My dad owned a 1980 Coupe DeVille. All the rusted holes were covered by tape that flapped in the wind as he drove along. The driver window was held up by a stick that we jammed inside the door. The 100-pound solid-steel trunk fell on my dad's head and he was never the same after that.

I can unfortunately tell you that nowadays, outside of the US, most people consider them tasteless and badly built.. Those who like old timers of course think more fondly of the brand because of some of the classics. I personally would be extremely glad to see them doing good again, and I must say, this car is way less boring and less ugly than for example all of the Mercedes EQ models or the BMW XM. And I think this needs to be the the market they are targeting. There is no way anyone would take this over a Bentley or a Rolls, especially if you are trying to aim at an audience where money does not matter. Qualitatively speaking, I am hopeful that they can keep up with the likes of Merc and BMW, I am sure it would be possible, we'll just all have to see in practice

The car will basically be a guaranteed international failure if they try to compete with the true luxury brands. @@IIXxSLAYERxXII 80k NICE NOT 300 grand. Double R showed us what Cadillac should have done. Stick to your original roots and make the car electric (this class of car it actually makes sense to be full EV) . Not making something completely new that shares nothing with original Cadillac's. Cadillac's used to invest stuff that no other cars had power windows, headed seats, A/C, just to name a few. This has nothing you can't get on a $200,0000 S class and looks nothing like a Cadillac. The Ceial concept or the Escala they mentioned in this video with hybrid and EV options at around $150,000 max would sell better and be closer to the brands roots. I hate what Mary has done to GM its really disappointing. Cadillac needs to stick to it's REAL fans like myself and stop trying to win over stupid children who just want to zoom and have screens in their faces and this is coming from a 31 year old.

A 4.2tt hybrid would be more widely accepted today than a BEV. People are not wanting to go full BEV yet. Hybrids and plug-in hybrid are becoming more popular by the months. Once again GM is behind the curve again.

they want to compete in Europe with this? Europeans who have a iota of common sense, avoid USA cars, because the materials used are cheaper than in European counterparts. Also 300k for Caddy is OTT pricing and it's full electric... Hard pass if you can have mild hybrid with V8 or beefy V12 under the hood in Rolls and Bentley...

I don’t get why they chose orange for the show car. The ruby red or navy blue would look so much nicer and show off the lighting more prominently. The interior is amazing though! Glad there’s American competition to the usual Euro ultra luxury cars. Next it would be nice to see an ultra luxury Genesis and Lexus for some Asian competition.

@Trussme96 Yes you would. Residual value matters when you want to switch cars every few years. People also tend to sell their assets whenever they face cash flow fluctuations, or need a quick influx of cash, regardless of income level. The wealthy have wealth management advisors who would go over all their assets and make recommendations based on their lifestyle goals, financial goals and risk levels.

I love the stance, the length, the lift back, but designers need to remember that simplicity is better. Posh people like minimalism and quality materials, not an interior that looks like Coney Island at night after a few beers.

The design language of this car is incoherent… it’s as if they spliced two different cars together and increased the size by 20%…. Admittedly this is subjective and my opinion, I think it looks …. Ugly … no offense to those who like it but for that money it just doesn’t have the “it” factor the other cars in that range have

I think the rear design is somewhat questionable, though I truly love the car. the cyberpunk/art deco look is so unique to anything else in the auto industry. It is on ef the few electric cars I really like and would own if I had the money. most electric cars all look the same, but this one stands out among most gasoline cars. the entire car just works, and it looks a lot cooler than its competition.
