All Krone mowers have Safecut beds and full shaft drive line!, so no chance of doing any damage when topping, also you can mow heavy grass for silage or hay too.

Weanling to beef system here and changed the topper for a mower this year. The speed of re-growth and following grazeouts make all the difference, right into the autumn.

Mower I use because cleaner cut and faster re growth and if want to take out small bit for bales you can cut it

Absolutely agree with you One Hunder Percent on the Mower vs Topper Scenario Adrian . Weve a 1980 Krone 9 foot mower (did have a conditioner on it ) conditioner packed in around 2003 ended up chopping it out the back and keeping the mower itself and top rushes and paddocks/fields with it . To be fair its getting past its best now and are on the look out for a cheapish disc mower . So here's hoping I can find one as good and lasts well enough

As for the case hi speed starter the only way to go. Mine like many others had the bosh starter turns to slow when cold. Also I have a jf sb2400 great mower. Only problem I have is it doesn't fold in neat. Hangs out a bit. But defo a gear reduction starter the way to go.

Mower is better than topper defintley. But I have to say if u sharpen ur topper before every paddock u will get good results. We got 12 jerseys last year ( non selective graders) took the topper out twice during the summer.

I was told that toppers shred the edge of the grass leaf, a mower with SHARP blades leaves a clean cut edge. It’s all about respiration or transportation of moisture from the grass leaf.

I disagree with most people's thought. That u cant top rough ground with a disc mower. U can top any type of ground with a disc mower u may have to drive slowly. But iv topped the roughest of ground with a disc mower. Iv toped fur bushes with a disc mower she can top on any type of ground if u slow down and keep a good eye on wat ur doing. Disc mower all day long

Oh wow! The sun was shining! The mower blades are only sharp if you keep them sharp. It is important to check the blades often to make sure that you have a good edge on your blades. Can you tell us about greasing the moving parts on your mower? What does keeping the grass fresh have to do with the sugar content in the grass, Adrian?

Toppers tare the grass where disc mower clips the grass on plus side if you had big enough disc mower you could take out paddocks for bales or silage lely mowers seem to be all around the place with farmers and ud see them of value on donedeal

I'd agree that the disc mowers are much better and your dead right they aren't that delicate i was only about a month behind the wheel of a tractor before i got sent topping and I batterd it off the ground and got stones cuaght up in it a few times cause i hadn't a clue at the time what I was at and the mower was perfectly fine after.

That was a gift from above running into that old man who told you about the the disc mower vs the grassland topper . I thought you were mad myself when I heard you mention it first last summer . Now that you have presented it there I see your logic in using that mower . Did you say you are mowing the grass and then strip grazing the cows on it ?

Thing with spreading the sh1t is your spreading the fluke too. Whatever you use the most important thing is good clean outs without leaving the cows hungry. A tricky balance.
