Great song. It was an experience khe walked in the Sam Ash music store I was in getting some guitar strings off Route 4 in Paramus NJ. He came in for a specific itemhey didn't have it and he left immediately to go to the next Sam Ash location. I'm sure he no longer lives in NJ. This was 27 years ago. Early summer 1993.

Wow! I actually met Gregory before this song was a hit back in 1985. He used to frequent my dads restaurant on Staten Island by the SI ferry. He used to come in order a Gyro and sit and write at the table for hours for months I finally got the nerved to asked him what he was doing and he told me he was a singer song writer and was in the middle of writing a song. I can’t believe he actually wrote this song in my dad’s restaurant. Unreal but true! Oh also I forgot to tell you that he was married to Freda Payne who had a mega hit in the early 70’s with Band Of Gold.
