Yes a heater is extremely recommended depending on where you live. The reason why the starter kit is so cheap is because there’s not heater included

Not at the moment but it’s happened before. It usually happens either when you get the filter and start it up for the first time. Or you just need to take the filter cartridge out and replace it.

TheRandomGoat yeah it was the same with me! I went over to pet smart and they let me open up the box and I take it out and I am like wow this is not that bad! Once you put your things in it and your fish it becomes huge!! Best tank ever

Alden Klein well it depends. If you tank is in a spot in your home where you can maintain the water temperature to stays at 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit you should be fine without one. But if not I say you should get a heater. Because the colder the water the less happy the fish will be. Fish usually prefer 78-80f and if it gets to low their metabolism will lower and they will be more tired and sluggish.

lemonbemon if your getting a betta fish get real plants for plants that are not sharp because they will hurt the fishes fins. Lol. They have a 37 gallon tank with 6 inches of eco earth. 75% Humidity 75+ degree heat. Fresh and salt water pools. Fresh fruits and veggies each day. You would know if you saw a new video ;)

By the way, You should have the water line atleast 2cm under because your betta doesn’t have as much oxygen and having a heated heater is good but sometimes it gets too hot to the point where there’s not enough oxygen. It’s a good thing you added a Marimo Moss Ball to have oxygen inside your tank. But great video! Just a little heads up on it. (By the way some plants have sharp edges which would shred your bettas fins. Keep an eye on him and see where he sleeps because he might sleep on a plant and would really shred his fins overnight.)

Sean Aba thank you!. My betta has a new filter and he is getting oxygen just fine. He has 2 heaters now and they are both automatic and keep the temperature at 79. Also I have a moss ball in there and 2 neon teras .

Jays dogs & blogs By the way, Marimo Moss Balls can’t stay in there for too long because they need colder temperatures. They need 76 Degrees or lower. What you can do is from now and then, you can roll your moss ball around to prevent brown areas which means that light is bright.
