Just saw this video. I think you are right about the RFA/UFA re-signings (only Beniers and Tolvanen). You are also correct that the defense and goaltending (Joey only) was fine this past year, with the problem being the lack of offense. Francis did not do himself any favors by not re-signing any of his 4th line players who put up lots of goals and energy. He also let Carson Soucy go, to turn around and sign Brian Dumoulin for more money. All questionable moves on both talent and cap space. Going forward, Shane Wright clearly takes over Wennberg's 2C role. With the departing members of the 4L, they could promote both Winterton and Morrison, as they could not do any worse than this season's lot. Ryker Evans will also be full-time. And perhaps they could promote either Fleury or Ottavainen to be the 7D on the Kraken That is four or five players up from the farm. Then they will get a significant injection of talent to Coachella Valley when at least 6 more members of the 2022 draft start their AHL full-time careers next season. Are any of them good enough soon enough to make a mid-season leap to the NHL? As far as UFAs or trades, maybe something will happen like being involved in a Marner trade but Francis is pretty much following his Carolina playbook, so it seems unlikely he does anything risky. None of the available UFAs really look like difference makers on offense, so as you say, an overpay may not be worth it. Kraken fans may still be two more years out from anything exciting, until the prospect pool starts to come of age and the next GM begins to take decisive steps.

I agree, the Kraken definitely need to put a priority on their prospects. There are plenty of simple additions they could make. The goal should be to bring up Firebirds players and trade older, less goal-scoring players for younger ones.

One thing to remember about Seattle is that they have just an unreal boatload of prospects graduating in the next two years, plus 9 more picks this draft. Francis has to account for at least a third of them becoming star players, and so when he looks around on July 1st i think he will sign modest short term deals and make no huge splashy contracts.

If Shane Wright is a bust that would suck I hope he pans out for them bc I never like to see any team waste a pick if the player fails we shall see...⚖️

Mike Sullivan from Pittsburgh could help offense as coach? Jay Woodcroft?

Let’s be honest, the GM did not re-sign four of the eight 20-goal scorers … The rumor is that the coach had lost the room … Bad combination for the Kraken!

I really have no idea what is in the mind of The Seattle Kraken Team. Evidently, many of those moves they'd made, coupled with Performance Drops, they had a bad follow up season. Let me know what you think (PS. While I'm not a real Dave Hackstol fan, I don't blame him for this year).
