It seems I didn't do a good job of illustrating the actual problem of the situation. The issue is NOT that I had to change my name, or if it’s problematic. The issue is how Topdeck/head judge handled the situation. Additionally, to further hammer down my issue with Topdeck. I was assessed a turn skip as well for tapping my geas cradle for a" retarded amount of mana " . Though I felt it was silly I was playing like it was a gold even. Since it counts as a pro level event I let it go since it's my responsibility to ensure no one can derail my play with out side nonsense. (But that judge is known for being a jack @$$)... just be aware for the future.

I will say, I’m surprised it hasn’t been an issue yet and I think you should have expected it was going to a problem at some point. Especially w Cedh vying for a more mainstream appeal. That said, no way it should be a turn skip out of nowhere. They shouldn’t let you register the name then punish you for it. Feels almost like entrapment. They should just have asked for a name change… OBVIOUSLY. This is objectively BS

I'm not gona be naive and believe it won't be a problem. However, as stated, I've had this name since 2004? And it's NEVER been an issue, so that tells me, the name is not a big deal, and ok to use.

When I was in high school we used to call things retarded and although it was crass and cringe at the time, it was common parlance. Obviously since then it’s become uncouth to use this kind of language and had I registered “retardedgreenplayer” as my name in 2003, at some point in the future it would’ve become a problem. I applaud you for starting to transition to another handle across platforms because that’s being solutions oriented. Take the L here and chalk it up to growth and maturity.

@@CryptChoir The justification of I've had it since 2004 doesn't mean much. Social norms change constantly over time and it has gotten stricter on what's socially acceptable. If you think it can potentially be a problem, then it eventually will, when you run into the right person eventually. Since it was PRO RL which can kind of be assumed when they are also judging the invitational at that level the punishments, they will deal out are harsher with less leeway where a COMP RL would have probably just done a warning. Topdeck is the organizer but it got to the point where the judge had to step in where it is a problem, which is usually some kind of penalty at that point.

EDH for prizes is so stupid. But this is also just stupid. I understand you are frustrated and I can definitely understand why you feel that way. But from someone that does not care at all about cEDH, knows nothing about Top Decked history running these tournaments or you and your content prior to this. The judge did not overstep here, change your name like you said you are going to and be a little more mature in this respect going forward. The joke isn't funny nor worth it to cling onto.
