I'm surprised the X-Type didn't do better - it was aimed at the upper end (but obvs not the top end) of the company car market - and while there was strong competition from Audi A3s, Series 3 Beemers, and the C Class Merc - the X-Type was a good bit cheaper and was based on a platform that fleet managers had absolute trust in for years. Putting Jaguar styling and trim on a tried and tested bombproof Ford undercarriage seems like an absolute no-brainer to me.

@@5ynthesizerpatelI think the Rover 75 wounded the X-Type somewhat. Same segment of the market, doing the same retro-British luxury car gimmick. However BMW and Rover did a much better job than Ford and Jaguar did. Hell the 75 is more frequently compared to the more expensive S-Type over it's actual rival. That says a lot. It was it's own unique platform, not reworking something else in the range like Ford did. The X-Type will forever (unfairly) be painted as the Mondeo Vanden Plas even though it's fairly far detached from the Mondeo.

We' need more gorgeous cars that are designed to look like a practical off road sports coupe based on hatchback but with chopped rear headroom and a raised center of gravity and 18 inch wheels to loo like a hypercar offering decreased practiality, increased price, poor accident avoidance capability and ride. Estates are silly, who needs a vehicle that can actually be practical, technically capable and efficient in one package if you can legitimately sell more niche vehicles that create almost 50 percent or just about 10 tons more co2 under production than an old conventional vehicle and label it as a zero emission vehicle because upmarket world saving overpriced child slave labor cobalt and nickel mining product is just what a millennial needs, another cliche

If they exten this clip to when they go in the studio, they talk about that car as well then. mentioning they like the quality feel of it.

Back when top gear was great. The grand tour is too Americanised and staged. Let's hope they revisit their home brewed roots

They don't tend to use winter tyres in the UK either. I moved to Austria from the UK last October and had to kit my car out with an extra set of boots. Worth it though.

I think that as long as you have good snow tires on a 2WD vehicle, it's just as capable as a 4WD one with regular tires. Most vehicles that end up wrecked in a ditch where I live are 4x4 trucks and SUVs because their drivers get overconfident and lose control. I, too, had a ski trip (except in the Colorado Rockies) and our friend's Camry drove in the mountains better than my dad's SUV.

Unlike AWD where the back spins faster than the front. Such as in the R8. Also 4wd often has a Low Gear range. The reason why they call it 4wd is because they are using it as a slang and they are trying to buy you on the idea of it. The two systems are alike, but in the Automotive industry, the differences are very important and should always be remembered.

you could get a Subaru WRX wagon and have all-wheel drive, with a 2.4 liter 4 cylander engine with a turbo on it. lots of fun for lots le$$ (cheaper to insure i bet as well)
@MillerCorner6 жыл бұрын
ryanlycan1 not in the UK, buddy! Any kind of Impreza will be upwards of £5000 a year to insure for a lot of people and that's without how difficult it is to find a half decent example

The WRX will cost you much more to isure, then the head gasket will blow itself wide open !!!!!

For all 2 days of snow we get a year right? People don't even bother with winter tyres because its just not cold enough here. I just let 2 PSI out of all my tyres if it snows so that they have a larger contact patch and are softer on the ground.
@matthewl54346 жыл бұрын

Ice tyres might, over here snow tyres are a softer compound and have more tread, they don't have any spikes to damage the road
@philiptabor25568 жыл бұрын
+j4cko56 ._. snow tiers dont have spikes those are studded tiers and for the most part no one uses them cause you can but chains on your wheels

I understand this being a direct competitior with the 3-series and C-Class estates, with it's 4WD, but the Audi A4 estate that Jeremy mentioned earlier also comes with 4WD, not to mention a 3.0L V6, which is larger than the Jag's 2.5L. Maybe the A4 has less room in the boot though.
