I don’t see why Nashville would trade Saros if he likes it there I think they better building a team with him. And I don’t think Marner = Keller. Why would Utah want to move Keller when he’s 2 years younger, he only puts up 10-20 less points than Mitch and has a better contract If Toronto decides to trade Mitch I don’t think it’s a trade everyone’s gonna love and one the leafs may not get a great haul for. Especially when you add in Mitch gets to decide where he goes

I'm in Vegas and I wouldn't want Marner due to his cap and poor production in the playoffs. Vegas won't want a player that isn't hard on pucks in the playoffs, Marner is a great regular season player but it's a hard no for me. I wouldn't want Matthews either. Our team is balanced, just leave us out of this.

He’s a game changing player. I mean he’ll put up easily 100 points plus in the regular season. Vegas has gotten players who haven’t had postseason experience before and they’ve done just fine look at Jack Eichel example he never in the postseason and he won a cup.. I get what you were saying, but there’s no doubt he would make Vegas better than what they are. It would cost a ton to give get him though, that would be worth it, considering what you would have to give up. Besides once a player goes to an organization the chances of them going through that same thing again is not very high. There’s a higher successful rate when they go to another team.

This is exactly the type of trade Vegas would make and elevate their odds higher for winning a cup next year. Honestly if im the leafs i dont want saros. Playing goal in toronto is rough, weve seen time and time again goalies coming from a western conference team who have a defensive mindset their goalie come to the east and their career fall apart. Not to mention Saros is already going to be 30+ years old come next season, youre going to have to sign him as soon as you make the trade before you see how hes going to fair on the leafs. to me trading your top asset for a goalie is very very risky. I would much prefer if they were going to do that and go after a goalie stick to their process, find that diamond in the rough. Could Kuemper be available? would washington consider retaining 50% to move him? A tandem of Woll and Kuemper to me would be fine. Chris Driedger would be an intriging goalie to me as a possible third goalie with potential. Im sure he would sign a 1 year 1 mil.both these goalies are only 1 or 2 years off being really really good goalies until they got to their new teams a change of scenery may bring that back ... If im the leafs thats what I do.. I do a trade with Washington try and get them to retain 50 on Kuemper and give them a couple picks like a 3rd and a 4th. And then sign Drieger as the 3rd 1 year 1 mil as a potential 1B option if Kumeper doesnt work out.

We're not giving up Roy, Theodore, Whitecloud, Hague so you can forget that. Roy is an awesome 4th liner. Thompson and HIll aren't going anywhere sorry, especially for Marner for 11 million dollars. No way! Marner doesn't show up in the playoffs. Martinez, McNab or Marchessault since he's a free agent maybe you can have but we don't want Marner so I don't know where Vegas plays into this.

Seeing how teams DON'T want a player at the end of his prime (Tavares) with a stupidly over-valued contract (even if bonuses have already been paid out), and only one year left on his deal....in short, you're essentially giving up Marner for a team to take Tavares' contract off your hands. In addition, the Leafs would need to take back a slightly over-valued contract or two because there isn't a single team in the NHL who can take on 22-million for only ONE effective player (with the exception of any team that has Dubas as GM of course)... 😅 So you'd be looking at Marner + Tavares for a d-man (and hopefully goalie) who aren't as effective as they used to be with slightly over-valued contracts... IF Treliving does a good job, he might be able to gain 2nd & 3rd round picks in that deal also (or prospects equivalent to 2nd/3rd round picks). If such a deal came up I'd consider it ''fair trade value'' considering the Leafs MUST get a deal done this off-season before we lose Marner & Tavares for nothing at all.

you never want to group your best asset to get rid of another asset in the same trade. I think Tavares does have some value if there was some money retained. i believe a team would be ok with him at around 7Mil all day long. IF THE leafs retained the 4 mil. You could probably get a decent roster player Maybe a middle 6 player and a 2nd round pick for Tavares Marner thats another story i do not want them trading him for a goalie or atleast as the main piece coming back. to me thats counter intuitive to their issue. They have an offensive problem , they should be trying to get a different type of player back like a Travis Konecny. if they use the space created to them go get a guy like that then ok but i dont believe they have the assets that they want to give up outside of marner to get a deal like that done. Marner , I would honesly be looking for a good SOLID minute eating amazing plus minus shot blocing defencmen and a forward who plays a different style then him like a Konecny.

That’s almost $22 million in cap space. I don’t know of many teams that could take that on. Especially with one of those guys in steep decline. I think you could trade both (you’d have to retain money on JT), but not in a single trade to a single team.

Did you listen to how I explained how it could work? They would trade a D like Theodore making 5.2M, Roy 3M and Thompson 762K. That’s around 9M so not much difference in money. Karlsson could be included instead of Roy he makes 5.9 Anyway it’s easy, they trade 3 players to the Leafs who’s salaries would be similar money

Woll is good but has struggled with injuries, they need more security for when Woll can't play. If Vegas would trade Theodore and Thompson in a deal centred around Marner I agree that makes alot of sense from the Leafs perspective. Leafs need stability in net and a significant defensive upgrade at the top end.

The problem with UFA is rarely do they work out. The contracts that workout and have value more often are the players resigning with their teams , thats because in UFA its a bidding war , not alot of people know this but Toronto is at a severe disadvantage when it comes to signing Free agents which results most times in them and other teams with this disadvantage having to overpay for these players and hoping they live up to these inflated contracts and surprize not many do.. \ examples are David Clarkson, the leafs had to severely overpay and give him extra years to get him away from jersey. Patrick Marleau, Toronto had to give him an extra year on his contract to get him to come to toronto resulting in Toronto giving up their 1st round pick to get rid of that year , losing out on Seth Jarvis who is a massive player right now for Carolina. We saw it again this year with even a guy like Ryan Reeves leafs had to oveerpay him by 250k and give him the 3rd year to get him to come to toronto. Toronto has a very bad tax implications. places like Florida i believe , Dallas , San Jose, LA, I believe even Nashville, you pay so much less tax living and playing there the players pocket WAY more of their money. Why would they want to come to a place that has hard winters , you make less money becayse of taxes, and you cant get out of the 1st round.? Therefor they have to overpay . That is whats wrong with your philosophy.

When will Toronto learn…Marner isn’t the problem. The upper management is a problem, their goaltending is a problem their defense is a major problem, Marner isn’t. They will stupidly get rid of him and two years from now they will be looking to acquire a proven NHL scorer who can manage both zones…Marner. Someone did a breakdown of their trades and what they got back over the last few years versus what they gave up. They managed to lose every trade they made.

Bertuzzi better be a small contract with short term (fat chance)... Domi however we NEED to keep (if he breaks his pattern of 1 good season followed by 2 rough seasons). Marner & Tavares need to be moved out for cap space so we can get Domi plus a D-man, plus a 1(b) goalie. Let Robertson, Knies, Holmberg, McMann, and Cowan get their rightful chance for a FULL season on the roster (stop expecting miracles if you only treat them like shuttle players).
