@TheDrummingfanatic - you seem the type who allows contest results to shape your own opinions. 'Best in the world' they may be (and I've always respected that). I was merely passing an opinion that they play heavy-handed so the technique comes through, at the expense of some musicality and sympathy for the pipe tune. I've won a gr1 worlds, so I might be entitled to have my two cents. In terms of musicianship and 'feel', give me Boghall, Strathclyde or anything Paul Turner does over this corps.

I know what piperealitycheck is saying, the corp is undoubtedly technically brilliant. (As they all are at the pointy end of the world champs) But the World champs is to often these days about showing off technical ability and less about the actual musicality. (Piping as well as drumming) It seems to be the nature of the beast at the moment unfortunately.

It must be all the rave to have a dynamic range of 'loud to very loud' these days. Kudos for pedigree, track record and taking it out on the day etc etc, but to me this just sounds like an all-out and unrelenting 'bash crash' attack on the ears.
