had to be the one M Car with a weird name. The SUVs are guilty too. I think they should be called XM3 and XM5 and so on.

As a brazilian, i got to say: The Ford Pampa was a 1.4 small pick-up produced from 1982 - 1997, based in a 2 doors coupé named Ford Corcel II. The "Pampa" name comes from a region in south of Brazil that makes frontiers to Argentina and Uruguai, and means "plain region" in indigenous language. Also, "Corcel" is the Portuguese equivalent to "Mustang".
@Santos.Sarmento Жыл бұрын
@vincenthewitt6919, @vincenthewitt6919, partially correct: 1. The Pampas are not a region in the south of Brazil, they are a region in the south of South America that includes a part of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul in a huge area comprised mainly of Argentina (3 times larger than Brazil) and virtually all of Uruguay. 2. "Corcel" is not equivalent to Mustang, they are just designations of horses but completely different, but much worse than that, the Brazilian car with that name had a poor four cylinder engine and ridiculous 90hp. Nothing even close to the Ford Mustang!
@miaugato93 Жыл бұрын
@@Santos.Sarmento you say that, but back when the Corcel roamed the roads of Brazil, the Mustang was on its very ill-fated 4th gen aka Fox Body. The base model in that one had.... an 80hp 2.3 litre 4 cylinder. So yes, for the most of the 1980s, the Corcel was faster and more economical than the Mustang, but then so was everything else made in Europe lmao.
@Santos.Sarmento Жыл бұрын
@@miaugato93 it is a fact that the Mustang known as “Worldcar/Fox body” was the worst version of the model in the period known as “Malaise era” but let us remember that even if it had the ill-fated 2.3 four-cylinder 89hp in the base, it also had the 2.3L turbo, the 2.8L V-6, the 3.3L inline-6, and the 5.0L V-8, peaking at 235hp. Apparently your performance data is also wrong: Ford Corcel II - 0 to 100km/h in 16s - maximum speed of 150km/h - better consumption 13Km/l on the road. Ford Mustang Third Generation 3.2 Lima (aspirated). - 0 to 60mph (97Km/h) in 12.5s, so 0 to 100Km/h in 12.9. Three seconds better. - top speed of 101mph (162 Km/h), 12 Km/h better. - better consumption 28.8mpg (12Km/l). Only Corcel's consumption is 1 km/l better, quite negligible! Even considering that the Mustang could be much, much more powerful, have power steering, be equipped with air conditioning, automatic transmission, things that poor Corcel never dreamed of, let's not forget that the Mustang is still here today. 2. Just to correct a piece of information I used earlier, the Mustang 3.2 had 89hp but the Corcel's "90" is actually in CV SAE, which converted is also 89hp, the same power, but a better performance to the Mustang. LMFAO.

I think its funny when they use the same name for a completely different car. Like how the mitsubishi eclipse used to be a sports car and is now a crossover SUV, or how the mustang is an SUV now, or how the chrysler pacifica used to be a wagon and now its a minivan.

They should have the Opel Adam "Eve" instead. Instead of playing it based on the founder, we have it based on the Biblical Adam, and it's actually a female's name.

I feel like the adam sounds much worst than it actually is. My mom drives one and occasionally i borrow it when i go out with friends, and the response is always something along the lines of "neat little car", and not in a mean way
