In this episode of Handcrafted, we follow bespoke wheel builder Frédéric Barreau as he constructs a 72-spoke wire wheel for a Jaguar Allard. Because this is a racecar, Frédéric must use very strong materials and the expert precision he has acquired from working in the industry for over 11 years.
Top Gear Handcrafted shows you how modification and restoration professionals use their expertise to repair and transform vehicles and the parts they're made from. Watch more here → bit.ly/36V0T9O

As a bicycle wheel builder, this is very involved and impressive. I assumed incorrectly that their was some standardization. Modern bicycle wheels have standard spoke numbers. This is very cool, and greatly underappreciated. Thank you.

Wait they don't have a standardized manufacturing process? I kind of assumed they would have

Thank you so much Top Gear ! Your Handcrafted series is absolutely wonderful, and as an engineering student with a passion for pre-war cars and bikes, it gives me lots of ideas for internships, and maybe for a future job. Keep up the great work!

Impressive. I imagined centering the wheel being the difficult part, but at the same time the hub need to accomodate for .5 mm wooble...I guess experience is everything here.

I'm glad that the wheels on my pre war Riley had been rebuilt before I bought it, that might have been why the then owner sold it, to pay for them and that was 50 year ago.

You guys are really ruining your KZbin channel. . I don't really mind this building type (still not great) but the "Detailing a xyz for 40 hours" and all that other crap, Game shows etc... No. . It's honestly the type of thing that makes people unsubscribe, we don't want our feeds filled with random garbage.
