This is not just an OBD2 scan tool that will only interrogate a portion of the engine computer. This is a legit full function scan tool and will scan all modules on the car, provide live data on those modules AND true bi-directional controls, not just reset procedures. I am absolutely shocked at what this tool will do for $100. 100 per year is what the website says, subject to change like anything else I'm sure. Every so often manufacturers update. 2 app updates and 1 firmware update so far. It pulled the pin code for programming keys. The old scan tool always failed to do so. I had to get it from a dealer. Updates on the old tool is 600 a year. So far the only productive thing the old tool has done was programming a steering module.

Just got the Topscan in the mail and can confirm that it's surprisingly impressive for a Bluetooth dongle. I've owned a few in the past, all of them were useless other than providing a generic scan, voltage reading, some basic PIDS etc. I've only used the Topscan on one car so far, but the data is there, surprisingly a lot, graphing is pretty good, and it really does do bidirectional controls. It just all really depends on what the care allows the scanner to do. If I'm not mistaken, if the ECU doesn't show the data the scanner wont have anything to pick up on. So, for example, the Mitsubishi I scanned didn't show any sort of BCM or the sorts for me to scan into. I'm seriously also considering the Phoenix Lite 2.

@@ScannerDannerThe Topdon Topscan looks like a One-Stop deal for those wanting simplicity and great coverage. I plan to get one. The OBDLINK MX+ (with included OBDlink software) scans every module on every vehicle I've used it on (Ford, GM, FCA, VW, Nissan). Data is fair, but no bidirectional controls. It's a great adapter to use with other paid software, some of which are OEM level (really OE level).
