It should be more widely known that you can learn literally all of this wonderfully at high performance academy. Like no disrespect because I did the same thing but I'm pretty sure this guy just took their classes and actually spent the time and effort to learn and understand the material because this is textbook. It would be also neat to show the massive amount of documentation that goes into making a harness like this.

From the first 20 seconds you can tell that he's probably not an expert. "Water flows from point A to point B, kind of like voltage does". That doesn't sound correct to me? Correct me if I'm wrong
@LevelMSW
@LevelMSW 2 жыл бұрын
It’s just a simple analogy to explain to someone that doesn’t know anything about electronics, easier way to think of how a circuit works is to visualise how the current flows through a circuit by replacing current with water. Just misspoke using voltage instead of current.

Great video! But I just have to point out how in the first few seconds it's obvious this bloke hasn't much formal electronic education.. votlage doesn't travel, like water does - great analogy but wrong comparison. Electrons flow, and flow of electrons is current. Voltage is the difference in potential between two points - so a more appropriate metaphor would be the edge of a cliff or something altitude related even. Sorry, the nerd in me just had to leave this out there! Education is very important..
@Ziakel
@Ziakel 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure if doesn't know the difference between voltage and current. Then he wouldn't be doing wiring for a car. I thought it was weird that he said voltage flows like water too but it's just for entertainment purpose. Not a educational one.
@981porsche3
@981porsche3 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that amperage is like the size of a water pipe, and voltage is like the pressure of water in that pipe. Obviously it’s not a perfect analogy, but it does seem to be a pretty functional way to think of it. I think that is what he was talking about.

must be why he built a waterproof harness to stop the water from getting out :)

@Thor Odin son motorsport harnesses have a few advantages over OEM wiring. The sheathing makes it much tougher and can handle more abrasion that an OEM wire. The connectors are generally made to be connected and disconnected many many times without loss of sealing, connection quality and since they have knurled barrels, it can be done with greasy hands easily and reliably. Additionally the connectors are generally placed in a more convenient location for service instead of lower cost. Yes it is marginally better than the OEM in objective measurements, but much of motorsport is about winning ng in the margins. The ability to swap a component and it's associated loom in seconds may win you the race.
