Topping tulips during the spring in Holland using a John Deere 6130R op Soucy tracks with a triple topper unit witch tops three beds of 1.80mtr wide in one pass. These tulips are growing for the bulbs not for the flowers. The flowers are topped so that the plant is putting all his energy into the development of the bulbs. The bulbs are harvest in the summer where after they been put in storage, in the fall the small bulbs are planted back in the field and the large ones are sold to greenhouse growers where they grown to beautiful tulips for the consumer market.

Okey so you plant all the bulbs and after harvesting, you choose the big ones and give it to the greenhouse for makeing beautiful flowers out of it... but how do you multoplay the bulbs, to produce flowers for the next year ?
@alexveldhuis60046 жыл бұрын
You don't give them to the greenhouse, you sell them to the greenhouse, or more accurately to a client who will in turn have a portfolio of outlets he/she supplies to, like garden centers/ shops. Growing bulbs IS the multiplication. By cutting the flowers, the plant diverts its energy towards its bulb. Theses bulbs were not grown for the flowers, but for multiplication of bulbs..

By cutting off the flower all nutriens go inside the bulb. This way the bulb (which is the exual crop) stays keeps growing and will remain stronger. The same happens with potatoes. At a certain point the potatoes are topped so all nutriens go into the potato instaid of the plant

These tulips are grown for bulbs, so they can be sold to other tulip farmers who grow them for flowers. But my question is why don't these farmers harvest the flowers at the first place?? Or is there any other use of tulip bulbs?
@katibah345 жыл бұрын
Yes the bulbs are grown fat so they can be sold to garden shops or growers that sell cut tulip flowers

Не поняла ничего. А зачем они это делают на видео? Смотрю, ничего не понимаю. Вырастили,чтобы просто трактором сорвать и бросить?
